But the actiony and more symbolic bits of the cutscene happen quicker in both senses of the word.
(The actiony and symbolic bits are both happening sooner, and taking less of the total cutscene time.)
Which is probably why the cutscene feels quicker, since it gets to the symbolic and memorable parts sooner.

P3 is the best of the Personas. I know you hate the changes made compared to SMT where the goal was to Westernize the series, but give P3 a shot.

I mean, if you only ever catch Personas in the random encounters, technically base Persona is also a Gatcha game.
Also if you never reference an online fusion chart when doing the fusions, and refuse to memorize them.
It's only the roaming visible Phantoms that have guaranteed group lists, the random encounters are fully random.

i've been replaying smt4 and 4a recently, and i noticed that you can really start with either game if you ever get the chance to play them
playing smt4 first might actually make 4a more confusing depending what ending you got since from what i understand it branches off of the neutral path of smt4 and Nanashi accepting Dagdas offer at the start results in a lot of changes to the timeline going
