After 1am, you have an energy restoration penalty that only gives half of your current missing energy restored.

So if you're near full energy, it's not going to make you lose it.

if for example you're trying to mass produce something then putting them in kegs (make sure to change to artisan before selling it), then it's also worth it

You make money through animal products and through farming the winter forageables (unlike in other seasons, the produce itself is worth more than the winter seeds, so just keep turning over crop harvests and selling the excess)

Other than that, I think for the other three seasons there is a tendency to want to maximize income from farming, so other activities that take place outside the farm get neglected (especially for newer players that haven't figured out how to fully optimize every waking minute). Winter is the perfect time to work on all of those. Go mining in order to fully upgrade all your tools in preparation for the next year, take time to more thoroughly work on your relationships with the townsfolk, etc.

if you're focusing on farming, go for iridium sprinklers (don't forget the battery pack), if you're heavily focusing on mining though it's best to go for crystalarium because they can dupe minerals (except prismatic shard) ||and you can trade desert traders (ruby for spicy eel, staircase for a jade every sunday)||, you can also gift them to villagers, they mostly like diamonds and some people love them, or you can upgrade your tools
