You could make a folder like ".modifed" and keep copies of mods you've edited in it.
That way you won't lose your work if you need to update something and can copypaste the images or jsons.
(I tend to forget which mods I've edited so this helps. 😂 )
i also had to modify most if not all the manifests to add dependencies <.<

That mod is broken to begin with. Chances are that the assets they gave you were the fixed versions of the one without the cellar.
I don't quite understand, but you're saying that you downloaded a fresh copy and the cellar appeared? So would that mean that the cellar version is fixed?

it's a bug in the FTM pack that tries to spawn something there, probably not anything important
it's not necessarily that the files changed, might be just that file associations changed so they changed icons
if it works normally, it shouldn't be anything to worry about

Hi!I tried to install the UI Info Suite 2 mod on my own, but once again an error pops up. please help .
Okay cool, as far as the yellow text it is some objects in farmer to florist, and mermaid island .. is there a mod I am missing that adds these items. I am known to over look stuff but I have been over the mods and requirements over and over 😦
the farmer to florist yellow messages are probably because you have the DGA version that is just broken, you can get the json assets version instead and it should work (it's in the old files section on the farmer to florist nexus page). the yellow messages from the mermaid island are probably a bug in the mod

I found my mistake, downloaded everything correctly, but an error still pops up that, like, update to a new version of the mod, ALTHOUGH I just installed the NEWEST VERSION

I recently reinstalled my OS to upgrade to Kubuntu 22.04 and as such reinstalled the game entirely. It worked perfectly fine with 20.04 but it doesn't work with the most recent LTS.

As a probably unrelated aside, I've had very bad luck with KUbuntu. Imo Fedora or an Arch based distro is a better fit for KDE, though even KDE neon is probably pretty good.
As Ubuntu's KDE version is so old I was constantly fighting it trying to fix stuff.
I don't have any issues with it. And I'm running ubuntu for several reasons. But that's not a topic to be discussed here I think :)

Ever since I updated SMAPI, it won't load the game. It gets to a certain point and then just sits there doing nothing. With the previous version, I had 117 mods including SVE, and the game launched in no more than 2 minutes.
I get no errors.
What I've already tried:
uninstalling and reinstalling SMAPI multiple times = no change
uninstalling and reinstalling the game = no change
removed 19 mods = no change
tried to launch the game without SVE = no change
installed SMAPI 3.14.6 = no change
installed SMAPI 3.15 beta = no change
On one attempt, I waited 25 minutes and got this:
src\steamnetworkingsockets\clientlib\steamnetworkingsockets_lowlevel.cpp (1873) : Assertion Failed: SteamnetworkingSockets service thread waited 92ms for lock! This directly adds to network latency! It could be a bug, but it's usually caused by general performance problem such as thread starvation or a debug output handler taking too long.
I have tried for 3 hours every day since the update to figure out how to fix it and have gotten nowhere. Please help!

The steam sockets thing is too many other background processes
Generally when people have extremely slow loading it's an antivirus issue
You may need to whitelist the whole game folder
In addition to whitelisting SMAPI itself
The only antivirus that I have(that I know of) is Windows Security and Stardew is listed in the firewall to be allowed. SMAPI isn't on the list though

However, this does not mean anyone is guaranteed to work on your idea—modders who are looking for ideas sometimes go through and work on what they find interesting off this list. Defender's real time AV can definitely do it. Its exclusions are separate from the firewall, and it would classify smapi as a different executable than sdv
And it absolutely butchers disk io and/or game loading when it doesn't like something.

Rimworld takes like 8x longer to save when I have real time defender on.
Exclusions should be in the windows security menu.

Okay. These are my system specs though I can't see how that would be the issue either since SMAPI worked perfectly with the 3.14.4 version. My issue started with the 3.14.5 update
I thought maybe it switched GPUs after updating, as someone else was having similar issues
But that doesnt appear to be the case.
IDK what else to try though. You could try temporarily turning off real-time AV I guess?

Maybe start from scratch and redownload your mods

And re install sdv as well

@tired brook I think I need your help. I've tried everything that's been suggested and there's no change to my issue.
Here's a update on what I've tried:

Which textures? Content Patcher doesn't set texture names at all, that's handled by SMAPI.

the texture name is null
SpriteMaster didn't change anything
When a texture is loaded through a content manager, SMAPI just sets the Name to the asset that was requested. That bit is pretty straightforward, not sure why it wouldn't work unless something is creating textures manually and overriding them.
I believe this is happening to vanilla textures too? let me see if I can find a more sure example

For some reason smapi shows me this when I try to run it and now I can no longer even open the game.
@tired brook I was having a similar issue to @golden hinge and had tried all the steps they were given and those they tried before coming to the discord, with the exception of uninstalling and reinstalling the base game. However, I had noticed a similar line near the end of all my error logs:

So I thought that since things would get stuck the instant that the game window popped up maybe it was a problem with multiple displays. So I tried unplugging the thunderbolt cable from my laptop, and running the game just on my laptop screen, and it started working. I added my mods back in, and it continued to work. Then I reconnected the thunderbolt cord to my laptop and it's still working. I figured I would send this message to add to the list of potential solutions.
Does anyone knows why i get this? I have enabled all the permissions :/
This is probably the invalid window location issue. It's generally fixed by deleting the startup prefs.

How's your antivirus?
Often this kind of issue is related to an overzealous antivirus
You may need to whitelist SMAPI and/or the game directory
You can also try checking that the game is running on your dedicated graphics card if you have one

Occasionally they're portraiture mods that you drop inside the Portraiture folder, which is a bit more involved
yeah those are the ones that im a little confused about, are they usually a folder because when i downloaded a portrait mod it gave me a single file
Files with the extension .zip, .rar, or .7z are archive files, which you can extract to get the actual files inside. For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. For .rar and .7z, you need to install third-party software first, like 7-zip https://7-zip.org on Windows, Keka https://keka.io on macOS, PeaZip https://peazip.github.io on Linux, or ZArchiver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver on Android.

I’ve also noticed that when I “unlock” the missing recipes it just shows one of the indoor plants and not the actual item on the level up screen
are you using dga for those recipes? I dont have too much knowledge so other than that I probably wouldnt know
dga has a problem with showing items as an ingredient for indoor plants

It'll be in this folder on Windows: C:\Users\<your Windows username>\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley.
I have no idea because all the jsons dont have recipes or a leveling up reward. It might be one of your other mods conflicting with it

My sibling just gave me all of their mods to use so we can play together. But, it keeps crashing once I enter a new zone? It feels like it's trying to load all of the mods for that new area at the same time, and so I have to restart the game, and I can enter the area it tries to load.

What happens if I have 2 mods at the same time on my folder that change buildings, like for example stardew foliage redone and flower valley at the same time
smapi will tell you with a message along the lines of "2 mods tried to load image, neither will be applied" otherwise the mod that loads last will overwrite the other
Depends whether they're editing the same specific files, and how they're doing it if so.

Looks like it's loading, but extremely slowly. 10-60 seconds per edit is pretty unusual, it should be a fraction of a second for all of the edits to that file.

- try it again to see if it still happens;

They change how image edits are applied, so if it's due to the GPU calls then it might be much faster.

Load times and performance is something we're actively working on. If you haven't already, updating to the latest versions of all your mods may help (especially SMAPI and Content Patcher). You can also try the beta versions of SMAPI and Content Patcher, which have an experimental change to further reduce load times.
My friend needs help! His game isn't able to join mine. His Smapi log says it's because Content Patcher is missing but he's got Content Patcher, and its up to date.

Hi so I just got the game and was trying to download the DC Burger's High Res Portraits. But I seem to can't install them the files have a different ending from those of the original and when I try to change them if crashes the game help.

That's weird. If you reinstall SMAPI 3.14.4 (you can download it under 'old files' on the Nexus page) and Content Patcher 1.26.5 now, and keep everything else the same, does it work fine?
The high-res portrait feature from PyTK doesn't work with the SMAPI / Content Patcher betas yet; I sent a bug report to the author, so hopefully they'll be able to look into it before it's released. That's what this bit is referring to:

SMAPI/CP beta are working great for us btw. Not sure if its related to the progressive performance improvements, but we didn't have a single disconnect in a hours long MP session.
Feels like it has gotten progressively better over the last month or so.

3.14.5 is when it started
Seems it still happens when you reinstall SMAPI 3.14.4, so it's not due to the SMAPI update itself. Did anything else change in that time?
Only that I downloaded a few mods to try out. When I went to launch the game with the new mods, I got the message about the 3.14.5 update. So I closed it out, downloaded and install the update, and went to launch the game again. And that's when the issue started
No never that, client would just ocassionally randomly disconnect with no error message on the host.
I am on pretty good ethernet + broadband, they are on great fiber
What if you switch back to Content Patcher 1.26.3?
There was something weird about one of the mods. It was brand new and when I tried to launch the game, SMAPI said it could be updated and provided a link. But the mod didn't have an update and the link that SMAPI provided was a link to a completely different mod that I had never even downloaded
The update alerts are based on the update keys in the mod's manifest.json file, so the author probably put the wrong update keys in it.

What if I:
- saved my save files and mods in a separate folder
- uninstalled SMAPI and the game
- deleted the entire Stardew Valley game folder from my computer
- reinstalled the game and SMAPI
- put the mod and save files back?

Hmm. It's not the SMAPI or Content Patcher updates since it still happens when you switch back to the old versions, and it's not one of the other mods since it happens without them. So I'm not sure what else it could be, if nothing else changed recently (e.g. installed new security software or something).

When I retested after starting from scratch, I tested it with a different content pack and it launched with that one content pack. So I thought that the previous content pack that I had been testing with (Elegant Craftables) was the problem. But I’ve removed it and the problem is still happening. So I’m removing each mod to see if I can see which one is causing the problem

hi so I have quite a few mods in my game and I'm trying to combine rings rn, but my iridium band for some reason just says "band of iridium" for the craftable one and doesn't allow me to combine it with another ring, and then I double checked in cjb item spawner and it just seems to be the same description? is this a mod bug and if so, does anyone know what mod?

it's a mod I downloaded called immersive rings, which completely overhauls rings and changes how iridium bands work

does anyone using the Life Cycle mod for Marnie and Lewis know if there are repercussions for seeing both versions of the 'keep it a secret' event? I saw the mod's version first, and told Lewis to tell everyone that they were dating, but then the vanilla version ended up playing later anyway. I just skipped that cut scene without making a choice but I'm worried it will mess up the mod somehow lol. Not sure why it played the vanilla version either, I don't have any conflicting mods...

if i want to mark a modded event as seen, how do i go about it? for some reason according to the game i don't meet the heart conditions for an event (at least 4 hearts) despite already being at 8 hearts with the guy

the only other conditions is that i don't see seb's 10-heart event and that he must be there. the condition that confuses me is the heart level because i'm already at 8 hearts with him and the event only needs 4

Sounds like it was installed incorrectly; if removing the numbers doesn't fix it, try a fresh redownload and installing it manually by dragging it from the zip into your mods folder

But that mod isn't a smapi mod and can't be used
So it's not your issue
it was a mod that changes crit change on weapons to make desperado/scout viable but it doesnt work and ive since uninstalled it

i changed it ingame and manually
and i removed allmy other farmer modifying mods like hairstyles and stuff
the modded clothes appeared on the NPCS but not the farmer
nailed it, disabled faithful weapons and we're away
Slightly Cuter Aesthetic doesn't give the farmer new seasonal clothing, it just edits the existing clothing to change slightly with the seasons, like changing the sleeve lengths as it mentions in the description
Also please provide your log, as medisun mentioned. It might be you have a mod that's changing the farmer base without realising

so i messed up and when i restarted my game and spawned in everything back to where it was in terms of progress

seems that this has accidentally caused willy to never send the mail needed for Spring 2, which means I can't enter his shop at all

I fixed it by downloading Romanceable Rasmodius and then marrying another person with the Free Love mod. Only when I gave a mermaid pendant to someone else did his status change to single. Very weird problem and I have no idea what caused it.

An XNB mod replaces some of your game's .xnb files to change the game (unlike newer mods that go in your Mods folder). This is an older type of mod that's no longer recommended, and can cause a number of issues. It only changes how the length of the clothes look. Ie shorter boots, longer sleeves. It doesn't change the clothes itself.

Hiii! Quick question, I am using Vibrant Pastoral Recolour + Elle's Seasonal Buildings, but somehow Pastoral Recolour have a priority over Elle's on Ginger Island (everything else works just fine), and Elle's Island Hut does not load (it is turned on in the config)
I tested it and it does work without the recolour on, but is there a way to use both at the same time with Elle's having priority over the Pastoral Recolour?

I see a subfolder for the installer, and it shouldn't clobber anything even if you unzip it directly into the folder since the .NET files are tucked into internal/windows.

I do it with stardrop by unchecking pytk and seeing what else it unchecks. You can also just remove it manually and read the smapi log
Save Anywhere is not broken, but it's not terribly compatible with other mods and can cause some really weird errors. It also makes it more likely to have weird save issues, so I always recommend Advanced Save Backup to anyone who is really feeling like they absolutely can't live without Save Anywhere.

You could, but the issue is something between your computer and the audio mods/SMAPI

No, there are no binaries. And also it's bugged and last time I know the 1.2 stopped working on android since a patch update of android sdv or smapi, so it caused crash.
(it was something with dll load and invalid reference method or whatever)

You could try streaming SDV, either from a PC or a service like shadow.
You could change a setting for the game in windows, so that windows do not scale that specific game, but still everything else (as normal) but i guess that's for another time.

Medieval Buildings seems to be missing files, so reinstalling it might fix those warnings. the red error is an incompatibility between Pokefy and Earthy Recolour (probably just means that you'll miss some visual changes to the night market)

hi guys. i'm an idiot. i've downloaded smapi, and all the mods required to use stardew valley expanded. however I cannot open my game at all and i'm so confused and sad. I need help either getting the game to open with mods, or learning how to safely get rid of smapi and everything so I can get my vanilla game back. I'd rather play normal stardew valley than not being able to play at all.

if you're on windows i don't think smapi touches the vanilla files, so as long as you're launching the vanilla game it should work as before (if you set the launch options on steam when installing smapi, then they would need to be cleared to launch the vanilla game)

if you didn't touch the steam launch options, it should yeah. just resetting the game files via steam should be enough
you can also uninstall smapi by rerunning the installer if you wish

Hello everyone!! I'm a total full on idiot person, and I just can't get any mods to work on my phone. I have stardew game installed, smapi installed, content patcher, json assets, etc but still the mods aren't showing up and aren't interacting properly on my phone. 😭Help me please ❤️
I seem to have caused an issue with my lost and found by having an invalid item in there due to having removed a weapons texture mod that was causing issues.
Just need some pointers as to how I can edit the save to remove all items from the lost and found box since just skimming through the files I can't quite work it out rn.

hey, I've been usng smapi for ages on my PC but I took my laptop on holiday and reinstalled it (and a few mods) but it doesnt seem to open the game when I click the smapi launch application it will get to "mods loaded and ready" and wont progress, regular sdv will load fine tho, not sure if I've done something wrong in the setup or maybe my laptop is just too old and shit to load smapi these days? pls help!!

Perfection tweaker seems to specifically not work for the crafting items and fish I think it was regardless of what I do. I am not sure why. I tried 1000, 129, and 0 in the number field but all of them leave me with 0% on the perfection tracker
