If you have free space away from your animals, grow it there and just let it spread. Also spread out the starter a bit, like you would sprinklers, so they each have their own room to spread around

For animals, something you can do is place down grass around where you plant to put fences, then put the fences on top of the grass

THis prevents the animals from eating the grass under the fence, but it will still try to spread in the morning, making a sort of Make-shift feeder, and helping curb some of your hay costs

If you're to the point where you just don't have space to grow it, and have too many animals, suck it up and buy the hay. It's not worth it to fuss over growing grass, the animals will all still be profitable.

Processing is your friend.

Preserve Jars and Kegs. Also how much space do you have for farming and do you have sprinklers? A bit plot of land with crops is the best way to go, but you'll want sprinklers to cover it, so you don't have to spend time watering it.

If they don't already have the ancient fruit, a quicker way to money, or at least while waiting for ancient fruit to grow, is hops

Hops will give them a faster cash injection to help ramp up to ancient fruit wine

Get ancient fruit in your greenhouse, and for your main land. Rhubarb in spring (or strawberries you have the seeds ready on day 1), Starfruit in Summer, and Pumpkins in fall are the best money maker crops if you process them into wine/juice

You can get them from Magma/Omni geodes or Mystic stones, but that's an incredibly unreliable way to get a lot of them. SC is the intended main source for it.

Yes. It will make the green bar bigger, which can help you. I've used it until I was level 4, and then switched to another rod. It gets easier with levelups, since the green bar gets bigger.

It can be discouraging not catching anything. The training rod can teach you while giving the positive reinforcement of actually catching fish.

It's not a given that you'll catch something, but it helps a lot.

Sell your produce, but eat some of the cheaper forageables early on, such as Spring Onions to start. Gather as many salmonberries as you can when they come in season (Spring 15-18) and those will make a good food source, because you can get hundreds of them if you look for them ever day of the season.
Samonberries can keep you fed and energized most of the rest of the year until you can get better foods, like cheese.
