Otherwise, Blueberries are good as a raw sell crop. Melons are also decent, both for selling or processing. If you're willing to deal with the daily processing/trellis, Hops are extremely good in kegs

Your goal is to get deeper, every 5 floors is a check point.
So for starters, just hit small rocks until you find a ladder. Ignore big Boulders. Ignore the light gray rocks until you have an upgraded pick (since they take 2 hits with the basic pickaxe)

Copper/Gem rocks are pretty obvious, and you'll want to mine those when you see them.

Monsters can also drop ladders, and swingin your sword doesn't take energy, so if you're fine with combat, that's also an option.

There's no point in hitting every rock once a ladder is found though (unless you want stone)

A copper pick can 1 hit them, but for now it's two hits, so to save energy ideally you avoid them.
