I have a question about Alternative Textures. I downloaded some furniture recolor packs and whenever I try to use them it says the items have no recolors that are in season. I looked at the files and i'm confused as to how some of them have certain seasons where you can recolor them. Does this mean the packs aren't working?
No, tsome AT textures only work in certain seasons. I have snowman scarecrows for instance that only work in winter

It's weird because it's couch retextures and stuff so idk why it would do that.

is there either A) a mod that lets me rename my farm animals, or B) a save editor that wont brick my modded save 🤔
There's a few actually. One is Idaida's Furniture Recolor, another is Furnicolor, and the other one is Furniture Recolors.
This is for the blue couch and looking through the files I see nothing that mentions a season.

there's no trace of SVE in your log - can you try installing that mod again? Follow Flash's guide, linked above

remove them from the folder. some mods offer a "enable mod" option in their config. stardrop works too

I downloaded Stardew expanded and I've played till about spring 16th and still haven't gotten the cut scene for the community center. I've tried going into the town at different times and places to try and trigger it but nothing seems to work and I really don't know any other options to try

so, I've got a recipe for a Glow Ring that requires a Small Glow Ring and 5 Solar Essence. I'm not sure which mod it comes from (probably Combine Many Rings) but even though I have a small glow ring in my inventory, it's grayed out like I don't.

don't remove the mod ErrorHandler, it's bundled with SMAPI and handles issues like that

will this remove all my mods (resetting)?
I just got steam on my Chromebook (running a linux container and linux apps), most mods are working fine but got not UI info suite. Got the below warning, even though I just redownloaded the mod. Has anyone had similar issues?

tbh you shouldnt even run into those anymore. if it doesnt have a manifest and json file or .dll, then it might be one that overrides but... yeah you very rarely if ever find these, in my experience (thats why i was surprised that you had one in the first place)
if it said (cp) in the title then is a content patch mod, that one just replaces files in ram, ie in the running process

so it doesnt overwrite your physical stardew files and removing that mod is as easy as deleting the subfolder for it in /mods

@cunning vine you can use console command world_clear current debris to get rid of them, as well as the no clip mod to chop down the trees :)

@iron sky An XNB mod replaces some of your game's .xnb files to change the game (unlike newer mods that go in your Mods folder). This is an older type of mod that's no longer recommended, and can cause a number of issues. Unzip the .zip/.rar/etc file
Then move them to the mods folder. There should be one in your sdv folder

If you want to play with mods, you can try reverting back to Stardew 1.5.4 but that's not exactly an easy process

Not sure where else to ask this, sorry if this is the wrong place. I've played the crap out of it, but never MP. Mods in multiplayer function as normal as if it were single player (if they are multiplayer compatible) right? Does every player have to have the mod or just the host?

What does this actually mean? Like if one player has a mod installed, it works for everyone?
mods act locally (on the local version of the game)
some game mechanics are handled by the host only, so some mods work fine if only the host has them
some game mechanics are local only, so each person can have their own set of (these are primarily visiual) mods
and some mechanics will crash and burn if playrs have mismatched mods.
(new locations and new npcs are major here)

Not really a question on how to use it, but what was that one mod that paired up all the marriable people in SV? You were able to configure some of the couples and I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called

You dont need a mod to add more than 4 players. CA himself posted instructions on how to allow more players
@ArcaneDescent @JessYoMama You can do it without a mod. Go to %appdata%/StardewValley and open the file called startup_preferences. ctrl + f for "playerLimit" and you'll find something like this: <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit>.
Change the -1 to any number you like...

I'm trying to get my friend and I's SVE mods going. We have both been able to get this to run before, and have updated everything through Vortex. Mine is currently working, his is not. This is the scary red text he is receiving.

hello, im trying to run a couple mods on SMAPI and idk what is going on. When i launch from the smapi modding application it runs through the typical black screen that loads the mods and stuff, but then i brings up a white screen and seems to get stuck there as not responding.

another possibility is your antivirus boxing SMAPI, so you could try whitelisting SMAPI with your antivirus
running the game as vanilla runs fine
my friend says i dont have an antivirus and that i guess im using windows default and it wouldn't be blocking it?

well from that i could'nt extract anything that makes sense to me, i'm about as bright as a broken lightbulb around everything that isn't a firearm or digging a hole

the unzip problem is very weird, and may take some debugging, and might be connected to teh smapi problem
the long story short: all these programs rely on other programs to run
the side by side config error happens with every mod i try to unzip for any game, like 7 days or starbound or even skyrim
if one of the programs that runs things in the background becomes unhappy, you get odd things
yeah, and microsoft forums is recommending a disk check
and perhaps reinstalling a bunch of different things
to be fair my PC is basically slapped together and i have no clue how to do that
meanwhile, you likely have an issue with NET 5.0 preventing SMAPI from installing

so, after much uninstalling and deleting files, it seems like it was the bigger backpack or stadew valley hack mod that was the problem

you can verify local files on steam, or uninstall and reinstall the game. but those won't remove any user added files from the game folder, you'd need to delete the game folder

@gaunt gustok so i got my issue figured out, WINZip doesnt work, you have to use 7zip for side by side configuration, from there its a matter of getting anti virus crap to stop being persnickety, it took a while but i got it figured out more or less, no i just have to figure to actually do modding from there, like how to add all the mods to the game and such
now that i've got SMAPI working can anybody help me apply mods to the game, am i supposed to just set up a mods folder in the game file or does each mod need its own folder within like how do i do

well thats fairly straightforward in the short answer, the file didn't load or esxtract when you downloaded and extracted it, as to the why and where of it i couldn't say, it could either a download error or and extract error, most likely the mod has an issue that may need to be brought up with the author to see if it's on that end
can you link the version of SVE you're using? i can check if the problem is with the event patch

it means that content patcher (a framework mod to load content packs) has encountered an error with stardew valley expanded, which has specified a path to a portrait for the wizard (you can see the path) where its expecting an image.
and there is not an image there

So someone gave me there IMF2 file and it fixed my issue from earlier that I posted. I played a bit and went to bed. Tried to play again and the farm is all messed up and not the IMF2.

I did test, if you have one selected, it works, if you have none, it works. Both don't work
Iirc Grandpa's Farm had a similar problem with specific Configs not working and making the farm look weird. I think that has been fixed though.
Guess not many people play with Sandbox and Light Debris as true configs

If it's the first, you may just need to wait it out. Having expansion mods can increase load times. If it's the second, I would see if I could run the vanilla game first and go from there.

I think the greenhouse is like this actually from having a greenhouse mod with IMF2 since it has greenhouse options. I disabled them though, so it should effect it but since its using the standard farm option, it might put it where it goes for the standard farm. I don't know.

the greenhouse is in that spot because i assume you changed farm maps mid save, you can move the greenhouse when its repaired. the greenhouse mod you had should only affect the interior

Well I was having trouble early with the farm not loading because two options in the config would make it show a buggy version of the regular farm instead of IMF2
Now this and the only options for the greenhouse are to disable it or remove objects and I have neither picked. Disabling it still has that greenhouse there.

Ok I'm at a loss because I can't figure this out. I've checked everything mod that does anything to the farm and even all together and when loading a new game, the greenhouse isn't there. When I load all my mods, its there.

has anyone tried the SailorStyles mod and Customize Anywhere mod together? Whenever I open the CA Mod, the number of hairstyles go up to 4,000 and most of it are just empty (like i'm bald). Idk how to fix it

you probably have some hairstyles not set up correctly
the IDs of the hairstyles will have big numbers since that is the ID you've given them

modded stardew starts trough the StardewModdingAPI.exe, not stardew valley.exe

you do not need to have the smapi installer in your mods directory (smapi should give you a warning about that aswell)

Hey got a weird little bug where when I edit RSV (ridgeside mod) CUSTOM MUSIC FILES* for different areas through GMCM it broke all of my mod files and force changed my phone's background. I would probably be able to replicate the bug if anyone is interested. if this has happened to anyone lmk what you did to fix or try to explain what even happened 🥺
Am on Android with no errors w any mods finally just editing the GMCM config for RSV kinda made me need to start over 4 days of work

I suspect something funny is going on with Hardew Valley's editing the bundles
I wasn't able to recreate the bug that crashed my game and changed my wallpaper probably an Android issue. Basically I am having trouble with Ridgeside Village, GMCM and Custom Music. It doesn't show when I parse my log, I am hearing every audio file when I switch between Ridgeside mod audio files, some of them don't play sound. For example if I change any of the music files and I scroll over Crimson badlands my title screen will become that soundtrack until I reload the game.
Basically a bunch of spam that I don't actually hear sounds from and it isn't logged that it is playing any other soundtrack.
As I'm in GMCM selecting files it is playing "Ominous Cavern"
I delete Hardew Valley but got the same Error :(

I don't know if anyone's said anything about this but I've been experiencing horrible load lag with PyTK 1.23, same as the unofficial version that was made before it, and sometimes the game fails to save at night so I lose all the days' worth of progress. The game also crashes instead of closing properly.
I previously dialed back to 1.22.8 and the game worked fine other than SMAPI telling me to update PyTK, but today it won't even load in the old version and as result other mods such as TMXL can't load without it.

Okay, so it does seem like nothing in CP is editing Kent's sprite based on the patch summary. Have you tried a reset?
You can also try a patch export
It's a gog install so theres no real way of resetting the game files
how did you install those mods? / where did you download them from?
just type patch export Characters/Kent to get the png exported into a folder named patch export in your game folder

well you didnt post the log (you were asked to post the full log by lemurcat)
but even then, the one thing you can do is remove mods (move them to a seperate folder for the time being) and check which mod is the one that makes the olivia event have issues.
that event really shouldnt have any problems on its own. i have latest sve aswell, i can change hearts and start the event and see if i get the same error, but i suspect its some conflicting mod. (maybe noone actually improved olivias relation / started the event since the last update lol)

yeah i dont know where the game is pulling those 2 extra characters from.
And I can't seem to get any of the commands on the wiki to work in the console

I actually tried it, but my game is full of lag now. I can't play, it looks nice though but if I can't play it is not worth it. I should get a stronger PC I think

I would make a bug report, probably a small coding error
Follow that, and if it still fails then post a new log, but I'm pretty sure it'll work once you get these updated

It just looks like you need to take ownership of the Mods folder, but not sure if the Xbox app stuff is supposed to help with that

I know Windows Store stuff (which includes GamePass) installs things differently for security so it might be isolated somehow

just one thing though: I play on an Xbox controller, and whenever I move an item with the A button, the cursors jumps to where the item is now instead of staying where it was

I seem to also be able to work around it by using the X button to move one at a time
