A few tips. Plant your parsnip seeds on day 1. Be sure to water them. Then head into town and look for forageables, conspicuous things on the ground that you can pick up and you can sell, eat or gift.
Watch the TV every day. You'll get game tips. When it announces that spring onions are growing, head south of your farm to find some. They are best eaten since they aren't worth much.
When Salmonberry season is announced, head out every day of the season and gather salmonberries. There are bushes all over the map in every location except the beach. These are also best eaten, and are such a plentiful food source that they can last you most of the rest of year 1 until you can start making better foods, like cheese.

And check your mail every day.

Don't remove all the grass if you're not absolutely using all of the area for some kind of building and crops. Keep tufts here and there so the grass will regrow and you can scythe it repeatedly for hay several times a year.

So datable villagers have 8 hearts with them. If they are red, that is a finished heart. At different heart levels you can get different heart events unique to each character.

These datable villagers have 2 grayed our hearts. You unlock this by giving them a Bouquet once you hit 8 hearts with them. This will unlock the last 2 hearts.

Once you get 10 hearts, you can give them a mermaids pendant and marry them. From here 4 more hearts will unlock with this villager, and 14 hearts is the max you can get

Luau is gone to to help increase friendship points. There's a ton of different crops you can put, some give good responses or bad depending. The easiest one is buying a beer from the saloon and you get a small amount of friendship points with everyone. I'd recomend you go to the wiki and find out if you can get any of the "best" responses
