Try and go on a good luck day with good luck rings and buffs to have a higher chance of getting a staircase on each level

Well for progress you want to just find ladders and go, getting ore/gems that are conveniently in the way.

For actual ore farming, you jsut reset an elevator floor, like floor 20 for copper.
