bats' advantage is that they drop fruit tree fruit, which is needed for community centre completion. Specifically, you need any one fruit for the Artisan bundle (unlocks greenhouse, very good to finish this before winter year 1), which is nearly guaranteed by bat cave.

You also need three apples and one pomegranate, but praying for multiples of a specific fruit is... well, praying. No guarantee you'll get them, and the odds of apple are 2% per fruit spawn.
