expanded can be used in an existing game?
It can, but is not recommended. Stardew Valley Expanded has a lot of custom events that replace/enhance the vanilla events.
Hello! I'm working with the Hearts and Gifts dialogue Display mod, and it was working just fine! I hadn't changed anything about my set up, but when I opened it up today, it wasn't displaying hearts or gift indicators.

I understand, but as someone with memory issues and ADHD problems that cause disorganisation and quite a large number of modding mishaps before, I find it easier to use a program like Vortex if only so that I don't fuck up my game irreparebly as I have in the past.
But since it depends on DDF, it doesn't do anything without DDF

Ok so I did everything that I could do from that page and it still won’t start up. I don’t get any error, just a flicker and then everything goes back to as if I never clicked the smapi exe. Could it be because I don’t have stardew installed on my C drive?

Not sure how well it's works in co-op, but the general consensus is to have everyone get the same mods

Yes, I can locate it but it is not the save that I had before I installed SMAPI
Is it possible that my save was overwritten? However I have done nothing to cause an overwriting, I simply installed SMAPI by following the wiki, additionally, I never slept or saved even at least once since SMAPI was installed

Hey guys i was hoping someone could help me out. I am new to modding stardew valley, going for a perfect run but i ran into an issue. i cant seem to get golden coconuts. i am not sure if its a mod overiding it or if its bugged period. i cant exchange them out at the island trader (i don't know if that is what the stand is called or not) and i haven't found one via mining, artifact hoeing, shaking trees or fishing. does anyone know anything about this or can assist me in figuring out what mod might be doing this?

Currently at the moment im trying to get it to work with Farmers children. The problem I am having is that
a)When the day starts they are sleeping in bed but they never leave the bed.
b)If I remove the bed to free them they do not follow the farmers children schedule and just wonder around the house
Also one last note I am using Unique children

I think you need to set the children to roam.
Mine get out at 7am every morning and run around the house until the first time in their schedule activates.

You could get doing Patch export Characters/schedules/(whatever the kids name is) into smapi and see if anything exports.

132 = number of 10-minute intervals in 1 Stardew day

When adding big expansions on an already existing save, you might get problems with the schedules/pathing of NPCs, so it is always recommended to start with big expansions, instead of adding them later.

To be very honest I have no experience with Child to NPC or Farmers Children. I do know Child to NPC has been very buggy (I'm not sure if that's been solved yet..)
i'm having trouble getting smap to install the smap version of stardew valley.
smapi says I have to download a compact package but I'm not sure if this is because of the smap or stardew valley version, I wanted to know if you could help me, to know if I should look for another version of one of the apps (or both) or if it's just download the package.

Do you mean the fourth number? Newer updates on console use a four-part format, where the first three numbers are the PC game version that was ported and the fourth is the console-specific update number. So "1.5.4.2" means "ported from PC version 1.5.4, console update #3".

If you mean why Android doesn't have the latest version yet, they're working on the port. It seems to be a bit complicated (maybe due to performance optimizations needed on Android), and I think they recently changed to a new porting team so they had to start over.

I suspect there's an issue with your game files, but I have a custom tool that can check. It'll just take a bit to update it for the latest version, hold on a bit.

Do you mean to enforce mod dependency order? Nope, since that's built-in to SMAPI automatically based on the mod manifests.

The Spacious Greenhouse mod seems to be missing a file. Try deleting and reinstalling that mod, and if it still happens you can report it on its mod page.

I can't say, but Vortex isn't recommended for mods. It can eat files and cause problems. Manual is best.

Hi im having some issues, the mod library of vortex says in the logs that i do not have smapi isnt installed but is indeed installed and updated i have some logs if anyone would like to see them to further try to help me
So I'm getting stutters every few seconds, fps drops from 60 to 56/57 and it creates a noticeable lag.
Just to be sure it's not just my PC that has the issue I did the exact same setup on my old one and the exact same thing happens.
I looked everywhere, disabled v-sync, tried fullscreen, windowed, borderless, installed net 5.0 as recommended by a few threads, did the cpu affinity, priority set to high.
Nothing seems to help. All of this happens with and without mods which means Smapi is the culprit here. None of this happens in vanilla.
Don’t use Vortex, simple as that.
If you need help with Vortex, you'll have to ask Nexus

Vortex works fine for many people, and then they come here with some terrible issue that we can't fix because we don't use Vortex and Vortex isn't easy to debug, and then I feel bad because I can't help and have to redirect people to Nexus for help with Vortex.
The real problem with Vortex it's not easy to debug
That said: the Nexus discord is actually pretty responsive - I would go there if you have any issues with Vortex
anyone here have experience with the farmers children/childtonpc mods?
I forgot to add that this wasn't an issue in 1.5.4 and I was playing with over 100 mods then, all of this started in 1.5.5. I've done everything from .q 5891, even did a full format just to see if it was a background program issue, still the same. Even tried it on my old pc to see if it'd happen there aswell and yup it does. My pc is waaay overboard for SDV with a 3080 and i7 8086k. And as I've said before I'm using no mods to test this so that's out of the picture.
(It's kind of a known issue, has to do with the transition to NET 5)

They are lootable, but don't work/connect with pathways like they do it pelican town

I think it may be the case that if you have Bus Locations, and don't have that mod, you can't go to the desert with the bus

is anyone aware of a bug with custom gift dailogue where it will pretend you have gifted someone already when its their birthday and the mod doesnt have specific info for it? I use the Jean and Jorts mod and i tried to gift on birthday and it wouldent let me. It stopped and froze my character then gave the dialogue that i had already gifted that day and the item is not consumed. I dont have a log right now because this was a past issue that presently still happens and im curious about if anyone else had this happen.

i also cant report a bug even if i had a log for that mod because their form is down that they use to get bug reports. kinda weird
I don't think I've encountered that. But the way CGD work is that it overlays the actual gift dialogue so you see a custom one instead. So, I'm not still sure if that's the problem with CGD

If you had previously removed Error Handler, either on purpose or by accident, you would get crashes when removing NPCs (or if you're thinking of a time before this feature existed)

The IDs of your items are likely to get mixed up (shuffled, if you will) and where once you had a blood orange you might now have a lucky clover or a sword or wh...
You can either delete or sell those items. Harmless 
It sometimes happens when you add a new mod that adds new items, it "shuffles" some items around, resulting in weird names or combinations

It's no longer in an all-in-one because the size of it was getting to the point where it was causing issues with uploading (which is part of why there were so few updates in late 2021) and it was a pain for me to manage. The split files are a bit more inconvenient for users who want to use the entire mod, but they're more convenient for updating (since aside from when we get new translations, it means I don't have to update the entire mod at once), compatibility, and things like being able to have the lightweight & ultralight versions included in the main mod instead of needing to be separate
However, you can use the ModDrop mod loader to download and install them all at the same time with the DSV modpack 😄

SVE = stutter + lag + increased load times + a dozen of content + some unnecessary edits to vanilla which causes unnecessary incompatibilities iirc + a small bunch of non used code
Oh, and a whole Community of "SVE compat or scram! SVE is best, other mods suck even if I don't know whats up with the other mods!" idiots - which causes overwhelm for some modders
I am not saying all users are, but its just a general thing of the SVE community

Don't know about the rest of your errors, but Dark wood flowery fences, Yellogs wood fences, and SVE are all trying to edit the fences so you should probably pick one and/or disable the others

Ok so, I have been trying to mod the vanilla textures and sve for over a week now and although I managed to finish changing all the files how I wanted, (minor changes, just changing which tile from the tilesheet was used) and I cannot get the game to run past flower dance. I keep getting Divide by 0 errors, and the error message is so dense that I cannot parse any bit of it. has anyone had similar issues when doing texture pack modding, or any insight into why i might be fucking myself up?

check your file path for them. Maps can be a bit twitchy about formatting, it might be looking in the wrong spot and not seeing the tilesheet
(when it comes to maps, Tiled is better at finding stuff than Stardew)

Is editing the tilesheets themselves going to be easier than trying to edit every single map? I thought of that first but couldn't seem to get it to work and finding all the right tilesheets seems harder
are you trying to get a particular tile from the tilesheet to look different on every map? If so, a simple Content Patcher mod is way WAY easier than map editting

Honestly, since it's something you've done yourself I'd imagine it being a little tricky to troubleshoot since we don't know exactly what you did or how you did it. But like they said above, it'll be better and safer to do it with content patcher instead.

@tired brook Hello! I'm getting some really nasty lag spikes and someone told me it might be because of automate polling. The lag spikes are every second consistently and they bring my average FPS to about 28. Is there a good way to check if this is true, and if so, how can I resolve it? I'd prefer not to have to break my machines (all 21k)

okay, moving here: she (my sister) deleted sve before making a backup of her save or divorcing her sve specifc spouse/deleting the items associated. her game crashes every time she opens that specific save but no others. she redownloaded smapi, and then sve to try to fix it, but her save still crashes. she's incredibly upset because this was her biggest and most worked on save file (year 12, 99% completion). is there anything she/we can do?

If you check the Compatibility page of the DSV website (https://diversestardewvalley.weebly.com/compatibility.html) you'll see details of which parts of DSV aren't compatible with SVE - the majority of the mod works fine and the sections that don't can be disabled in DSV's config. There's no way to make the clashing sections work together though as our team refuses to support SVE in any way.

i'm not sure it's related, but that mod is known to cause issues
i assume you got FeTK for the Tool-Upgrade Delivery Service
nowadays, FeTK is replaced with Mail Framework Mod, while TUDS is replaced with Mail Services Mod

so just delete FeTK?

btw, don't think it needs to be said, but im not using a pirated version of windows or stardew, but I am using vortex

ah i see Casey is doing basically the same thing i was doing in the mod's code, and i also had similar errors when doing so, had to try catch
not sure why specifically is it happening on your setup, but it's definitely fixable on Moon Misadventures' side
but i doubt Casey is gonna release any updates before Stardew 1.6

Ive just been loading up stardew, shutting it down use the log thing and change all the reds
the page also says a mod is broken if it has some issues that don't necessarily throw errors, just... make the mod not work at all
you won't always get actual errors if the mod is broken

i mean, my cellar has huge rooms on the first level, then you can go down through a trapdoor and there's another huge level, then you go in another door and there's a lake, space for crops, a mine and so on

another thing... i host a game and when the farmhand equips different clothes/hats it doesn't switch, it still shows the default they chose when creating the character, is this a known issue?

no
Not like take them back but like delete them. Because every time cookie clicker suite updates, I find that Berrylium, Blueberrylium, and Hazelrald in the museum changes to a different item, that usually isn't a museum item, so whenever I accidentally click on it, it softlocks my game
yikes that sounds like save edit time... The dangers of adding JA items to your museum display I guess.
I assume that means editing <museumPieces>. Is there a place where I can find how the vectors correlate to the items on display? If not I'll just delete stuff and see what gets removed
