Depends on how much you focus it, can be a slog though. Early fiber glass rod with bait helps a ton to pick up the pace. I find I'm partial to mountain lake, prefer river during rain for catfish.

Firstly - Welcome, glad to have another new farmer to the game I'd suggest don't sell any of your wood, stone, fiber, sap when clearing your farm, they're useful for crafting. Take advantage of early game fishing, it's quite good for money and take your time to explore the game and find what you like to do, don't rush. Also, feel free to ask questions here. If you have trouble with fishing there is a cheap rod that makes it easier but limits the type of fish you can catch. Found that one helpful myself

The secret woods would be your best bet for daily hard wood, you can break the smaller stumps on your farm with a copper axe, steel axe for the larger logs and to gain access to the secret woods. You could also plant mahogany seeds you gain from chopping stumps, etc to plant into mahogony trees to chop down. As an aside, I would probably delete the comment as it mentions something that's post CC/joja content

A lot of the most useful crafting recipes you unlock from leveling up the different skills
As for farming, harvesting crops you've grown is definitely the best way to level up. Animals can help too with some XP, as well as being a nice source of income

For cooking, the first house upgrade unlocks the kitchen. The cookout kit is also a temporary option, allowing you to cook recipes without the kitchen but only lasts a day, you can craft it once you reach foraging lvl 3 iirc.
Decorations you can buy from Robin, but you won't really have access to many and they won't be so cheap. As you progress you'll earn catalogues that give you access to a whole lot of furnitures.
To unlock recipes faster there isn't much you can do besides just getting more XP to level up skills. Some recipes are also sold, so check out the vendors around town to see if they have something that interests you
