Sometimes it works fine. But when someone has problems from Vortex management, it's usually pretty bad because Vortex just eats manifests and sometimes doesn't install things right.
That's why most of us don't recommend it because when you have a problem, it will take a scorched earth approach to fix it. If you aren't familiar with manually installing mods by that point, it can be a pretty painful experience.

For me, I find manually modding totally worth the headache though. When something goes wrong, I usually know how to fix it and am pretty familiar with what all different mods change.

There is a post on the mod page that mentions that these portraits are missing some things. They were made even before Shane and Emily were romance-able. So you're likely going to still have some issues with consistency.

Well, one of the rules is "NSFW of any kind; this includes explicit sexual content, nudity, realistic gore, gruesome sex jokes, underage sex jokes, or anything sexualizing a character or person" so like beyond acknowledging their existence, it's probably better to take that to DMs.
Should I download .net SDK x64 if I want stardew to acces my whole storage it says I need .net 5 so I can do the smap beta 1.13.0
Thats wild! I know they exist for skyrim. But I can't even think of a reason to use them in stardew valley. Its just such a wholesome game.

nono, just download it. extract it in your downloads folder or desktop and try running the installer there instead of moving it

if i put "run in administrator" i have that issue
in the other case they say "hey, put the correct path" i put that and then i have the error saying "i dont have permission to do this"

@tired brook hi pathos! feku here is trying to install the 3.13 SMAPI beta for 1.5.5 but keeps getting this error, ive tried getting them to extract and install directly from downloads/desktop and it still occurs (since they previously had tried to install it from a different drive than the game is on). if they run it normally, it asks for the path and when they put it it tells them they dont have the permission to do so, and if they run as administrator they get the error in the picture here.

I guess make sure the Stardew Valley app is actually in the folder. Otherwise, I have no idea beyond trying to uninstall and reinstall.

32bit wont run on 3.13 since that version is only for 1.5.5
if you wanna keep switching between 32 and 64 bit youre gonna be in for a long of upgrading and downgrading which isnt fun
You could probably create two separate installation paths outside of steam. Wouldn't be able to use the achievements and all or get auto updates on one of the versions at least. But I would probably mess up having two different versions.
I know some mod testers/users do stuff like that since Steam auto updates.

The only times heavy tappers are referenced at all is when checking for ID's, and those are just "if the id is 264". So as far as those go I don't think there will be problems.
If there are deeper issues with the design of my code I wouldn't know though as I have never modded for older versions of smapi or SDV.
So... it might just work. Or not. Guess you'll see :P

We're mostly focusing on new content at the moment, so hopefully we can eventually add more immersive stuff that really ties up Ridgeside with both the vanilla game and other mods!

you can play both on either simultaneously
if you wanna disable the mods and play vanilla, just put a . (dot) in front of the Mods folders name
but dont run your modded save on vanilla without backing up

if you accidentally deleted a mod, SMAPI will delete stuff associated with it so your game doesnt crash
the only one mod i had issue with famer to floiset mod i had to back to older verison

No, it's not a fun dance. The Json Shuffle (or Json Scramble, as it is also known) is what happens when you add or remove a Category:Json Assets mod and then continue playing your save. The IDs of your items are likely to get mixed up (shuffled, if you will) and where once you had a blood orange you might now have a lucky clover or a sword or wh...

There's no password, you can just leave the textbox blank.

but going onto the beta just made no mods work. the console textbox thing didnt even come up
go to steam, rightclick Stardew Valley -> properties, install the beta
then install SMAPI 3.13-beta
If you try it again and it still doesn't work, feel free to ask here and we can help you get it working.
Some people had also been reporting issues with Rosetta, but I am not sure how consistent that was

So there's a console or Terminal, but then also there's a new window that comes up when it crashes that gives the text in my second link. I can copy from the console itself if that's more helpful. I assumed they both had the same info.
please do not copy the console text; upload the exported log file.
the console is missing Trace level data and metadata and therefore copy-pastes from it don't parse

The error in the 2nd one "Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code." Probably means that the log will be blank, btw
The zip warnings are harmless afaik (I get about 20 every other times)

it automatically saves as a text file to the errorlogs folder if at all possible
there's an XNA error in there, do you have an enabled audio device?
I have a bluetooth capable ps3 controller, but it has not been set up to use bluetooth on this computer, just plugged in via USB. That's the only thing close to an audio device that I can think of.

And I bring that up because unplugging it during play often causes a crash.
though yeah unplugging the input method during play does sound bad

It's using the internal speakers. My too Roku tv's are showing up as options in the sound settings, but I have never paired the computer with those.

I haven't added any new mods recently. LookUpAnything and UI Info Suite are the only two used.

As a summary of my understanding, you have three log links:
- https://smapi.io/log/5ee38396f9d84d5f8e0fac25eea7e62c This one is clean (no crashes), but contains a mod list, which is good for context.
- https://smapi.io/log/0189179fa9ae430b86e3fb8e9cf6a0a6 This is the computer's own error report it produces (MacOS thing), which is from a crash that happened before you loaded a save.
- https://smapi.io/log/a73d0855a1b2462098879ffc7a05970b This is a copy-paste of console after a mid-game crash. You have an error right at the end of "Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries used by your application." which could potentially be valuable. The mid-game crash occured when looking in a backpack, chest, or looking at the quests/challenges.
Let me know if anything in there needs correcting, and then I think at least all the info is nicely complied?

Also, one more question: are these crashes reproducible? (can you force one to happen?)
If so, forcing one to happen and getting the log file instead of a copy-paste would be valuable.
I'm trying right now. I can easily force it by unplugging the controller. I'm going to try just opening my backpack and chests repeatedly to see if that can force it. Sometimes I can play through a full day or two, other times half a day.

Question. My game is modded (PC) and I've noticed that since the update, my ||ducks do not get into the pond even though they spend time going around the ponds.|| I'm not sure if it's a conflict with a mod vs vanilla, any idea? Using the Forest Farm map.

Are you sure that it's not just that there's low-chance for ducks to go into ponds?
Unfortunately that aspect makes it very hard to test.
Also, they definitely won't go in if unpetted.
Oh they are all very, very well loved.
I wasn't aware it was a chance percentage, but even then, it's already been one ingame year and nothing.
I will play until it crashes and let you know. I did change a setting on the UI info mod, to take away the calendar/billboard icon, as that seems to be a little wonky anyway. I really appreciate everyone trying to help!

Okay, if you get a nice crash log I will edit in, and then probably ping Pathos. I certainly don't have a solution, but it's a much more valuable bug report the more context we get. Pathos doesn't have a MacOS setup to test on (last I heard), so it's possible it's some stray thing he wouldn't be able to hunt down on Windows/Linux.
Or it could be Lookup Anything fighting with UI Info Suite, really just hard to tell tbh

I'm a little invested myself bc I have gotten SIGSEGV when using NPC Map Locations, but only twice and I haven't gotten good logs from it.

I have no idea what the Sims 4 is like, but you just download mods, unzip, move into mods folder
download mod, open zip, drag folder into mods folder.
unlike with the sims modding, you don't want to move just the contents of those mod folders into your Mods folder, the folder itself is important too
(i've played sims 2 and 3, both modded - have not touched sims 4)

Expanded, drone, statue of genrosity, NPC tracer. I saw on let'splays that expanded has a new farm map but I didn't see it
with a larger number it's easier to miss 1 or 2 but they'll show up in your smapi console and log as red text up in the mod loaded area
SVE has two separate download farm maps; they both replace the standard mod
there are so many modded farm maps you can try if you want one!
im currently using an incredibly large one called everfarm

Ridgeside doesn't affect the actual bus stop / machine, just that one small corner for the stairs up

Yes, it doesn't matter any of that. What matters is how many mods you have, how big those mods are, and how many consecutive days at a time you play.
You need to reduce at least one of these, or try switching to beta.
Actually, number of days played total in the save might matter a little, but not as much as the other ones I mentioned

there's been some incredibly weird ways people have messed up installing mods
like the person who disassembled all their mods
or the person who took the manifest.json of the most recent mod theyd downloaded and replaced every other manifest.json they had with it so SMAPI saw only like 50 copies of the same mod

Oh also how often do I have to update my mods and how will I know when I have to?
most mods have update keys in their manifest which lets SMAPI do update checks, so for most mods, there'll be purple text in the console alerting you to an update when there's an available update!
also, nexus puts an Update Available banner over the preview image of mods that you have downloaded that have updated any files since you last downloaded the mod

the monogame beta is a stardew valley version
so it handles just like a regular stardew valley update
i.e. steam or GOG handles installing it for you (once you let it), you install an updated SMAPI, update a handful of mods, and you're good to go

So, putting this here for anyone who might be interested for future reference: on Mobile with SVE the skull cavern elevator does not work once Crimson Badlands are opened. The updates to make the elevator work with the badlands are all for later updates of Sve,etc. that are incompatible with mobile Sdv.
But, if you're using Sve and want to essentially do something like the elevator, you can use the commands console to jump to the level you want.
i dont think its something to worry about unless it causes issues, which if it does then you just follow what it says at the end. even mine has some issues but i am yet to run into any
but then again i'm not an expert so it's best to ask someone who develops code and actually properly knows about it, so it's best to wait until someone experienced responds

it has that option but it's not accurate and yes it doubles your npcs with the other mod installed

I sort mine by purpose so like Aesthetic, Music, Events, Expansions, etc. And then each mod gets its own folder if it has multiple folders itself like [CP], [TMXL], etc.
That way I can keep everything organized.

i have a bunch of the ones you have and have never come across that error so your culprits might be the ones i dont have which are: nikolai, museum expansion, isla, and mike
try removing one at a time if possible and see if the issue continues until you find the culprit

i would uninstall it -- imo, most one-npc mods are not worth it because of how much room there is for map errors, schedule errors, etc. (when i first installed mike, it completely removed the cable car entrance in the bus stop to go to rsv)
RIP mike you lasted less than two weeks of my testing save.
cable car was fine on my end, but it might be him killing my ability to sleep who knows

even if it means removing the earthy recolor map and having it all be default, i'd rather it all at least be the same color
you can delete the world maps from the recolor so that your map looks vanilla i believe
you can then remove the code for it from the content.json

it happens seemingly randomly sometimes, maybe about 20% of the time -- i remember it happening in my old playthrough but i cant remember what causes it or what i can do to help that

Probably because it's loading in an area. The same thing happens sometimes on SVE and custom farm maps.

The question is that if anyone of you guys have seen Sam's birth event if you're his spouse bc I downloaded and used the mod days after Sam asked me to have a baby with him. He asked me to have a baby with him sometime around Winter 23, Y2 and I got to see the pregnancy event sometime around Spring 3 or 4 Y3 but never got to see the whole letter thing.

I'm not 100% sure that this is related, but there is a more up to date version of the No More Bowlegs mod that might help. I believe it's connected to the thunderstorm somehow. Because the other days of Spring were fine, and have had the Seasonal Cute running since Summer (of the previous year).
First thing... update your mods and see what that fixes.
Also, I don't think the reshade stuff is doing anything so might as well delete all that.

I have to go in a few. I'm not 100% sure what's causing the torch duplication thing. You can try doing a patch summary and look through that to see if you can figure out which mod is replacing the picture of whatever item is supposed to be there in the crafting menu.
