Getting an upgraded water can is very useful for larger fields and when you don't have sprinklers.

Stones will get tougher the further down you go, an upgraded pickaxe ensures you only need one swing and saves energy.

i would just recommend getting to know the area and meeting everyone, u can then start planting ur crops and buying crops. More things unlock on the 5th of spring so id spend the first 5 days doing that

Plant 40 parsnips on day 1 and get foragables. Day 2, fish in the mountain. Till day 5 and make sure you water your parsnips each day. Then bring 14 normal quality parsnips and foragables (keep once of each foragable in each season, same with each crop in the Commmunity center.) and a pickaxe then mine. And mine for a few days depending on luck

This is a suggestion based on what I do.
I would plant the 15 Parsnips you get, and when grown keep one for the community center.
While you are waiting for them to grow forage as much as you possibly can, and sell everything but keep one of each as you need them for community center too (except spring onions).
Save up all of your money dont spend it if you are able, you want it to get as many strawberries as you can when you get to the egg festival on the 13th. This will bring you great profit.
On day 6 the mine opens so you can mine to pass time or complete quests.

The more strawberries you are able to get the more money you will end with when the season ends.

Though, this is more suited if you are more of a farmer than a fisher. Sushis suggestion would be more suited if your a fisher. ^^
