||You can't stab Sky Face. He is not a fight at any point in the game.||
||I said. I. am. going. to. stab. him.||
||alright emo bastard. not in the mood. time to die for annoying me while Im dealing with cheap storytelling.||
Don’t worry, you get back at him
mhm
sigh
it just.
I love the mechanics
but man
the opening to atlus games
suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks
its all about being powerless and unable to stop people
when
guess what
Im not powerless
because I spent 20 hours in the first dungeon becoming nearly unstoppable
and its just
such a clash of reality vs storytelling
its infuriating
||In fact, you do so twice. Because he's a necromancer, so of course he's dealt with more than once.||
||bro what are you on about. thats like..... barely a climb. I coulda weaved through that when I was 10, much less a magically enhanced super soldier in their late teens.||
||like this is Kingdoms of Amalur levels of embarassing. and that game came out in like 2010||
||Gotta keep that OSHA compliance. Can't go climbing debris piles without a harness.||
||THEY HAVE MAGIC.||
||OSHA does not care. Workplaces must have safety standards. And climbing debris piles is unsafe.||
||the enemies here are level 6. Im level 15. this is just sad.||
||uuugggghhhh. fiiiiinnneeee. Ill get them harnesses and hard hats.||
||and eye protection||
||and boots||
game I understand that you expect me to leave this dungeon at some point to recover supplies for some reason.
I do not know why you would think I would ever willingly do that when seemingly, theoretically, this dungeon is doable in one shot.
dungeon 3 ||oh hey its the classic "we revived your friend to kill you" nonsense. man you guys are in for a real bad time. I mean unless you got him as I built him? but thats unlikely. this is gonna be fun.||
||...... what do you mean he was able to move faster than the eye can track. thats nonsense. I dont care what energies you infused him with, I should be able to flick him and have his arm explode.||
||oh look is it awakening round 3? my god. I just. like. could you at least let me fight this gremlin first before doing this?||
||I said it before, Ill keep on saying it, Atlus while good at overall storytelling, sucks at intros.||
||seriously. my god. this is just painful. and not in a fun way.||
oi. which one of you said dungeons could be done in one shot without the game randomly forcing me out?
IVE BEEN LIED TO
BETRAYED
to anyone who knows: if I just absolutely nuke the dungeon day 1, do I then lose all the other days? or is it just that Ive ended the threat early and now can just chillax.
chillax
no time is lost if you finish a main dungeon early.
also, does it count if the fight isn't even in the dungeon but on the way there?
Iirc that was me, and i said it doesn't kick you out in the middle of a dungeon, not that there was no plot stuff before you actually got to explore the dungeons
Discord pls
Only one post
At least up to the second important one anywyas
There's also not been any calling card ish mechanic to summon the bosses
nyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Also i'd recommend at least doing all bond stuff you can before going to the main plot dungeons, some of the perks you get are really useful
well, found a new grinding spot.
although its annoying that these goblins are level 16
You did what I did, heh. It's a good place of ya do it right
Look they said “don’t go there it’s super dangerous” all I heard was “xp bags ripe for the picking”
Now if only I could get high enough leveled to just insta gib everything.
Gonna take a while
I still had mage equipped most of the time to accrue mp. It just made my mistakes a lot worse
Oh yeah question: you got a good farming route? Or is it just run from start of dungeon to the end.
Cause enemy respawns in this place feel…. Off.
Eventually that's what I did. What I did for quick kills early on was go through most of the first floor for quick kills and the room nearby once you go down, exit the dungeon and repeat.
Eventually I just started going through the dungeon, using bugs as an easy xp, usually ignoring the big guys, but there are a few nice swarms of enemies near the end, than using cat to restart level again.
Wait… I can exit the dungeon without leaving leaving?
Like go through the front door again without time passing
Yeah, if you go back to where the entrance is , it'll reset non special enemies and you can talk to your party members and hop right back in
Mind you, if you try to leave once there it'll have the time passing icon as a warning
It doesn't reset your health/mana pools. But you don't have to wait for spawns that way. Having the cat send you back to the entrance does the same. Entering academia can do it as well
In some dungeons I Eventually was using ariadne's thread to restart a dungeon quickly
I really like the towers for grinding.
Start on floor 1, go up to the top, use the cat to go back to the entrance, repeat.
Other dungeons are kind of a pain.
there are a few places with very well placed spawn crystals, though most of the good ones are a ways off. others are kinda placed in what seems like an annoying spot on purpose where enemies will get stuck.
Yeah, I farmed the heck out of the temple dungeon by just parking myself between two crystals as a merchant.
Kinda slow way to make a million gold, but I haven't needed money since.
Handy
Yeah the cat only lets me save the game RN cause I haven’t killed the boss
might be a hard mode thing? Usually gives you the option to return to entrance
Huh
Dunno
I am in hard mode. Should probably turn that down for grinding
Yes I fiddle with difficulty while grinding. I actually care about my time somewhat
I do it too, especially with the bad weather boost.
Bad weather boost?
Enemies get some extra levels + hitting weaknesses doesn't give you an extra half turn, but you also get extra Exp + A. Exp
Also if for some reason you need to, the mag exchange is a better ratio when the weather sucks
huh. I see.
well
good to know for my next grind session.
in other news finally got the ability to overworld kill everything in here
so now finally, finally, I can level all my jobs to 20
causel ike
..... why not.
I want healers auto heal damnit
it will be mine
Figured out how to teleport back to the start with the cat!
That…. I didn’t think that “leave” meant leave the dungeon. I thought it was the exit dialogue button
Ive been here. so long.
I have become a part of this dungeon itself.
this hole
it was made for me
Im. Normal.
You know, more luck would mean more items.
while true: without the ability to respec I sadly have to prioritize combat ability over luck
game just went "you know if you do things that characters agree with in conversation you get MAG!"
game. why would I ever need that.
also, a lack of luck can be made up for with quantity
observe.
For bigger number.
It's free MAG, after all.
I guessssssssssss
you appear to have spent more time in that dungeon than i spent on the entire game
As is Gur's way.
And?
Pianist, welcome to my domain
(he's insane)
don't worry
he does this
its an issue
he won't change
its endearing
Awwwwww. Thanks weegy.
acceptance, not a compliment
Acceptance, not a compliment.
extremely rude. dishonor upon your cow.
extreme dishonor upon your nonexistent cow then.
welp.
Time to back out just for a moment to sell the items.
Yes, but you'd be maximizing the efficiency of your Gold gain from loot.
nah
Im doin fine
maybe it auto sells?
thats a thing right?
uhhh nope
they just drop into the aether
Then guess you gotta leave the dungeon for a few minutes to sell them off, to maximize your gold from loot.
I physically can’t hero
If I leave a whole day passes
And I’m not gonna waste time like that
Gurm have you been checked for OCD
they said I dont have it
repeatedly
also dont have autism
also repeatedly
theres like 7 full write ups on me.
Gurm the well written on, dang
look the long long long, extremely complicated, nearly 2 decade long story short.
is that nobody actually explained what the hell ADHD is.
and only in the past few years have me, and my family, really uncovered it.
Also, unless those old coin are worth quite a bit each, you probably would make more cash grinding w/merchant mc
WELL I DONT HAVE THE MERCHANT CLASS YET
I only have the base 5 forced on you
and Ive been trying to find the others (no I havent but let me dream) but its been hard.
and compicated
and nobody wants to talk to me cause they're racist.
yeah the capital is full of rude people
there has been that one nice lady that told me about this dungeon though
I like her
shes nice
I also like the tavern lady
tavern lady pretty. I mean what.
Both are nice yeah
shame we're STILL A DAMNED TEENAGER THIS TIME
I just
like sure
we're at least a legal adult
but 18? really game?
I just. like come on
thats basically still a child
18, where you get to both claim 'teenager protag' and 'adult protag' at the same time
How are there goblins left in this dungeon?
I just
Like
Mathematically it’s making less and less sense
Goblins breed at an exponentially parabolic rate. The more or less of them there are, the faster they repopulate.
My god
Welp, time to try the demo.
Been putting it off because BRAIN said no, but I have won! for now.
... Mmmmh. That'll be a no from me. Something about the art is freaking me tf out, and I can't completely place it.

I'm assuming Healer on Hulkenberg is the final Archetype to max of the archetypes you've unlocked?
yup
I figured out what set me off on the art
gonna spoiler it because it's gross
||The way the eyes are animated and modeled, the cutouts around them makes it look like everyone's had their eyelids and tearducts fucking flayed||
Made me nauseus as fuck and I know it's stupid, but that'll make a playthrough miserable
||It's because of the emphasized tear ducts I think, that really makes me think they've been dug out even if the logical brain knows it's an art style||
No yeah I get what you’re talking about. I only noticed that on a few characters though
So like. Nothing wrong with the game, I didn't even get to gameplay aside from a brief escape sequence at the start
So I can't comment for shit on anything. I'll probably buy it ad try to stomach it if it goes on sale.
Entirely fair reason to not play the game.
If you can't mentally handle the art style, trying to push through the game anyway will just be torture.
There are dozens of other great games to play.
I know, but I am fascinated by the concept behind Rephantasio. At thispoint my interest in it makes it so it's a pick up on sale game even if it gives me the willies
Having finished it last night, I can 100% say that it's worth it.
But definitely wait until it's on sale, just in case you can't handle the eyes.
How are you already done with the game???
he does not spend 80 hours in one dungeon
I've been playing 3-8 hours per day.
Also what weegy said
Yeah, I only grind where it's expedient.
I havent spent 80 hours in 1 dungeon
uh-huh
Ive spent nealry 90.
...
That inherently means you've also spent 80 hours in one dungeon, Gur. That's how math works.
no.
Yes
nuhuh.
Yes.
nyeh
You absolute goober
90 is a bigger number than 80.
precision is important!
Which means if you spent 90 of something, you also spent 80 of it.
FWIW Gurm, you'll never need more than ~2-3 million gold. So when you get the merchant class rolling you should limit yourself to some degree.
it does not matter to him, he is gone to the grind
I overdid it by a mil and was actively trying to find things to spend money on.
Gold is stupid easy to get, and not that worthwhile.
He's grinding out exp for every character class he has available
Anybody else have a good title for Gurm I can't gt something snappy that describes "Ridiculous grindmonster" properly
Some pun for OCD
Im normal?
no you are not
no
I can't let that slide even as a joke anymore
The most expensive item in the game is an accessory that lets you cast a high damage typeless magic nuke, but half of your characters learn comparable abilities so it's not that worthwhile.
The second most expensive item are a handful of fans for ||Junah|| that all boost one element's damage. You only need 1 or 2 at most, and even then you can find better a bit later on.
So yeah, money grinding is kinda meaningless. Just throw on merchant for a dungeon and you'll have enough cash almost everything.
Yeah. Not a licensed individual psychologist, but in my expert opinion as someone with a Societal Psychology degree, Gur is probably suffering from some variant of OCD, that manifests exclusively for grinding in video games.
Which quite often goes alongside OCD and related conditions.
okay look. I have literally. 7 seperate papers written on me for my mental problems.
its just clinical depression and ADHD.
no I was like this before I was depressed.
honestly teh grinding brings out the depression sometimes because it lets my mind wander.
I believe you mean "hysteria"
Note that I specified "manifests exclusively for grinding in video games". It's possible that the psychiatrists all dismissed OCD since it's not a "standard" presentation of it where you're obsessed with things like making sure an area is always organized a very specific way, or preparing your food in very specific visual displays.
but I like my areas to be specifically organized
and for things to be mirrored
and apparently
that wasnt "OCD" enough for them
oh hey, the unlocks go silvery once you master em
fun.
FREEDOM
AHA
FINALLY
time to kill that minotaur
||........ it was not that hard of a fight lady. basically tank and spank.||
||She was obviously expecting it to be a cakewalk with no damage taken from the party, with how much grinding you did, is what she means by "tougher than anticipated".||
||she should lower her standards.||
||She's in the Royal guard. She can't lower her standards without compromising her honor.||
||And a woman without honor is worthless, or something along those lines.||
Hulkenberg has normal mortal standards, not whatever the mc can do standards
I still dont understand how you can beat a game like this in 80 hours.
I mean..... you can spend that long in dungeon 1.5
and now I run away
By not spending that long in dungeon 1.5.
Instead of beelining a grinding spot to spend the next 30 years in, one instead beelines every main plot objective.
I just made the most busted build possible and said "good enough"
but..... but how could you know it was the most busted build possible if you didn't max out every single class for every single person?
There's a perk that gives you 50% evasion, and a trinket that deletes all enemy actions the moment they miss.
.......... oh.
Final boss only got ~4 hits in on me.
All the extra effort maxing characters felt like extra work.
.......... hm.......... I think..... I might start investing in agility...... yeah I dont really need more endurance.........
I mean I already nearly have 50.......
Oh yeah, Agility is the best stat in the game IMO
Most of your damage by the end comes from your weapons + buffs, rather than base stats.
But there's very little that boosts AGI
I think I ended the game with 90 magic and 60-something Agility and it was fine. 100 Agility would have been even sillier.
kinda wish the game had a respec option.
oh well
what kind of modern RPG with stat alocation doesnt let you respec?
Yuuup.
The final class for the MC mostly does physical damage, which annoys me greatly.
I was still hitting for 5k+ damage, but it felt wasteful all the same.
interesting.
WeMod lets you hax in extra stat points, but I never used it.
Didn't feel necessary to me.
ehhhhhh....... not really the route I wanna take
I moreso want to scream into the void
while achiving nothing: it feels cathartic
well hopefully I wont regret dumping 27 levels worth of points into endurence
I mean that probably makes me immensely tanky? probably?
I think|| 4th ||character had about 70 agi at the end, before archetype.
my mc I had around 75 ish, but also maxed luck and pretty high mag. I went for a build that ignored weakness with him.
Since you are on hard, that endurance will probably allow you to live a lot more than elsewise
there are definitely bosses that it helps to have high endurance against

be nice to the baby
(I have no idea what you are reffering to)
a baby it is not
interesting
i kinda hate how mage archetype progressions is limited to the story progression
oh yeah, but only as long as you have a stat up bonus active
no, no. So long as theres overworld enemies you can get free mp
and overworld enemies are infinitely spawning as far as ive seen
every time you stun or kill and enemy in the overworld you recover 1 mp
still free mp recovery
mmh
and the mage's attack is an aoe
free is free. you should see the horrors I commit for 1 XP, let alone 1 MP.
Gur literally spending hours in the tutorial cave dungeon because he wants to max out everyone, including Grandpa.
To this day, some swear that Gur is still stuck in that cave, maxing out Grandpa. :P
how was I supposed to know he was a Jagen!
Grandpa characters given that early are always Jagens.
hold on gimme a moment Im fairly certain I know of an instance in which you're wrong....
Especially when the only other initial companion is a 3rd dude (counting the protag as the first dude).
If the grandpa character is given in the first half of the game, 90% odds they're a Jagen.
If the grandpa character is given in the first chapter, and aren't the main protagonist, 99.9999999999999999999999999% odds they're a Jagen.
Octopath Traveler 2.
Octopath cheats by having all its party members be main protagonists.
look man.
Will is the only main protagonist in Metaphor, and thus Grandpa was fated to be a Jagen.
okay fine gimme a lil bit I can find another
Ghost Busters the video game.
you're teamed up with a bunch of 50 year olds and none of them die.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters:_The_Video_Game
this one specifically
Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a 2009 action-adventure game based on the Ghostbusters media franchise. Terminal Reality developed the Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions, while Red Fly Studio developed the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Wii versions. The game was released after several delays in development and multiple publ...
anywho
point being
I didn't think he would. ya know.
have that happen
They're main characters of movie, and thus they survive by virtue of main protagonist power.
this game is considered a canonical sequel to the films and does not treat the original cast as main characters. they are IMPORTANT yes, but your faceless newbie is the main dude.
Point stands. They are main characters of prequel movie, and are still considered important cast. Ergo, they retain protagonist power protection from prequel movie.
r-rockbeans my beloved?!?!?
they make mp restore foods?!?!?
hell i'm reloading before cutscene time and going to go get more
also i gotta remember to use the bathroom on days divisble by 5
noooo i'm locked into plot and cant go to the beanboy
I’m sorry what?
Oh yeah, the bathroom luck
Huh
I'd thought it was a speicifc day of the week, not just days / 5
if i remember, weeks in Metaphor are 5 day long
I think I’m on like day…. 3? Maybe 4? Which would explain why I never encountered that
remember to buy beans from the bean child
but beaaaaans
ahahahahah this fool also got caught
||town crier is in jail with me rn||
beanchild i have come for buisness
consume hte bean
Gur never got out of Starter Town, he gave up during the Church Dungeon due to anger, so he does not know of the glory of the toilet that permanently increases Will's stats depending on the value of the 1s digit of the date.
(Where 5 and 0 are +Luck.)
that first dungeon ain't easy man
It wasn't due to difficulty, that Gur's anger arose.
Did they not let you grind or was it plot related
Plot related. There was plenty of grinding, since Gur found out that doing the out-of-battle instagib restores 1 MP, meaning he could grind infinitely. And due to the grinding he'd done in the Mine, he was able to instagib basically every enemy in the Church if desired.
Aha.
That’s…. Not what I did at all?
The plot annoyed you because it was blocking the ability to max out all classes in the first dungeon.
Since you had to progress plot to unlock a class.
What happened was I got to the first major dungeon after maxing out all available classes in the side dungeon you get from merchant lady, then the election happened and I decided that playing a !=Persona game while deeply emotionally unstable was a bad idea and found other things to do.
Ya know. Because mentally spiraling would have been very messy.
Classes being locked behind story progression doesn’t bug me. Just means I have clear break points. You max grind all available classes, then prog to get a new class, max grind that one, rinse, repeat.
overleveling already maxed out classes isn't lost either
you gain consumable for each overlevel that give 1000 job experience
but you lost any consumables created once you reach the 99 limit...
Ehehe… ehe…
yeahhhhhhh……
I don’t know how much I lost over time.
i lost so many of these fuckers
