Normal ones are not that great. Once you hit level 6(?) farming, you’ll get the recipe for the better Quality Sprinkler.

I feel like regular sprinklers are just too resource cost-ineffective for what they offer.

if your barn or coop door stays open the animals will always be ok

if they outside and the door closes

the past few maps I did, I would just let my animals do whatever

still good to fence in areas you don't want them to be but they don't need a fence themselves

fencing them in is for your own comfort mostly

that way they don't run around when you're tending to your crops

or you don't have to check the entire map for truffles in case of pigs
