It depends how far into game are you. When you already have high profit infrasrtucre set up you are most likely already buying coal. If not then I would go with prospector.

It has a late-game use, but Artisan is better to have until you reach that point.

focus on predicting the fish movements, each fish has a typical behavior pattern - how much they jump around, if they rise quickly at the beginning or anything, etc. Once you get a feel for it it'll help you both tell what fish youre catching and how to treat it

Also get a feel for how the bar itself moves. It's acceleration based:
If it's falling and you press the button to raise it, it first has to slow down from its descent, then it stops, then it starts rising again. It may be non-intuitive at first, but you just have to get used to it; it feels right with practice.

Combine these and you can do stuff like prematurely slowing/raising the bar up/down before the fish has stopped moving because you know it'll stop somewhere, prevent bouncing off the bottom because it's moving too fast, and just be more accurate and smooth overall
