One thing thats great to keep in mind while playing stardew is that you pretty much cant do something wrong. There are no deadlines or anything, you cannot miss out on content, since everything is bound to happen again 
Seasons repeat, birthdays do, events and festivals as well, so you got plenty of time to accomplish everything, no need to rush

blueberries are good for summer if you sell them raw, melons are better if you can process them.
You unlock certain machines to make your products more valuable when levelling up farming. They pick up the pace a lot
same in fall, cranberries if sold raw, pumpkins if processed

You can’t pick wrong (shrooms versus bats). Both help out with bundles. Mushrooms help out with money, fruit help out with more bundles. I went with mushrooms and was happy.

Both caves are a fine choice. Fruit bats help with bundle completion and easy gifts while mushrooms help with early-game energy and a little money. Both become kind of obsolete toward mid-late game. That being said, I still recommend getting at least an apple and pomegranate tree if you go with fruit cave. They are a little inconsistent with those drops in my experience.
