I'm pretty sure you can connect a controller with Bluetooth. It may make it easier if you're playing mobile. I grew up playing SNES, Nintendo DS and 3DS, Xbox 360 and then Xbox One so controller is easiest for me.

If you have an Xbox , Switch Joy-Cons, or a PlayStation controller all you have to do is get it to where it's in pairing mode then turn the Bluetooth on your phone on and pair the controller to your phone. My friend does it all the time because she absolutely hates mobile controls but loves playing while lying down 🤣

It's been two or three years since I played. My previous save file, obviously pre 1.6, is on year five, and has a couple dozen million dollars. It's been so long since I played, I couldn't tell you most of the specifics about that save file. I remember something about a parrot, or golden walnuts, or something. There are rings that provide light, you basically have to get lucky. You can carry a torch (use pick, axe, or hoe on a torch in the mines or craft one) but you can't use your weapon at the same time. There's a ring you can craft but it uses 5 iron bars

You'll get a better weapon on level 20. If you're really struggling complete the bug eradication for the guild

The hard thing about beach is you have to handwater all crops for a very long time since sprinklers dont work

I wish I could give you an answer but I only ever have played on the OG Farm. If anything I would say, no matter what do what think is right for you and, it is Stardew Valley I don't think things can get crazy 'hard' so to speak. So pick what you want. I'm traditionalist so I like to go for the OG for the first time.
