Solution

There are also other ways of obtaining Pearls which are unaffected by obtaining this Pearl.

I dont spend any money on day 1, collect all the forageables, get some fiber and stuff and basically sell everything I get on day 1, and also meet everyone except willy (cause you can only meet him on day 2). Then on day 2 I meet willy, get the money for finishing that quest after giving him a gift(I save like 1 fiber for this) which puts me at almost enough money for the rod. I then fish in front of his shop a little bit, sell the fish and buy the rod
