im #2 or #3 on every trail now.....always behind Tails and Sutin. Problem is I'm like, several seconds behind Tails...and i dont understand how to make up several seconds anywhere. Before the leaderboard wipe, I was also 2nd or 3rd on every trail...to Tails. I'm close to just giving up lmao
im ngl i havnt hunted any other race than prancer since the lb wipes beacsue people keep finding ways to get more time every day

Well shit yous cooked more than I thought, don't even know if I want to try and get close to that. Don't really enjoy this track so far, finding it a bit boring in comparison to the proto map ones
and it was far from perfect as well xd
I havent played at all this weekend. Prob waiting for next proto. Current physics are rather discouraging imho...

its not fully hold pedalling level yet for me

Its got a good amount more tech and some flow and after that itll be like a more singletracky fast paced kind of thing with some fast techy sections
The start stays around 40km/h on normal runs but i wanted to do the whole highway section thing

bcs man the end of acro is quite hard to clear sometimes ngl

first sub 2 woho, still improvable but the level is already insane on this track
yeah its kind of unfortunate because ive tried different things and like most of the flow stuff even if i make it really easy to case it and pick up speed, the more chances the trail gives to the player the less flowy it feels cause the landings wont be totally on point and some shit
yeah its a hard balance
what i found makes the easiest flow trails is stuff where you dont need to bunny hop at all and that you are always rolling over 60
cause then the player has actually no way to change their distance of landing in a consequential way
which is kind of counter intuitive to real life
but technically thatd make for the easiest jumps

like that right side flow trail i made i thought was super easy at first and then i realized everyone that tried it found it really hard
and so i had to nerf it like an incredible amount
theres a part of me that really really really really wants to scrap that trail entirely

Is carving trails out of the mountain in unity kind of like using different brushes on a mesh in blender?
its like 3d sculpting basically
the difference between normal 3d sculpting and this is that youre limited in terms of resolution
so its a challenge of everything not being too choppy
If the detail in blender is too rough you can use dynotopo, which breaks down the triangles into smaller ones. Isnt that possible unity too?
not really because theres a lot of stuff happening with said terrain that needs to be calculated and also for the simple reason that unity has a lot of restrictions because lowkey they dont pay a lot of attention to their terrain tools for this niche in particular
and to be honest as well, if we did have dynamic topology it would be a bit funky for me to make trails and id get caught in details i dont want to get caught into

oh i feel the inconsistent slowdowns for sure...it feels completely random sometimes. I barely want to ride Acro because of it, nothing worse than a great run and then getting slowed down for no reason in the last split

Best DH Track I have ever made, it is so much fun. It isn't impossible to put down full laps consitently and it is so satisfying when hitting the lines right.
I was a bit slow at the berms at the end, but you can go completely full send on them. There is still a bit of the mountain left, so this track will probably reach the 2 minute mark!

style in the wr runs might make the wrs look more fun to people that are thinking about getting the game (hint hint tails please do a whip or two)

Maybe we should make it so there is like 10 degrees of leeway. Might make the skill gap a tiny bit less, but it would make it so you're not so scared to throw the bike around in the air. Just an idea.

Oh we NEED this! I think the green could even be widened by 2.5 degrees or so on each side. As others stated, IRL i can land with my rear wheel pretty far over before i feel any speed penalty

Try and take the berm right before as smooth as possible. Nice and wide and maintain speed. Pre jump at the base of the jump and see if that helps. Sometimes you go further that way.
oh interesting, so jumping a bit early is a bit of a meta? Wasnt aware of this, haha figured timing it so i was at the last bit of the lip would = best distance.

on smooth trails more often than not jumping around a bit is faster
Think of the pre jump as βsquashingβ the jump
i think some people think jumps dont work since when you are slow you only move up and down

which in real life you also do more towards the bottom

you dont jump at all and come from a standup position and at the top crouch
True, squashing you donβt βjumpβ but suck the bike up the face of the lip and push down after you leave the lip

best way to emulate squashing in this game imo is to push left stick forward at the top
you will land a bit further but stay lower

which one works best could be jump dependent
I sometimes lean forward on the lip
and other times jump early
- jumping early + leaning back: 123
- jumping early + no fw/bw + crouch at top : 118
- doing absolutely nothing: 102
- crouching the whole takeoff: 108
- leaning forward the whole time/at top: 102 (but slightly faster than nothing)
- leaning backwards the whole time: 107
- scrubbing: 98 (if done well, else 102)
- forward push + scrub: too big delta to avg (was between 95 and 120)
this was my results on booter 1
of prancer
all tested with the same speed ish, all 5 attempts to get an avg
now however
distance is not everything
i'd argue speed matters more
and thats where forward push + scrub and normal forward push where the best imo
jumping early + crouch at top was also decent speed wise but you often land to flat and lose speed bcs of it

its also heavily dependant on the landing
bcs for example booter 1 on prancer the fastest line is to land in the offcamber on the left
and as far as possible since you will land smooth anyways
while booter 2 for example you wanna land in the sweet spot so depending on your speed you do something different
could actually be a fun video series to do on youtube

the beginning jumps on prancer for example are perfect for early jump + forward lean
