I think the check button is to open chests, doors, fence gates and to interact with NPCs

Hello! I have never participated in a frenzy event before but from what I know it allows you to catch more of that frenzy fish at a specific bubble spot. I recommend not waiting for the event to fish for that specific fish if that is what you are going for. You can always fish Pufferfish in summer other days just fine
