Actually, the decay is suuuper slow, so i just ignore it. Also whenever you go into town just talk to whoever is in your way maybe just quick skip the dialoge with button smash. It actually pays off really well with occasional gifts, recipes, items, unlocks and entertaining cutscenes (which keeps the game fresh)
