I go for the mushroom cave as I’ve found that the common mushrooms are a good early game source of energy (especially when mining). The other mushrooms can be used in a recipe which regenerates a lot of energy. That recipe is unlocked once you reach combat level 2.

Parsnip is technically better, if you want exp, but you need a lot of energy to actually use that bonus

You can plant 7 parsnips for every 2 kales, and they grow faster too

So in time you collect 4 kales you can get 21 parsnips for the same gold on the start

The problem is, you need to tend to 3.5 more plant tiles in that time

I actually grew kale myself, but because it gives good energy/value, not because of exp
