Farming is actually better than fishing, but you have to put in the effort to make things like jars, kegs, mayo machines, cheese presses for the Artisan goods.
Fishing is good early game money, but if you keep relying on it for too long you'll fall behind even the average farmer in terms of moneymaking.

In 4 days (the 15th) the TV will announce the beginning of salmonberry season. From the 15th to the 18th you should venture out every day, across every map but the beach, and shake every bush dotted with pink berries that you can find.
Salmonberries aren't worth selling, but they make a good early-game food source that should keep you energized and healthy for weeks and maybe even months to come. You'll find so many that running out of energy will cease to be a problem and you can do more with your days.

OK so my math is based off 100 plants.

Rhubarb gets 2 harvests and costs 20,000 to get 200 plants for 2 harvests. At a base quality those 200 rhubarb will sell for 44,000.

That's a profit of 24,000.

Strawberries will cost 10,000 for 100 plants. If you plant on egg festival day you get 2 harvests and at 130g per berry a total of 26,000 or 16,000 profit.

If you plant at the start of the season you get 5 harvests and a total of 65,000 or 55,000 profit.
