I have 3x PiAware Raspberry Pis. 2x are RPi4Bs and one is an RPI3B. All are running Raspbian Bullseye and were up to date with all security patches and other updates as of yesterday. They were happily running Tailscale 1.88.4 and I was very happy that I could remotely connect to them through tailscale to check things using the CLI and run htop etc (something you can't do via the web interface).
Today I tried updating two of them to 1.90.1 via SSH and they failed at "setting up tailscale (1.90.1)" and froze at 60%. Both of the ones I upgraded were the RPI4Bs and I have left them for over 30mins with no progress on the progress bar. One of them I have connected via a smart plug and I attempted to reboot - however, I cannot connect to it via tailscale. Both are still sending data to FlightAware so the Pis have not frozen entirely. I'm not sure what to do here other then try to SSH into them when I am physically local to the devices and on the same network.
Advice?
I don't think I can reinstall everything as I don't think the PiAware image has been upgraded to Trixie yet.
#Update to 1.90.1 failed on PiAware (Bullseye). Cannot reach remote Pi anymore even after reboot.

Hello, maybe you should try downgrading Tailscale to the previous version using sudo apt install tailscale=1.88.4
You can find more information here:
https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale/issues/17622
Thanks @versed slate One of the PiAwares was running on a network with an exit node so I was able to connect to the exit node then ssh directly to the IP address and use the instructions you gave me to downgrade to 1.88.4.
The other one will have to wait until I next visit the site, which probably maybe possibly will be in a month (currently not scheduled to visit it)
Glad to hear! Hope you can fix the other soon 😄
https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale/issues/17623 the Pi issue is likely this. there is a workaround, but the Tailscale team are also aware of it and there should be a fix coming.
Yes, looks like they are going to release 1.90.2 soon https://github.com/tailscale/tailscale/issues/17631#issuecomment-3444100369
