It does, but by then you can afford to buy it. It's why I advise against clear-cutting your farm at the very start.
Only clear out what areas you need for your crops and buildings, allowing the rest to go wild. That wild area will have a lot of grass you can scyeth for hay, leaving tufts here and there that can spread and fill in, allowing for multiple hay harvests per year. Likewise, with trees you can chop them down for a steady supply of wood, allowing the seeds that fall from them to spread and grow more trees, or picking up those seeds with a tool and planting them in a more convenient location or arrangement.
Of course you'll want to clear out weeds and debris, rocks and those little logs, and the big boulders, stumps and big fallen logs when you can.
A clear-cut farm might look nice, but it gives you absolutely nothing. You'll have it all cleared out eventually, just don't make the mistake of doing it too early and robbing yourself of valuable and renewable resources.

Best advice I can give for newcomers is to watch the TV every morning before you leave the house. It will give you game tips and recipes, and alert you to events.
When it tells you that Salmonberry Season has arrived (Spring 15-18), go out every day and pick berries from all the bushes with pink dots on them. They will appear on every map but the Farm and the Beach, with the greatest number of berry bushes being in Cindersap, south of your farm.
Salmonberries aren't worth it to sell, but you can get so many of them that they will keep you fed for weeks, if not months.
In the meantime you can eat cheap forageables and fish, saving your more expensive crops and fish to sell.

At first I tried selling it sinc tv told me it will give me additional income, but its not worth much so I figured its mean as a source of energy and sometimes I gift it to villagers.
