There's really no amazing floors for quartz, if you're looking for refined quartz you can just grind for broken glasses and put them through the recycling machine, if it is quartz it's self you're looking for, the first 30 levels are best. Or if you have a crystalarium you can duplicate it

iirc letting them out increases friendship with the farm animals. they don't run away, they come back at the end of the day, as long as the door to the barn/coop they exit from is left open.

they may wander through open gates, my chickens do it more than any other animal i've had in my saves, but they always come back if you leave them access to the coop

Winter is a good time to grow fiber if you have the recipe from doing community cleanup, and winter seeds which you can get by putting winter root in a seed maker. You can hoe any dirt patches in town for a chance to find winter root. For that reason I like to upgrade my hoe before Y1 winter (gold if possible). You can keep that those as back pocket goals in fall
