The best crop in spring yr 1 is going to be strawberries for profits. You can access these on Spring 13 at the egg festival. If you can’t afford them, I recommend going cauliflower and potatoes. Before the festival, I typically plant potatoes. As for the first seven days, everyone plays differently. My typical strategies are day 1 clearing farm, foraging, and meeting some people day 2-4 fishing, day 5 unlock community center and go to the mines, days 6 and 7 either fishing or mining depending on my daily luck.

When you say cook, just making sure you know that you don’t just like cook a fish (I thought you had to cook them to eat them when I started). You cook a recipe that calls for the fish. You can interact with fish raw in the game (such as eating, selling, etc)
