^ I'm in the same boat on Tribes of Midgard.
Was very excited for it, came out, played it, felt absolutely disappointed. Gameplay is super simple and stays that way. The game tries to do 100 things at the same time and delivers on non of them. If you are expecting an in-depth system on anything, this is not the game for you. Not even mentioning the season pass system (iirc its free, but hella grindy just to get starting items / cosmetics?) and the weird online-singleplayer experience.
Paid like 20+$ when this came out and got 7.5 hours in it. Were they good 7.5 hours? Hell no, sadly not even with friends.

One thing I dont like about Hellsinger at all is the fact that the songs progressivly get harder to keep track of when going higher combos and you are basically missing out on the cool songs ( which are agruably the main feature of those games)
BPM gives you the songs without changes during combat
And I like their songs more

Also to me the songs of Hellsinger dont feel like they are "connected" to the game and your weapons are just there

Cassette Beasts, story focused monster collecter, my current addiction. very good. getting online MP soon.
Dinkum, think animal crossing but down under. got a dungeon and combat component but not the biggest focus, mostly a relaxed town builder. still highly, highly reccomend. (yes I have played it using a laptop and trackpad, it works fine).
Ender Lillies, actually you might have played that one, still writing it down anyways. Metroidvania, eldrich, depressing, lovely.
Frog Detective 1-3, short cute detective games, I reccomend these to anyone with a small bit of money in the pocket.
Core Keeper, sort of a base builder/exploration game, got some interesting story hidden around.
World of Goo, if you own a laptop you should own it. No I don't care that you didn't ask, go buy it.
Rabi Ribbi, RPG/Metroidvania, more metroidvania, kinda weird but very solid.
Swords and Souls Neverseen, its the classic swords and souls games from flash but now on PC and with story, very very good. go play.
I think thats just about everything I can reccomend that I myself have tested on a laptop that I highly reccomend and that fits mostly within your requests, although with a few of my own reccomendations for everyone.

The pve is decent it's kinda a weird win more puzzle thing for survival mode
Casue each round the ai gets a whole new board state and you gotta figure out how to beat them with your units that you already have and the random ones the game let's you buy each round
That mode also give durability to your units so when the whole thing dies 3 times it's deleted from your ranks and its refunded back to you
