unfortunately no, it would only mildly increase your odds of harvesting higher rarity crops (and maybe a couple other things I'm missing.) you don't unlock those recipes until you hit the level permanently. sorry :(

there are a couple ways but they're not as reliable. the first is to get lucky with the travelling cart, and the second is to find them in the fruit bat cave (which isn't available if you chose mushrooms)
