Not really. Color coding them is helpful for organizing though. And later on the workbench helps with crafting without having to pull all the ingredients into your inventory first.

Yeah, they aren't great. The profit is better when you're using seed makers instead of purchasing them, but I still wouldn't invest much in them.

A lot of people fall into that trap. I did. You kind of have to find out the hard way sometimes, and the long grow time combined with having to sacrifice half your crop to the seedmaker to keep the whole process going makes SGB farming an unrewarding experience, to say the least.
