You can grab hay from the hay hopper if you have a silo with hay in it

And you should pet your animals every day

Hay inside the Building that you refill manually until you get the Building to Tier 3
Or Grass outside if the door is open and the weather is clear and isn’t winter. Eating grass and being able to go outside makes them happier

You can also pet them once a day to increase their happiness
