To clarify, it was me who suggested that for users who have Kiro ID already, checking out is for $0 (without discount code). This was based on my own experience (and other users). I've pasted a whole set of screenshots previously from my own upgrade (as a user who previously paid and thus had the user ID) where it's visible that there's $0 price for the pro+ plan listed during the stripe process.

Although in our cases we were users who paid in the past but didn't have an ongoing subscription (such users are listed in the hackathon rules as the same category with users who have an ongoing one).

I'd start with providing details of your case. For example, whether you've registered to the hackathon with your ID before or after payment. EDIT: It's been mentioned in your previous messages that you did provide the ID

Let's hope Sara resolves this on her end in the meanwhile. Did you reach out to her like she asked to?

In the case it doesn't get resolved via either Devpost or Kiro channels, I can offer a reimbursement of the Pro/Pro+ difference from my private money, since it was my answer that led you to pay.

@languid bough no thank you man. I appreciate the gesture. But as I said earlier I don't mind. More credits for me to implement my hackathon idea. But I was wondering since I upgraded from pro to pro +. From the upgrade I got 1k (from my own money). While everyone else participating is getting 2k. So I'm 2k short of what everyone else got. Do I get like the 2k from kiroween event or no? I'm forced to compete with my 1k credits which are from my sub plan.

Yes you should. You need to directly reach out to Sara from Devpost here ,or to Janet from Devpost via email that's linked on Kiroween website.

So far I haven't heard from anyone that they got the credits without either directly reaching out to them or without checking out (which seem to be working for 2 out of 3 groups of users, excluding currently paying ones)

Because if you advertise an event, and you openly say to everyone "welcome to join" then do it. I'm currently left in the dark from their side I'll wait and see.

"never paid kiro before?" in your case it's no, right after it you have "Important: if you have paid, do not follow these steps instead see the instructions below" and the instruction below tell you to wait and not enter any coupon so the error is yours

See, the rules put the groups of "users who paid in the past" and "users who pay currently" together. But in reality, they're treated separately.

For "users who paid in the past" there is a workaround where if you do Stripe check out, you end up seeing on the 2nd Stripe page that your Pro+ will cost $0 (without using the code).

This unfortunately turned out not being the case for "users who pay currently". So they have no other option than to wait till they get the free credits applied manually.

But some users don't get them - either the "issues with Kiro ID" you suggested, or being lost in the system and going through days of back & forth - I believe a common situation where there are two organizers for the event, stuff like that just happens.

For both users who expressed that theyr'e still waiting for the credits, I've passed the Kiro ID to be checked directly by Kiro Staff and hopefully it will get resolved.

One of the devpost organizers replied with this:

"According to the Kiro team, your next invoice will automatically be $0 as it will use those credits to pay for the invoice."

Lol. So at 1st of December? And I have like 5 days to enter and use the 2k credits along with 1k that I got charged for because there was no "apply coupon" textbox in my case so I just subbed to a higher plan.

I guess I'll use my credits till end of month. Then revert back to cursor unless this is resolved from their end. Because if you're advertising for an event and you say "everybody is welcome to join" then your word must be taken up..

Also, yes I noticed that too, they don't lower the price anymore but they still expect the subscription to work only until the end of the month

UPDATE: Based on research, this is not the case for everyone, some previously-paying users do get prorated price, some don't, just dunno when.

yeah, on 2nd page it doesn't seem to show up. I am thinking of just letting it go and buy the Pro version or work on project myself. I saw someone mentioning about being credited 2000 credits for kiroween but those seem to not have been added as well.

Cause this price could be lower than $40 due to prorating but still higher than $40 with taxes included

There had to be either of two things happening:

  • a change in Kiro payments settings. Because I clearly paid $0 for a "previously-paying-but-not-anymore-user"
  • an issue with Kiro ID which some users report

Existing subscribers are the case I don't know how to handle. I've personally raised this topic during the Office Hours, reached out to the team after that, nothing happened. Not much I can do more. What I know is that during the next hackathon I'll pretend I'm not here.
