Blueberries are most people's default crop for just selling straight. If you have kegs Wheat is cheap to buy and quick to turn out (makes beer in a keg). Melon is good in both Kegs or Jars

Hops is also good for the same reason as Wheat, but is a Trellis crop which I personally don't like

If mining, targetting the Gray rocks is best. If you have the level 5 miner perk, you'll get 2 coal from them when they drop it.

Other than that, charcoal kiln is the only remaining option... Which isnt awful. In year 1 it's actually cheaper to buy wood from Robin and make it into coal than to buy from clint

Though fishing may not be the top earner in the game, especially on the farm, it is going to be helpful for you to make money through fishing during the season (if you are trying to earn money). Are you limiting yourself to one trip off the farm or one day off the farm per season? If it’s a whole day, you can always return and place things in a chest once your inventory fills.
