i just started using mods today and have only downloaded CP mods that affect buildings/ animals/ furnitures. no idea about how JA works.

JA is very similar to content patcher in that it’s a framework with different content packs

It does sometimes need a little more caution, since adding new items is trickier than recoloring
quick note: JA still broken for Gamepass
Mostly this means you can’t remove content packs without cleaning up first
And when you add new ones, there’s a risk of json shuffles
Because of the add/remove constraints?
Basically, the game will flip out if you have a new item that it doesn’t know exists anymore
And when you put in new items, it has to assign IDs to all of them because that’s how the game works
But it doesn’t have a way to do that that’s fully consistent if you add more new items in a different order

- BACKUP YOUR SAVE!! then you can launch the game to remove ALL items related to SVE from your chests/fridges etc etc. this includes everything from fish to forage to wine.
- install Reset Terrain Features (you can find the unofficial update on https://smapi.io/mods)
- remove SVE, launch your game. SMAPI is gonna put out warnings like "Removed invalid villager [InsertName]" thats just smapi handling it so it doesnt crash your game.
- sleep to save, go outside and check if anything needs RTF to be used on.
- Extra step: Install the NoClip Mod to get to foliage that is inaccessible.

If you're willing to spend an hour using Noclip to fix things you can do it
[#4974] "Switching to a custom farm map can be done, but you'll need to do extra steps in order to make sure you don't have buildings / items in the void, or not properly lined up.
- Grab Reset Terrain Features and Noclip Mode to set you up, and Crop Transplant Mod for a way to move your crops and trees.
- Before you install the new map, you'll need to remove all machines / chests / etc. on your map. You can store them in a chest, preferably inside your farmhouse or barns /coops / sheds.
- Go to Robin and move any buildings you have as close to the farmhouse as possible. Save before going to the next step.
- Add the new map mod (ensure it replaces the farm type you're using, i.e. Standard, Riverland, Hilltop, or Wilderness), and you'll spend some time moving everything to a proper place.
You can use Reset Terrain Features to reset the bushes, trees, and other debris.
Noclip Mode will help you reach any things that ended up in the void or an invalid tile.

After the 1.15.5 update came, 19 mods were giving yellow warnings in my game and after this event, my game had extreme fps drops after 5 minutes, what is the problem ?

fwiw, not generally a good idea to just go to administrator. Probably better to fix the permissions.
that path to the temp folder looks like what happens when you run the installer from inside the zip file

vortex itself works fine, it just may not install smapi properly
installing smapi with the installer is simple enough
vortex just makes mod installing faster
Vortex can do it, but nobody recommends it because it’s been so difficult and makes more mistakes than you would by installing manually

i haven't had problems with it yet
I'm still curious how people get it to eat a manifest, havent seen that in almost a year and over 600 mods
i tried but it didn't work
the 'this folder has files, but none of them are manifiest' errors are almost always going to be someone disabled the mod and the config file or save data is still there

Game is only using 1 thread, which is fine, but it's utilising 100% all the time, even in the main menu.
CPU is brand new. Not running any mods. Friend with a R7 3800X is reporting the same issue.
I don't know; if this also happens without mods you should report it as an official bug

What interior farmhouse mod do you guys use for v1.5.5? Seasonal garden Farmhouse V2 arranaged tilesheets which can cause crashing so I want to remove it.

So i got rid of the Garbage day mod and it fixed the first issue with the trash cans being both metal and wood. Now its a whole new issue

When I downloaded the ui info 2 file there was a folder with the word master on it with another ui info file in it. After getting an error on small that there was no manifest file in the ui master folder I put the other ui file in mods but it still wouldn't work

somtiems they grow back again
if you use the console command they don't come back
(the console command included in Destroyable Bushes)

im a total noob with using mods and im trying to use the Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic by Poltergeister and i saw that there are tons of different configs, i just cant seem to find where i can do that. is it on the black square that opens with the game? that didnt seem to work for me
run the game with the mod installed at least once. That will generate a config.json file in the Seasonal Outfits mod folder
Then you can edit the config.json file with a text editor like Notepad or TextEditor, and refer to the mod description for what the options are

my friend is having an error where he crashes ever since he had a child with emily, the smapi log is looking for a directory that doesn't seem to exist and we don't know how to fix it. this is a co-op farm where i am the save file owner

I was looking into using SVE, but it seems like one of the framework mods isn't updated? It keeps telling me that PyTK is not compatible with the current version of the game. Is there an alternative that works with SVE?

You have RSV, SVE, and East Scarpe, so those are all sizeable expansion mods. That will make the game load slower.
To clarify though, do you mean SMAPI just hangs and stops loading? You can accidentally pause SMAPI highlighting something in the SMAPI console/window, and then it goes into Select mode. When that happens, SMAPI pauses loading

i have an urgent question!! so ever since my girlfriend and i updated to 1.5.5 our mods just stopped working. i uninstalled and reinstalled smapi, mono, all of the above that smapi tells me to run but it wont work. all my mods are in the mod file but i don't know what to do. i've spent the last week maybe googling because the stardew discord slipped my mind. does anyone know what's happened or someone else is maybe experiencing it too?

So I need help with something. For some reason I can't figure out what is causing my Trash Cans to be half chests. Not only that, but my chest system isn't working correctly and items become something else sometimes. Like it will show a rock but its actually a flower until I click on it.

I got rid of Garbage day as it was conflicting with better garbage and that got rid of the metal can/wood can but as soon as I got rid of GD it did this

If you play multiple days in a row before getting your log, it gets bigger, and can load slower in the log parser site, so there's that to consider

May I please get some help troubleshooting? I've been using SMAPI and mods for a few months. When I updated SMAPI, for some reason now the game tries to load, doesn't detect my mods, then crashes before starting. It happens even if I trim the SMAPI startup to just immediately launching the game with no changes at all, so it might be something with the multiplayer static stuff or something that happens before that (e.g. a difference in the runtimeconfig or something). Are there any other suggestions on fixing stuttering in game? I've already tried the nVidia tips and I do have SVE but I don't remember having stuttering this frequent/annoying.

You're going to laugh. The issue is that you need to start the file with { and then close the file with }. This wiki has details on manifest.json format as well

Also, since my guess is you're new to SDV modding, people don't tend to run with modpacks
People use rec lists a lot more
But was trying to migrate all mods to vortex bc I use it for other games
Due to things like Nexus counting downloads for the author, redistributing mods tends to be quite frowned upon, though there is whatever the heck Nexus is rolling out with, who knows how that will go
I wouldn't really recommond migrating SDV to Vortex unless you're comfortable turning Vortex off/on again in order to manually mod when you need to debug
Unfortunately, most people who use Vortex do so to reduce their need to poke about with computers, which is kind of the worst case when things go wrong—then they are using this tool they don't really know and we don't really know, and don't always know how to remove the factor of the tool in the debugging process.

When you consume something edible, it always asks if you want to eat it, even if it's a drinkable food item. The animations play properly, the difference between eating and drinking, buffwise, is properly differentiated, but it still says "eat soda" if you made an item called "soda" and specified it was a drink.
Also, I tested DGA's machine recipe system out a bit and found that, whether intentional or not, you can actually assign multiple recipes to a single machine.
DGA uses a more environmentally friendly approach, the bottle is edible now.

But yeah, you can assign multiple recipes to a single machine recipe based on your selected inputs. I really hope that was intentional.
@thin kestrel When you're around, can you unzip this into your game folder, run it through PowerShell like you did before, and post a screenshot of what happens?
The new error is about your content.json, not the manifest.json. Check it in the validator site and also check the Content Patcher documentation on what you need to have. I'd guess it's another quick formatting fix

Honestly I'm pretty confused. Your only hair mod listed here is Sailor Styles, as best I can tell.
The mod page says you can turn off hair in that mod

would anyone know why my textures/names for some items are odd? I have a handful of mods, but for some reason a couple of crops aren't what they actually are. they have either a different crop texture along with names, or they are invisible until harvested and also show the incorrect names

here's an example, this is supposed to be honeysuckle from another mod, but the sprite for it growing, and the actual crop harvested is completely different
but when in co op, my friend can see the normal plant
