Hey so Iโm using Vortex to update Stardew Valley Expanded and I saw that in vortex it says to delete the SVE files, before I touch anything can someone explain what Iโm supposed to do exactly?

if you stay away from XNB mods, your game won't be ruined
Having slight issues- I'm really tired right now so there's no mistake I messed some things up. Just curious on the Yellow/orange warnings below (what mods I'm missing or didn't correctly install) and also needing to know if I'm just dumb and misunderstood how to install pookachus Seasonal Greenhouse with Immersive farm 2 from SVE (How I did it: Renamed the Spring.tbin to Greenhouse.tbin > put into maps (in the immersive farm 2 folder) > then put the otherstuff into the Tile section thing). I'm also curious on the Crashes and Lagging I been having.

there's a certain small risk of save corruption, but I don't think this risk is actually increased by modding the game
and one of the basic smapi mods saves backups more often
some mods have bugs in them, but if you find one that has bugs you can generally just stop using it
many of the mods that have bugs are pretty old or not maintained anymore or both

if you install a lot of mods, sometimes the game might take longer to load or stutter more, but usually that takes a lot of mods, and again, is reversible by uninstalling them
you can get Advanced Save Backup if you're worried to get even more backups
sometimes you can lose a day of gameplay, but that's usually as bad as it'll get

Hello me and my bf are playing multiplayer and using the Better Workbenches mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4830) and I was wondering if it's possible this mod could be messing with my boyfriends workbench somehow. In my game I can see the amount I'm able to craft for any item (It shows 80 stone paths when I have 80 stone) And in his game the number does not show up.
I'm curious if this sounds like a mod or just a regular tech issue
did you pick "advanced crafting" on the options menu (a vanilla thing) and/or is there a config?
the options menu has a thing you can enable where you can see how many you made of something before

I've used smapi for a long time, took a long break and am currently trying to get mods/smapi updated again, but when I go to download the latest smapi, norton is calling it unsafe and keeps uninstalling it? i'm mostly checking to make sure i'm on the right site to download smapi before i tell norton to knock it off

without this sounding rude in anyway- does anyone have any idea why theres been so many SDVE updates? i feel like ive been updating it every day for the last week. My internet is painfully slow too, so it takes 20 min to download it each time
because SVE recently released 1.6. its a fairly big update so mistakes are found regularely which need to be fixed.
I believe it just had a major release and there have been hotfixes to patch any bugs that flashshifter may have missed

SVE also changed it's requirements to not use pytk or custom music so that's a big structure overhaul in which Flash has probably had to work out some issues.
You probably don't need to update everytime. Just pay attention to where ever the release notes are and see if the updates are worth the wait.
most of them fix bugs, iirc there was only one that only fixed lategame events, so you couldve skipped that one, but that was about it.
(assuming you arent at that point yet)

There is a config file you could check. If there is a line with "EnableMod": true then the mod will work
But are you using SDV 1.5.5 or greater? that mod is only up to 1.5.4, it might not work if you are on the current SDV version

Like, that mod is for Stardew Valley 1.5.4 (the game version). If you are using the current version (1.5.6) im pretty sure the mod wont work. You can check the game version when loading the game with smapi

I have all 8 rarecrows placed together, I know for a fact i do, and I have this mod installed and running with no visible errors in my terminal, but I'm still getting crows on my farm?

I've lost 3 already and I laid my farm out for spring y2 based on the assumption that I wouldn't have to place scarecrows, meaning I now have nowhere to actually put them to protect my crops. What do I do here??
As you can see, all those crops on the right are right up against the edge of my farm
I also just realized that this top piece of kale that I lost last night is in the range of my rarecrows anyway, why am I losing crops? I have no weeds and there haven't been any thunderstorms :,D This is so confusing

Move all your buildings as close as possible to your house. Get Reset Terrain Features from the smapi compatibility mod list and remove everything with it.
SVE only changes the farm map if you have grandpa's farm or Immersive Farm Remastered installed

i use that one in the ppja setting with much harder to get crops (seed shortage and better mixed seeds) and "more gem" which adds tons of gems

PyTK should be working right with Txml
because the current SVE version uses map layers, but the one you ahve to use for mobile uses pyTK

you will only unlock achievements if you start StardewModdingAPI trough steam via the stardewcommand line

Update on the situation
SVE or Challenging Community Center was crashing my stardew valley whenever I made a new farm
Had to remove that challenging bundles mod soooo

if you use antivirus software open the app and find the settings, you can usually turn off real time protection. idk if windows defender gives it issues but yo ucan t ry to disable that in your control panel too

yeah SVE isnt properly installed. the things that tell you what is wrong should be further up at the start of the log tho
Did you overwrite the old SVE? Just delete the current version of SVE and redownload it along with its new requirements
New SVE doesn't use TMX and Custom Music anymore

Hi! I run both SVE and some PPJA mods, and ever since the big SVE update a week or two (?) ago, there's some item icon & label issues with PPJA artisan goods and such- is there any easy fix for that?
So it shows you something else that it says? Sounds like a Json Shuffle
Yeah, like, I don't remember exactly, but something like "Smoked Ocean Fish Wine" or something silly like that. And at one point, the Shaded Violet icon was overlaying a cinnamon icon and I think it had the cinnamon item description as well or something of the sort- that was gone again after the newest SVE update, though. So yes, I think that would be a Json error of some sort, some kind of conflict with item IDs, I imagine? (I know hardly anything about coding, though...)
That's a Json Shuffle. Just sell all the affected items and you should be fine
I've gotten to no errors. If anyone needs to know in the future, the proper TMXL version is on mod drop and as far as I could see was the only file that did not have a stated version. 1.23 is too recent, 1.22 is too old for the mobile SMAPI

Glad to hear it's just going to sort itself out, it does break the game immersion a bit, : ) Hm, I had the same issue when I installed Love Of Cooking, does that mean the shuffle only happens on install and then sorts itself out once you're through those items? It doesn't affect every, like, shaded violet you harvest forever and tells you it's a radioactive bass or something?
json shuffles usually happen when you remove json items from a running save games
since they are saved in your file
(not talking about the game running, but the savefile already existing with the mods, removing them and then loading it again)
do we still need pytk for sve multiplayer
pyTK is not a dependancy for SVE 1.6+

Question. I hope this is the right channel, but I have Elle's New Coop animals, Barn animals, and horses. Does it just add more variations that I can possibly get when I buy an animal or whatnot? Or do I have to select certain skins for the animals? (If this kinda question belongs in another channel, please do inform me)
those are skin replacements, no?
I have those to use with the Adopt 'n Skin mod, which has an assets folder I stuck them into for the respective animals, and now when I buy one, it'll randomly select one of the available skins. Or I can also change the skins on purpose through SMAPI commands.
should just work like that. you'll get the ones in the pack instead of vanilla. they dont add more animals.
if you want to have more options, you could install adopt and skin move the files into assets, rename them maybe and select the skin for each animal manually

Also, you can get more horses and cats and dogs with adopt n skin, which is fun! Though there's some bugs with the horses (they all get the name of your original horse in the cases when the game automatically puts them in the stable over night, and also, sometimes adopted horses just vanish at some point... But it's still fun!)
There is already an A&S version of each of Elle's Animals mods.
The downloads has a CP version and A&S.
Then there is also the AT versions on a separate mod page.
