If you’re just starting out, hold off on making things pretty. Time and money is at a premium, so focus on convenience until you find ways to make traversing your farm faster. Theres lots of decorations at festivals, so once you got your farm ready try to save a bit of money for festival days

If we're talking fishing as per the context of the original question, people go for Angler.
As for the other professions:

• Farming: Tiller > Artisan
• Combat: In general: Fighter > (Whatever suits your style) / Mace Weapons: Scout > Acrobat
• Foraging: In general: Forester > Lumberjack / Truffles: Gatherer > Botanist
• Mining: uhhh, not entirely sure.

botanist is best if you’re going to rely on pigs bc it’s automatically iridium & you have a chance to pick up two because it’s forage

If I were to guess for mining though, I'd say you'd probably go for Miner and then Prospector/Blacksmith or something

But I ain't even complete CC, so take that opinion with a COMPLETE grain of salt.

Alls I know is that gem professions aren't necessary because Crystalariums exist.
