You set the product and wait for it to increase in quality over time. Example: I put base wine in and over time it'll go up to silver, then gold, then iridium quality at the end. You pull out the product when it's at the desired quality.

If you have grass placed underneath the fence posts, you'll always have a source for it to regrow from a bit each day that the animals can't eat. If you're finding they're overeating the grass you could always add more grass starter/expand the pen.
