There are three things that could help, outside mods

||Blessings of Statue has one of the bless giving 0.5 speed+, both wind book gives another 0.5+ speed combined, coffee and food are two separate buffs that can tally up to total of 2, so on a good day, you can have 3+ speed buff at once||

If your friend is still faster than you despite not having these or having same buffs, they probably cheatin or somethin I guess, lol

Truffles are still extremely good compared to other animals but yeah, still somewhat pale in comparison and also takes up sizeable space to scale up
