It won't work on cranberries. It works on everything else if you start it early enough. Check the crop charts on the Wiki. They will tell you the latest you can plant to get an extra harvest.

the general preferred way, if you're farming for them hardcore, is to slap on a Burglar's Ring (Monster Slayer reward for 500 dust sprites) and then farm bugs. The drop rate is reasonably high.

Well, you want to chop as many tree per day as you can. You'll have to commit to it for a few days
I do recommend you to melt 5 copper ingots and save 2000 gold, so you can upgrade your axe.

the primary determiner of fish quality is distance from shore (it's a simplification, but mostly true). The further from land, the better - note that it counts all land, so standing on one side of the river and casting to the other side is still bad. Fishing level also plays a smaller part.

kegs are just a straight x3 multiplier to most fruits (and x2.25 or x2.4 to veggies, I forget which) so you mostly want to keg expensive things. The bigger the price tag, the better - starfruit, ancient fruit, pumpkin, rhubarb, melon

jars are x2 + 50, so anything smaller is good for them. They're also faster - 2 day processing time to kegs' 6.5d (kegs are 4d for veggies) so better for bulk crops. Cranberries, blueberries, etc

ok so first of all there is the obvious planting crops
for spring the best crop is strawberries and until you buy them at the festival potatoes
for summer blueberries are the best if you sell them like that but melons are better if you plan on putting them at jars or kegs
for fall cranberries are like blueberries pumpkins are like melons
while the crops are growing you can do fishing which gets decent money, you can make sprinklers so that the crops get watered and you don't have to spend energy nad time doing it youself
another good money making method which you should do especially in winter is tea plants, if you get caroline to 2 hearts and then go to the sunroom in caroline's kitchen she will give you the recipe for tea saplings which is 2 wild seeds 5 wood 5 fiber each sapling sells for 500(don't plant just sell the sapling) so if you grow a lot of these wild seeds and then at the end turn all into tea saplings you will get a lot of money
when you go further in the game kegs are really good money making method, you get the recipe in farming 8 and basically if you put expensive fruit in them they turn into wine which is really expensive, so if you make a lot of these kegs you can get really good money

To be a little less vague, I always use espresso and spicy eel. Try to have at least 100 staircases, the more the better. Galaxy sword is preferable. Some good foods are salads from Gus and gold quality cheese from your farm
