Does anyone know if I need to download PPJA's content pack collection to install artisan valley?
It is most likely another mod editing the bus stop warps. Most common culprit is farm maps. It is also possible a map patch may overwrite the warps too. Seeing the log helps is identify potential issues.
All the PPJA mods that are not the DGA versions are compatible
You don't need the entire content pack collection to install Artisan Valley and in fact the content pack collection includes Artisan Valley, it's just a modpack of most of the other PPJA mods

Hey folks-- getting back into modded Stardew and setting up my mods. Trying to add fish from More New Fish to the config for Better Crab Pots, and it's been a while since I've done this. Do I need to look through MNF's content.json file for the item IDs or is there an easier way to do this?
Not sure how Better Crab Pots works but MNF uses JA so there won't be numeric IDs
(Or at least, the numeric IDs change by save)

how to exlude certain characters in the seasonal cute characters mod?
I seem to recall there being a mod that let you have both mushrooms and bats in your farm cave, but I can't actually find it or figure out what keywords to use. I found mods that let you switch but none to have both at once?

For people who have the same question: turns out that Farm Cave Spawns More Tree Fruit also has an option to spawn fruit no matter what the cave type is, so if enabled it can effectively give you both cave types

It was specifically made with a very large number of mods in mind. My current pack is ~700 or so mods, many of which add crops and trees.

Oh yeah, mine is based off of a variant of one of Pookachu's maps. Specifically it's the "Really Big Greenhouse for Raffadax" variant of "Pookachus Seasonal Greenhouse".
I wanted the seasonality but i also wanted an extremely massive map with support for tons of trees, because no greenhouse mod supported the number of trees in my setup, so i got his permission and made a much larger version of it that supports 400+ trees and a ton of space for other crops broken up into various planters.

Mods are to change a game, and they must have a path through which to do this
It is not just waving a magic wand
unfortunately its not possible to get it so look like that without smapi

It provides vital information as to what smapi is doing and doesn't really affect anything negatively.
but seriously i wish some of my other games had the modloader console thing showing a list of mods, where mods are installed to, modloader and game version, any warnings or errors and other information as to what it's doing, and catching, displaying, and recovering from errors

instead of having no indication of stuff going wrong until it's crashing the game, or freezing it, or causing major visible errors, and then having to go digging in a raw .txt file for the errors
and being unable to tell "it got an error and locked up" from "it's taking a long time to load all these mods" so you just have to wait a double-digit number of minutes to see if it loads or not instead of seeing the error get spit out in the console in the first 5 seconds
what does the farm expansion look like?
Anything that loads mods is going to increase the loading time... Because you have to load the mod loader... and the mods...
that's got nothing to do with having a console window as such and 100% to do with having mods at all
It's got nothing to do with the command prompt, it's just hidden behind a loading screen in other things.

in my experience having not many mods does barely anything to the loading time, but my usual loadout of over 800 mods makes it take like 11 minutes to load
Highly depends on your system, but there is some additional load time to load the mod loader (smapi) in addition to the mod.
Most other games cant even handle 800 mods. ๐
(that's almost a gigabyte of mods, taking up more space than the actual game; several of them have complicated conditional patching)
terraria getting OOM after installing 2 mods
(in addition theres a whole mess of dependencies and whatever the heck nonsense PyTK is doing)
And many other games also aren't doing the amount of advanced game rewriting and expansion that stardew mods do.
so many game designers these days just...dont bother with basic compression

There are some mods that'd be fine for a first time player... quality of life mods, visual mods...
you mean 1.3.x Terraria, which was 32-bit, just like Stardew was until very recently; with large worlds by themselves taking a gig or so
(it consists of basically 1 single line of code, listing a .gen file, a .c16, and a "put this in the egglayer" instruction)

i've been having fun with mostly QoL mods + the Clicker Class on 1.4 alpha

but yeah i had like a couple hundred surviving mars mods and my loadtimes for that werent much smaller than my 817-mod stardew load times and none of my surviving mars mods were adding massive expansions or new gameplay mechanics like stardew's Ridgeside Village or Fishing Trawler

didnt minecraft (aside from being written in java) have that issue for a while where looking down made the game lag because it rendered all the caves even though the ground was in the way?

also i remember 1.7.10 having a bug where if you went too far up when there was water around the framerate plunged because it would start spawning and despawning insane numbers of squid
i think it had something to do with squid spawning only checking horizontal distance from the player, but despawning checking vertical distance too, so if you were really high up theyd spawn and then 1 tick later despawn?

You said the start screen, that allows changing the start screen.

so I would appear to have made an oopsie
(it's just the same error repeating for a while, actually had to delete more than half of the repeats because the log was too long lol)
game error idk what to do to deal with. last time I tried to fix it by regenerating my content folder and replacing the broken file (ObjectInformation.xnb) with the new one, it completely broke vortex management abilities and I had to completely uninstall and reinstall all the mods for vortex to work correctly again (it kept saying every single one of my mods was redundant, like I had 600+ redundant mods, even when my mods folder was completely empty)
still could run SMAPI just fine, but I wanted the convenience of vortex so I eventually just went back n reinstalled everything like I said
anyways if anyone has some advice on how to deal with that game error without breaking everything I would appreciate it SDJHD I'm going to bed for now feel free to @ me if you reply!
well, as it says Your Content\Data\ObjectInformation.xnb file seems to be broken or outdated., which would easily result in the null reference error. so reinstall the game or verify the game files (and don't use outdated mods)

There's a common bug once we look at the bugs section of the page, it just isn't working 100% for female chars anymore and seem to appear as a red unchangeable sleeve.
Is it something in content.json that isn't up to date?
It only recently broke I guess when the 1.5.5 came out, and I'm just gonna guess that the inside of it just doesn't load well with the new updates of the essentials like Cp or Smapi.
Love to know if anyone has an idea of what's going on, or better yet how to fix it โค๏ธ

I am using an alternative fix for this, which is download another sleeve mod that is working and just replacing the assets there, but in that way my other mods such as "Elf Ears" mod can't load unlike this mod that worked together.
Like I said last time I replaced that file it completely broke vortex, is there a way to reset that file without messing with vortex's mod management abilities?

I haven't manually replaced any xnb files in the game folder. Idk if any of the mods have functionality to do that though

outside of JA and DGA only these mods seem to be editing Data/ObjectInformation: Gift Wrapper, SubterranianOverhaul

Also I think I tried that mod like a week ago and the sweaters didn't show up in character creation but then replaced outfits in game? I could be thinking of a different or outdated mod though since I uninstalled anything that was outdated or unnecessary for me
those shouldn't break the actual xnb file in the game's content folder, but i'm not sure if smapi checks the actual file
Can't check atm, but they should be as up to date as they can be, uncertain if they've been updated specifically for the most recent version, though. I'm not set on keeping those mods so I could remove them if they're causing problems
(although going by the warning message it seems like it would, so i'd still verify the game files first to make sure the file is okay. if it breaks the mod manager it doesn't matter too much because you can't play the game without the correct file anyway)

Farmer base was of no issue before 1.5.5, I do have a custom farmer but I tinkered with it a bit so it used to work all perfectly fine before

Heya! Is it, like, safe to use mods that just change visuals seasonally? I'm not sure if using the SMAPI will effect my save or achievements or anything, but I really like the look of these seasonal texture changes

visual mods cannot break your game, save or affect your achievements (as long as you set the launch options in steam)
also make sure whatever visual mods you get have been updated at least a year ago + arent XNB mods

As soon as you can, please start making mod folders, especially for when you have different saves for different expansions! (since expansions means lots of framework pieces!) My startup loading time used to take so long when I had ALL mods on ALL my saves, but now that I started separating them, it now only takes a few minutes.
i am so upset i just realized i dont have to close the game to manage my mods
i was so used to the sims telling me "this cannot be changed because the game is open" i forgot that some games dont do that

These are all transpilier issues
Which means (A) either the mod expects a version of the game it's not getting
Or (b) changes for the mobile version broke the transpiliers

While moving my main save file to avoid deleting it, i remembered i kept the original smapi mod file as to avoid this kind of problem

I had the steam overlay disabled so it didn't register then
Activated the overlay, and I just got the 40 museum item achievement.
But the rest still didn't update.
Not that I know of, but you could maybe restore a previous save and then work on the achievement again while making sure steam is working.

For me, ModDrop takes about 1 minute to start a download after the download button is clicked
Well Nexus has had some issues with their policies lately angering creators so I understand. ModDrop actually has the same policy but creators can at least opt out of what creates the ownership problem: mod packs or collections.
I don't know if Nexus is going to do the same.

I have no specific preference for Nexus other than familiarity, but I think the main thing that made it take off was being a centralized location for mods. There have always been mods that weren't on there though, so it is what it is. Having to go to 2 places and use 2 managers doesn't sound ideal (not trying to complain, just giving my perspective)

There's the problem of modpacks containing older versions of a mod... the mod author didn't create the modpack but people will go to them asking for support of something that's probably not even supported anymore..
I'll go to some git repos if it means giving creators more control over their assets or coding. But it's unrealistic if most people host on moddrop or nexus

I have a question regarding the DIYCP. Im currntly only using to change the portraits of the npcs and all of then work except for Abigails. It shows her default one and i get an error message theres duplicates but there isnt and i dont have any other mod that has the same function. Has this happened to anyone and were you able to fix it?

Okay, so can you start by updating the mods it says? There's a few that were skipped because they're too old as well in the log. I don't see anything obvious that would cause your problem but out of date mods can cause weird issues sometimes.
Once you do that, if the problem persists, we can try removing True Love Valley and Emily Marriage Dialogue, since those do seem like the most relevant ones.

@oblique jay I've got a feature request for Stardrop if you wanna hear it. When updating mods, ask the user if they want to keep their config file (or add a config option that does it automatically). You'd just need to copy the file to a temp folder before you do the update process and then copy it back to the folder.
The latest build had new features revolving around config files so it gave me an idea lol
Profiles can save configs as of beta 16, so installing a mod update should have its config overridden / restored the next time it regenerates (via the game).

@signal hawk I have recently installed your Level Extender mod and I find it very fun. I sent you a friend request trying to send you a DM, but then I saw you were in this server. Sorry if I'm bothering you but I have a few suggestions/critiques I'd like to give your mod.
1: Lack of configs. Aside from the given commands on the Nexus page, there is very little room for customization. I understand there isn't a great need for one, but the two I would like to see the most are the ability to silence the chat spam from picking up extra items, and the ability to stop random bonus crop growth, the reason for this being that I like all my crops to be ready at the same time. I don't know how hard it would be to make toggles for these options, but I would appreciate it if you'd look into it.
2: How prestige works. The way Prestige works is a little confusing at first and is not well explained on the Nexus page. There's nothing wrong with how it works, and I understand that you have to set the level temporarily back to zero to properly re-unlock everything, but I feel this could be communicated and explained better to the audience. I would write it differently, and you are welcome to steal this description for your Nexus page if you like it.
"...the level will revert back to normal. However, if you choose to prestige, your current level will be saved, and you will be sent back to level 0. After you get back up to level 10, you will be able to continue leveling from where you left off. Example: Farming = 13, After Prestige: Farming = 0. After enough XP to get to level 10, Farming = 13 once more. Also..."
The rest of the description is good, I would just change that one part. Once again, I greatly enjoy this mod, it works well with my comically large strawberry field, as well as some of my other mods, and I'm sorry if I am bothering you.
yeah, stardrop launches SMAPI with 0 mods since it's looking for them in it's appdata folder for some reason
that got fixed with one of its updates, Peaceful is very quick with bug fixes

In addition to this, whenever I hit level 10 combat, the XP bars stop working, and the log has a seizure. This does not happen for level 10 farming but I cannot confirm for other skills. I do know however that I am still gaining XP.

though if I had to guess SMAPI would probably have to be updated to work with long paths too, and the registry change just lets your computer use long paths and programs made for them

note that you can only have one copy of each mod, so you can't....say, put rsv + all its dependencies in a folder, then sve+ all its dependencies, because rsv and sve share dependencies
But as long as a subfolder doesn't have a manifest, smapi will look into its subfolders for mods too

For the uncompatible version you should go to their post on the nexus mod and find the link for the unofficial one to replace that! Many people put the link on there

- PyTK and TMXLoader still work in 1.5.6, but you need to get the unofficial versions linked from here: https://smapi.io/mods/#PyTK (for PyTK) and https://smapi.io/mods/#TMXL_Map_Toolkit (for TMXL) As of versions unofficial.1-strobe, download the 1st file in the forum post for PyTK, and the 2nd file for TXMLoader. (If these get another unofficial update, you may need to read the forum post for details.)
- UI Info Suite does not work in 1.5.5+. Use UI Info Suite 2, which can be found here: https://github.com/Annosz/UIInfoSuite2/releases. Make sure not to download the source code.
- NPC Adventures was broken, but is now fixed for 1.5.5+! Get the latest from Nexus.
- Custom Music has an unofficial update linked here: https://smapi.io/mods/#Custom_Music (4th zip file on forum post) If you're having issues with music starting to play and then stopping, try this update.

if it's desktop and it has a graphics card and your monitor is plugged into it, you're on dedicated
integrated is running through the motherboard/CPU, if it has integrated at all

uninstall the game. Move mods folder for safekeeping. Delete the game directory

My mods are connected with vortex, too, will that effect it?

You should just be able to go into the "mods" section and click on all the mods to disable them? I haven't used Vortex that much or that long, but I've done that and it means the mod doesn't get loaded into the game but is still there in the folder, it's not uninstalled.

Is there a mod where you can configure a mine cart on a custom map to also connect to the regular mine cart system? So you can go from your farm right to the mine? I know I've seen custom maps with this built in, but is there a standalone mod to do this?
I think Entoarox's minecart framework used to work but doesn't anymore; I haven't investigated personally. Someone in making-mods was working on a minecart framework a couple days ago, not sure how it's going for them.

I saw a pack for the PPJA content... but I have JA anyway for SVE, so I decided to just get the JA packs...
I guess one of these days CP will just do everything.

Is that going to help with item ID conflicts? I just know that I tried to run Love of Cooking with PPJA stuff and SVE and weird things happened, XD Like the game labelling all sorts of wines as weird wines...
The PPJA DGA packs are all broken (conversion was done by machine, has issues)
DGA furniture is IMO the most functional furniture framework at the moment

is there some kind of mod that pauses time when 1 player in multiplayer has time paused? im only seeing mods that do it when all players have time paused
It's useful for some furnitures though, especially recolors
were trying to overcome the issue where 1 player gets into an event and loses half the day because of it
yeah, for some stuff AT is better, as it will not clutter inventory/catalog with ton of options
okay so this may be a dumb question but im new to modding and eagerly wanting to try all the extra character/village expansions, is it a better way to play 1 new village per save file or can you just.... smush them all into one save?
You can put them all in a save at once but your load times will be long and if your computer is older/less powerful it might make sad noises
My pc is pretty okay (not super new but not older) so i'll give it a shot i guess! Thanks!! (i have so 100s of hrs in vanilla and keen to see more fan made content hehe)
You could also do a save for each expansion mod and use mod groups.

That way the loading times aren't too crazy and it's easier to keep track of things.
Ridgeside Village has something like 50 npcs for example x_x which is a lot to keep track of

...Did it just take me two hours to set up a new round of mods? ...Yes it did. And I can never decide if I want to play a "never leave the farm" game or not. (But if I did never leave the farm, I wouldn't need SVE, and then I could cut down on load times... But I don't like missing out on all the content...) Fine.
