Hello people. So I started a new playthrough and I currently have 60 mods exactly. Everything is working as intended but I realized that my sprinklers are not working (Or I should say the normal sprinklers that are supposed to water 4 tiles do not work at all). Is there a known fix for this or am I screwed?
From what I've seen using CF: Items don't work on tables [DGA too] Rarely items may turn into stone chests or plant pots, they load in the festival shops, don't with with stackable item mods
Others have had problems with other stuff but not personally
Although I think it's entirely broken on mac ?
Rugs don't work on top of paths
Lamps/dressers don't function
It's not as bad as it sounds 😅 for me anyway

Actually DGA items have to specifically be sold somewhere by the mod's author, otherwise the only way to get them is via console command
also maybe consider resetting the game files

Yeah, it has to do with how they are coded to be in some sense, ID-less. I kind of understand how they would be added to the catalogue, it's just not been implemented

I have another question...I started a new save recently and all of the introductory dialogue for the NPCs (vanilla, SVE, and RSV) were just skipped and I'm not sure why. The ES NPCs work fine. SMAPI doesn't show any errors in the log. Did I do something wrong?

I mean the dialogue when you first click on them. Like, for the vanilla NPCs, they say something along the lines of "Oh hi, you're the new farmer." That doesn't play at all and instead plays their usual everyday conversational dialogue lines.

I'm not sure how I would have skipped a week. I play normally except for using CJB Item Spawner to spawn in iridium tools, resources, and gold.
I do not use any farm maps, this is the "standart farm"

you actually don't need the codes for most items. (see: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Console_commands#General_item_search_and_spawning)
it's just items with spaces in them that cause problems for debug fuzzyitemnamed (debug fin for short). Which is what I usually use for spawning items for debugging purposes

I think this got changed in the 1.5.5 update to be more flexible but I'm not 100% sure
the arecrow thing still works
but now you can add specific context tags too
right the scarecrow is a big item so you'd need the other spawn code anyways

if you don't have seeds down, the hoed ground will revert back to unhoed

I'm unable to recreate the problem, that's a little weird. I hope it fixed itself...
It'd be interesting to know if that happens again in the future (e.g. if the lag is back next time, does it eventually just stop happening?).
the stutter was gone for quite some solid minutes, however after that it came back and quite more severe. It dropped about 12+ frames and the stutter became a full freeze, so it kind of forced me to restart my game. Now that huge freeze/stutter is gone, and it's more of a smaller stutter again but still with deeper frame drops, however it no longer freezes, my character stills moves during the frame drops just jaggy. Going to keep playing, and tomorrow as well, see if it may change again
Not sure if the 0c8vynj4cqe4e bit is consistent, but we can use super-legacy Windows features to have consistent instructions even if it changes:

oh nice! Mr. Podunk, if you happen to have any insight into the game pass update schedule, I'm super curious/people here keep showing up with issues related to not having the hotfix, but also, no pressure.
honestly, we're working as fast as we can, but the requirements for putting out an update on the microsoft store are a little bit more stringent than, say, GOG or steam where we can push updates whenever we want. on microsoft/gamepass, they internally test every update we want to put out before we're allowed to push it live, and we just got news today that there was an issue preventing us from putting it out, but we've asked them to make an exception and we're waiting to hear back on that.

so it's just a series of really unfortunate events that's leading to the gamepass update being extra late, which is really bad because there have been some important fixes on the steam/gog versions
if they approve the exception, you can expect a hotfix by the end of the week. if not, well, i'm not sure either because the issue has to do with something that's outside of our control
but they've also assured us that at some point, we'll be able to 'sidestep' the testing process and at that point our updates/hotfixes should come out much closer to the GOG/steam updates

There's only a small handful of NPC seasonal outfit mods
They're so much effort
Personally, I used to use Seasonal Cute Characters, but a) the lag in winter was a bit much and b) I didn't use SVE with it so I can't tell you about that part

If you're sure it used to exist and it's not in the zip you downloaoded, you could try getting an older version of the mod from nexus. You can preview the folder contents before downloading the file, and Ctrl+F is your friend

I tried and I got the same result, the only way I get that error is by running as administrator otherwise it opens and closes right away. I'm just clicking on the install on Windows.bat, haven't used any paths that I know of

keep in mind rn on microsoft store there's a known bug
it will prevent you from using spacecore (and consequently JA, and DGA, and anything that depends on those)
Ciders in particular are not Artisan Valley, they're a different mod.

if you can't find the recipe for something, just search the ProducerRules.json

I saw that recently you had to install a Net file, which I did and installed. But even after that the problem is still not solved, smapi launches and crashes in less than a second. Again, "anything" is too broad. Are you wanting other expansions? Stuff to change mechanics? Add crops? If it's all of the above, I recommend searching Nexus and looking to see if the authors provide compatible versions. If not, then come here and we can see if we can help you find a compatible version or not.

it's a type of format where files get compressed, like putting things in a box for transport
you need to unpack them from the box

For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. For .rar and .7z, you need to install third-party software first, like 7-zip https://7-zip.org on Windows, Keka https://keka.io on macOS, PeaZip https://peazip.github.io on Linux, or ZArchiver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver on Android.
You can right click on the zip file, and one of the options should let you extract it

earlier i said that i was trying to fill my farm with metors, and someone suggested this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3231?tab=files&file_id=4699, but there's a problem. i normally use https://www.moddrop.com/stardew-valley/ for my mods as they have android downloads, as i am on chromebook and use adnroid, so i use android 3.7 smapi, so when i try and load it into my game with the 3.7 smapi this happens. is there anyway to fix this or would i have to find it on what i use?

if you read the red text in your log, you can usually tell what the actual error is— in your case, it’s not loading Stardew Valley Expanded properly because it’s missing a manifest.json!

it definitely is included in the download, I don’t know how it managed to disappear from your folder! if you want to double check, look inside the SVE folder and specifically the “[CP] Stardew Valley Expanded” and there should be a file called manifest.json in it!

yeah it’ll work fine, but wouldn’t add portraits for any of the npcs in sve, rsv or scarp (unless specified). some people make portraits for the npcs in those mods though, like dcburger’s!

It's the opposite. When you mark something as a dependency there, that dependency will load before the mod. Since the mod whose manifest.json you're modifying loads after, it "wins" the conflict.
and also, while in game if you go to the controls/options section (the game controller icon) at the bottom theres a button that says “mod options”, you can also config the mods there

I prefer playing a game unmodded for the first time and then start with modding. Only expection are maybe some texture mods but apart from that I would say no to mods on the first run to get a feeling for the game itself.

If you open the file location of Vortex's downloads folder, you'll be able to grab all the zip files

personally, i don’t see that many dga mods, but i see tons of ja ones. i would suggest sticking with ja, but i use both.

You need to check the permissions on the pytk directory. Literally every mod listed in that unofficial update has permission problems on Linux.
Just make them match CP

I think that's my problem in the first place
I still had the same error when I had all my mods
Right click the folder for CP and look at the permissions (under properties or something). It will say like "Readable, Writable, etc."and have some enabled. You need to make the folder for pytk the same.
You could use chmod in the command line, but I am not very familiar with that method.

Ubuntu had the issue where if I plugged in my secondary monitor it'd throw a fit

I really don't like ubuntu, I think going with one of it's forks is better honestly. ubuntu is really driving the use of snaps, In my opinion they are really slow and buggy.

Does anyone know of any mods that might be a good replacement for Seasonal Villager Outfits and Character Portraits Overhaul? The latter seems to be abandoned and the former isn't even up on Nexus anymore.

one thing that works sometimes is completely starting over - deleting the game folder, uninstalling the game, then reinstalling the game + smapi
