I both hate and love deadeyes.
They're the classic sniper enemy, but I do enjoy how much pressure it puts on me to take them out immediately. They make it so running into a new area can be super dangerous without proper positioning.
Couple notes:
- Spell damage doesn't always seem to interrupt them. In fact, a vast majority of spells are ground-based or have heavy travel time, so I now feel like I need a sniper or some form of long range to counter them. (Voodoo doll does way too little damage against them and doesn't stop their snipe animation)
- They can spawn above you, and in groups. They weren't as fun when 7 of them spawned at once and immediately deleted my health before I could shoot them back. They should spawn further away, especially considering they're the sniper enemy.
- They can see you through walls, charge up their shot, and hit you as soon as you peek from cover with 100% accuracy. Feels incredibly annoying when I can't outsmart them with proper positioning and varying my angles, I literally just have to brute force them. They should stop charging their shot after a second of being behind cover, or target only your last known position.
- They can see you with perfect range/visibility in storms. Kind of dumb when they can be deep in the clouds and be invisible aside from their laser, but still have a perfect, unwavering bead on you. Even just a slight range reduction would help them not feel as cheesy.
- They can shoot you/see you through bosses and enemies as well. Having one laser me from behind the haunted saloon was very annoying, and they don't seem to friendly fire enemies like other shots do.
Overall cool enemy, just feels pretty overtuned and they REALLY shut down close range builds. I like having them be a real danger, but it does feel incredibly random on whether or not ten of those guys spawn out of nowhere in the middle of a reload or snake and eat unavoidable damage because of it.
