I thought I responded to you earlier, but maybe I got distracted. Yeah I can help you
I'd also want to know
sooooooo do you want help?
Yes
alright. what have you done so far?
oh ok. you'll need unreal engine 5.7
and fmodel if you wanna look through the gamefiles
5.7.4?
Downloading
I got FModel installed but I'm not sure what directory the audio files are
Or where to access the game files
you can mostly follow the fmodel part of this https://github.com/Abeelha/FFW-mods/blob/main/INSTRUCTION-fmodel.md
for your case ignore step 5 and beyond
cool. launch ue and make a blank game project titled FarFarWest
might take a while to start. you can look for whatever sounds you want to change in the mean time
How do I listen to the sound file in FModel?
audio files should open a second window if you double click
or you can extract the audio by right clicking and selecting save audio
[ERR] Package has unversioned properties but mapping file (.usmap) is missing, can't serialize
I keep getting that error when I try to open it
wait a sec
Unreal is open
you fix this?
Nope
you need the mappings file. you can grab this one https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DI9AN-zsDBlGE5IvwkH2_EC7kZxnFLhO/view?usp=sharing
then just enable local mappings file in fmodel and add the path to it
Got it
lmk when you know what file you want to replace
I think I know what I want
You wanted to add a dmc/doom song, right? What format is it in?
I know ue accepts wav, but idk what other formats work
wav
Cool. So just drag it into unreal. You'll need to make sure it's the same name as the file you want to replace, as well as follows the same path
Do I just drag and drop it or is there a certain directory I place it in?
Just into the content browser
You can move it to the right folder after. Doesn't matter
you good?
I'm not sure where to put the music
I found the content browser and tried to put in the music, but the file directory isn't clear
I'm not sure what to do
did you check what the output log says?
wtf
I'm also not sure where to replace said file
Unreal is open, and I can see the game files on FModel, but I'm still not sure where to replace the file
I don't understand
Do I need to open the game files in Unreal to access the audio?
no?
can you elaborate?
I have the audio track renamed to what I want, but I'm not sure where to put the audio
So I'm not sure if I need to replace the old audio file with the new one
And if so, where do I put it
this isn't working. can we call or something so you can show me your screen?
Sure
finally. it only took like 3 hours
This would be banger, plus add like a robo version of dante in
I think I've got my list of tracks, now I gotta figure out how to publish it to y'all
I will be the judge of the osts youve chosen.
"By jove, this assortment of gramophone music is horrid! Indeed it is by all account unfit to even be perceived by a gentleman such as I, along with the rest of my colleagues. Good day, sir!"
I just used DMC5 songs for the music changes, which plays in a few places
During exploration battles, storm events, extraction, the title screen and the lobby
Is there somewhere I can showcase the music?
I tried, but some of the songs couldn't build up properly
rip
And 5 had fit some time requirements better
Took a bit of quality reduction, but I think I got my first view test
The volume needs a few tweaks, but I think it has potential
That's why it's called a test
only dmc5? :(
I can try other DMC titles, but I need to know from others what tracks they would like
I also should explain how the raw audio files compare to in-game compression
In Unreal, the music tracks when isolated are incredibly loud at base volume and are easy to distort if you mess with the volume. But when applied in-game, the music itself sounds quiet, especially over all the sound effects. The worst part is that the slider for sound effects is also what controls the music
