#Tears of the Kingdom

also: am I being whiny, or is ||the mech a huge, underpowered disappointment|| and we deserve better considering ||it's basically in the runup to the endgame?||
I've been playing so much Tears of the Kingdom and Katamari Damacy lately that they've become fused in my mind. So I decided to make a bunch of Zonai devices and other things from TotK and roll them up into a big Katamari.

A little sad, but not surprising
Only thing I could have seen then add anyway, was something like Master Mode or the Champion Trials
Would have liked more of an epilogue. But it was a good end.
Now another 3-4 years before another Zelda
Another Trial of the Sword, where completing it gave you properly permanent Master Sword, would've been nice.
Since the whole subplot with the Master Sword this time was truly repairing it, but it still runs out of energy so we clearly failed.
Also Master Mode DLC, like Shadow said. Master Mode was a staple of the series for so long.
Wouldnt have minded a small DLC with a bunch of extra parts
a small or maybe not-so-small bump to the mech's base damage :/
And update to make it so parts fused to the Mech don't break until you manually unfuse them (at which point they break instantly to avoid any potential bugs with part durability).

Gah
Cant find the stupid photo anymore
urghhh
Would have to drive out to photograph that but If my eyes didnt play tricks on me they were selling Expansion Pass for TotK
also some stuff happened and now my save for breath of the wild is back to an older save im basically at the point of screw it im getting the guide book just so i can catch up quicker to where i was originally up to
Now I am questioning my own sanity
Cryo we've all been questioning your sanity
is there going to be a "actually the mech is good now" DLC
"Developers knew you would try this..."
New Zelda Tears of the Kingdom campaign seems amazing, i believe that the game launch will be BREATHTAKING!

zelda having lasting effects from the dragon form would've been cool
just... anything to show the transformation that was supposed to be irreversible had at least some form of side effects. I'd have taken recolored sclera, or little antler nubs, but nope, no marring our perfect elf princess waifu with oddness
Speedrunner Link is back, but can he beat the king of Suave?

the frog slapping at the 2:00 mark
I started Tears of the Kingdom. Having fun so far. It feels better than Breath of the Wild so far with the new abilities, but there's so much to do with the underworld and sky islands.
After 250 hours, a Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player lost an 82% complete save and declared "I'm free" until he tragically realized he could get it back
Finished the Wind Temple. The ascent up there felt like forever, but it's cool how vertical TotK is now. Explored some of the Depths now and the gloom is so annoying. Kohga is such an easy fight.
depths exploration gets faster the more you unlock. feels like I finished the last quarter of the map in like, 30 minutes
whereas at the start you could spend 30 minutes getting to one light root in the distance
I have doubled my energy cell, so I have that. I also like that the mines have materials there to build stuff.
Exploring on foot in the dark is not fun.
if you have low energy a shield + cart combo gets you places in the deep
Cool. I probably should fuse more things to my shield. I just have a cannon shield and a fire emitter shield.
shields can be used as spare weapon space too
Put weapons on them and then you can get them off later when you have space

What’s your favorite way to travel Hyrule? Awaken your sense of discovery! #Zelda #TearsoftheKingdom
Did quests for Hateno, Kakariko, Lurelin, and more stable quests. Since I did most of the hieroglyphs while doing that, I just did the rest ||to get the master sword.|| Now, I am going to Goron City to see what's happening.
quick tip about the depths: the cairn ghosts refresh their weapons on the blood moon but only if you've taken what they had. it might be worth it to mark them on the map and do a sweep once your world level is high enough
Finished the Fire Temple. The boss was much easier than the Wind Temple Boss for me and I like Yunobo's ability. It will probably have save time and weapons when breaking rocks. Gonna work on Tarrey Town quests now.
Finished the Water Temple. Not as cool as the Fire Temple and Wind Temple.
Defeated Kohga and got my battery to 5.
It's cool that you can build your own house, but I hate how blocky it is.
Now to go to the desert, my least favorite area in BotW, so let's see if it's better now.
apparently clever people have made impressive houses. not me though
it was just my weapon trophy display (link's girlfriend took down all his displays in HIS HOUSE that he BOUGHT)
For now, I am saving money for outfits than expanding the house.
Zelda did seem to take over the house when she has a whole castle.
castle was a bit more of a fixer-upper
also she was stuck there for a century she probably wanted a refresh
also, everybody knows where hyrule castle is
Having to go look for Zelda puts more effort on people just gonig there to complain
I mean, her being shacked up in Hateno wasn't a secret, she was actively teaching children at the school that she had built there between the end of BotW and the start of TotK.
Oh yeah
She and Symin were both very publically acting as the teachers at that school.
Finished the Lightning Temple. I enjoyed the light puzzles. The boss was probably the hardest one for me. I was glad that I made a mirror shield before fighting it.
Fought Phantom Ganon in Hyrule Castle.
The areas full of thunderstorms in the search for the 5th sage are so annoying. All of my stuff is metal.
Built the robot for the 5th sage. It's pretty cool, but also disappointing.
I kinda wanted a Sheikah as the 5th sage like Paya, Purah or someone else.
Robot's fun if you get them early
Sadly the mech is underpowered :(
I was expecting something I could go fight a king gleeok with, but alas
It would be cool if you could upgrade it like you can upgrade your outfits. Have a mechanic upgrade parts or something.
Coming in at the end like that there's not really room. Maybe something quick, like Legion's loyalty mission before the Normandy gets yoinked
I'd gotten it second, because I was messing around with the lightning helm and looking for shrines in the sky.
Stumbling around in the clouds for long enough to find a heart door is a very big hint that this wasn't just a secret island
The Construct vs Construct fight was interesting.
My battery is almost fully upgraded.
Gathering a bunch of chests that old maps lead to, but one is guarded by a King Gleeok. Going to do that one later.
I still haven't been to a bunch of the Depths and a few sky islands.
I also still need a bunch of money to buy all the outfits.
my strategy for gleeoks has been overwhelming firepower + slomo because I am shit at dodging so if they fire off even a single attack I just die~
I have only fought the basic fire gleeok. Not too bad. It was annoying when he blew you away with his wings and I fought him on a bridge, so sometimes I couldn't dodge his fire beams.
Just fought 5 lynels in a coliseum in the Depths, which was rough. I had to leave mid-fight to cook some food to cure gloom. I'm glad the coliseum doesn't reset if there isn't a red moon.
I still have a lot of coliseums left to do. I wish it was easier to activate the sage's abilities.
Finally going to the Lost Woods. I haven't done it yet since I didn't know how to navigate it, but apparently you are supposed to enter from below.
Saved the Korok forest. I hate fighting the gloom hands, but the Phantom Ganon is easy.
Didn't know the battery can be double charged, so I have 11 full batteries.
Fought a few temple bosses in the Depth. So much easier now that I have more hearts and gear.
Did all the labyrinths.
Did all the sky islands beside the three with King Gleeoks.
Got the Yiga Clan outfit, infiltrated their base, became a blademaster, learned their technique, and obtained their Lightning helm.
Probably going to look up a guide to get the parts of outfits that I lack.
maximum effort, dang. I just upgraded the sheika outfit to level 3 and that carried me to the end
I upgraded the twilight tunic, hylian hood, and hylian trousers to max for 60 defense.
It's funny how weak the thunder gleeok is when you wear the lightning helm. Too bad you probably can't be fireproof, lightningproof, and unfreezable at the same time for the King Gleeok.
I got most of the outfits now. I am now only missing the Radiant outfit for 2400 rupees, the Twilight cap which is guarded by a gloom King Gleeok, and the outfit you get for doing all the shrines.
Going after Sage's wills now with a guide. I wished I knew which ones I already got. I know 3 are guarded by King Gleeoks though.
collecting the evil spirit set is really something else though, isn't it?
orbit to underground
technological tour de force
Yeah, the labyrinths were annoying, but it was kinda satisfying to freefall all the way down. Fighting my first Flux Construct III was interesting, but they become very easy after a while.
Took out all 4 King Gleeoks. The sky island ones have pillars that you can hide behind and climb up to jump off and shoot arrows into its eyes. For the one in the depths, I used keese eyes to autoaim into their eyes. It's not too bad once you get used to it. Lynels are probably a bigger pain to fight.
Got all the Sage's Wills, maxed out my weapon inventory, and maxed out my battery.
I got 10 shrines left to do. It's nice that I can use the lightroots to find where they are, but most of what's left are in caves. Finding a cave entrance is sometimes a pain.
cheesed the gleeoks by using the stone slabs from depths caches to make a 'tower'. spawn tower in, use ascend to climb it, immediately jump off. you are now in slo mo. use lynel bow to fire keese missiles into the gleeok's eyes
Do the gleeoks never destroy the tower? With keese eyes, you can easily just shoot them from the ground.
your creations are indestructible. and really the whole idea is to make sure they're stunlocked
spawn tower, ascend, jump, slomo, keese attack to their heads so they fall down, go ham
when they get back up? run to tower, jump off, slomo..
(I die instantly if I can't stunlock)
actually not indestructable
they can break apart if sufficient dmg is dealt
the connections are not untouchable
single parts if not flamable are not destroyed
but a construct as a whole can be taken apart
Not all creations are. Only some of ones made of the stone-like material that are found in Zonai Shrines and near many of the various Zonai buildings.
The speedrun strat where they kill Ganon's AI by not touching the ground again after he does a certain attack relies on a very specific part that is one of those few that are indestructible, since otherwise the certain attack would destroy it and prevent them from not touching the ground again.
... temptation to replay the game.. goddamnit. I already have things to play
Finished the shrines, looked up and did the quests that I missed (besides the compendium), and built up my home (mostly stands for unique weapons)
Beat Ganondorf. That final dungeon and final battle is much better than BotW. That final battle much be a pain if you don't do any of the sages or get the master sword.
yeah, but why would you ever (unless speedrunning)
