It's a whole second town that feels (at least to me) the most complete "town" feeling.

Eastscarp feels like an extension of pelican town. Sve just... Well expands sve. Mineral town feels... Off? It's hard to say. Might get better with updates.

Can't say anything about sunberry, haven't had a chance yet.

Edit: like you can break Ridgeside off into it's own game and it could completely stand on its own is my point* the others feel like they need base SVE to exist.

I'm not sure what you mean by "work for mods." Changing the branch in steam will downgrade your steam installation of Stardew to version 1.5.6. It's up to you to make sure you have the correct version of SMAPI and all of your mods installed after that

I use notepad++ to open the mods as a folder (workspace)

make sure you put .json in the filter or it will take much much longer
