mhh might be useful to have a log from right after 9PM so we can check what the game is doing
the reason i thought it was FTM at first was cuz FTM does a bunch of checks after 9pm regardless of my farm configuration

You can change the crop yield under "[JA] Fizzy Drinks/Crops/Guarana" in the json, and sell price under "[JA] Fizzy Drinks/Objects/Guarana"
Though it looks like sell price is 200 and seed price is 50, growth in 7 days and regrow in 3, that doesn't seem terrible to me?

it is a multi yield harvest and one plant drops a lot of guarana. I did a crop of 40 (2,000 gold cost) and the first yield gave me 50k gold.
Ah, I didn't check how many it grew. Look under "Bonus" section in the Json to change those, it might also be the maxincreaseperfarmlevel being way too high

Json assets documentation says you get 5 farming XP for harvesting the plant based on that entry, but I feel like I've heard people discussing balance issues with that field so I'm not sure what's up

Understood. I'm running most of the crop mods out there PPJA, bonsters, and fizzy drinks. For the most part, I haven't found any major broken plants except Guarana and Ginsing. Those crops are the only ones that have stupidly high yield rates to the point that one harvest will give you 100K+ cash. so I'm trying to finally go through and balance those crops myself. especially since it doesn't seem the mods get updates anymore. Thanks to your help I should be able to mess around with the settings.

Is there a way to make a friend force download mods on server connect, something like minecraft/terraria does, or does handing them a mod list to dl still the only way
Your mods all go in a folder, you can always zip it up and send it to them
No way to do an auto-download or anything.
I ask the knowledgable amoungst us a question... at one time I had a simple mod where when fishing, I could just hit a key & get out of a caught fishing chest if I didn't want to take all the treasure (junk)

No, Smapi hiccups and locks up when loading, then when I hit load or open a new farm, it hard freezes my game for multiple minutes

Well... my game in it's current state will allow me to hit escape if I take everything OR I can get out by hitting OK if I just take whatever & leave the rest... my gripe is that when it's the second option, I have to do a fairly large mouse swing to hit OK. It gets old if I already have a case of "too much using the mouse-itis" I wish I could just get out of the chest by always hitting escape whether or not anything is still in it
I suppose I could just opt out of chests completely, but I do get more minerals from fishing than I do from mining

As someone who uses the arrow keys/doaction keys 95% of the time, the last 5% seems a bit inescapable
Oh dear, in full screen windowed mode, it started being really really jittery
Also, Pathos? Should we be concerned about the odd.. chunking with Smapi? Like, we do something and then it adds in a bunch of random spaces into the log
And apparently full screen mode doesn't like discord anymore? My cousin told me to say this, I can't be in full screen anymore due to.. it jittering like crazy when I move, but I feel like that's a discord issue

I have noticed a lot of extra pointless spaces in my SMAPI logs. Notably, every time I open my inventory I get like two newlines.
discord overlay and steam overlays are the bane of my existance
I mean, I haven't used the Discord overlay in years, and haven't had problems with the Steam overlay in like a decade.

That only shows up at the end of smapi installation. To copy text out, highlight it, then right click the window bar at the top, go down to Edit, and then Copy
I think just highlighting and right clicking once does it too.

many of them have specific beta versions, compatibilty also varies slightly beta version to beta version
until this last patch that added the wall stuff most things were compatible
I mean, I have 118 mods and literally it's only Love of Cooking that doesn't work...
there's also the unoffical pytk that's floating around
I think I swapped less than ten of them.
Probably you just have broken frameworks which is cascading to everything else, like you need Beta PyTK
For example, if you don't have Beta Content Patcher, all your content patcher mods will look broken

Hmm... haven't really played with anyone in a while. I think the default assumption these days is quite the opposite of what it used to be, almost everything is multiplayer compatible thanks to advancements in SMAPI and such
I can give you a few multiplayer focused mods, but I'm more a mod encylopdia than... I don't really multiplayer, but I'm honestly not sure that any are multi-unfreindly??

Er.. why did the game freak out? We removed the NPC Riley and they didn't come with any items or anything like that. The game didn't load the lower half of the bridge to the beach ( Edited via SVE ) but I went down there anyways, it still didn't load it fully, and then I couldn't walk back out of it, then my game froze and I noticed the spamming of errors

Apparently Mail Framework Mod has a pull request outstanding on the GitHub for the update that will make it work with DGA, the author said they'd try to get it out this weekend
If that goes through then my problems with PPJA Redux not behaving properly in regards to giving recipes in the mail will be fixed.

This packs adds 17 flowers and 2 crops, in various seasons, including some winter flowers, and the ability to discover seeds or flowers in the wild.
There also used to be a mod called Stephan's Lots of Crops that was a bit of a misnomer because it actually wasn't that many crops, but it seems to be gone from Nexus and not re-uploaded anywhere I know of, which is sad because it had onions as a crop, which I liked.
Hm, I think that's the Lumina pack I've used before (she has a couple iirc). I haven't tried the others yet. I'll take a look once I start playing again. ๐

first log has some..interesting errors
stardew kids expansion has sigificant json issues, self service might be breaking things, and the latest ayeshia might also have a typo
as to the second, there's literally no mention of riley in the log other than those last 2 errors, which is..curious
anyone just get that feeling where you just sit in limbo wanting to play stardew, but not knowing what to do or what to mod? that's me rn

We do still have custom kiss and pregnancy role, but I glanced in their folders and they only mention one other NPC, John, who we also removed but have never once gotten any errors from him
Walk through trellis errors don't do anything, been getting them for months, it's the Riley one that decided to freeze up my game. The host didn't get any sort of error ( And double checked that they had Riley removed too, and they did )
Would those two mods potentially cause any errors after being played with Riley?

You won't lose your mods. Just unzip the new update into the Stardew Valley game folder and install it the same way, it'll overwrite the old SMAPI

i'm kinda running out of options on solutions for my inexplicable frame drop issues
for updating SMAPI it's the same as installing it, and for updating Mods usually it's as simple as putting the folder in the mods folder and overwriting everything, sometimes you should delete the mod folder and then put the new one instead
so im using a mod that adds silo functionality to placeable haybales and in the config you can set the amount of hay a haybale can store compared to a silo and the price
i wanted to set down the price and reduce the amount it can store so haybales are a cheaper option but have less room to balance it compared to silo's but when i try doing a decimal number it says that the number i put in is invalid
what am i doing wrong?

The assets show the broken greenhouse has leaves but my greenhouse stays unmodded. I checked the asset names together with the .json files to see if they match and they're all fine so I can't find the problem...

Not helpful much but a similar mod is Elle's Seasonal Vanilla Buildings, also recommended by the original seasonal vanilla buildings mod author, also based on the post you sent me, i just opened their content.json and it seems to have an extra comma at the end that shouldn't be there, try loading it in !json and fixing it with any text editor :D as for the wallpaper issue, no idea either, it happens to me too, no idea why it happens ๐คทโโ๏ธ

cuz the author commented that 0.5 would work, but also he said the value is an integer so 0.5 wouldn't work

you misread that, that's specifically saying it would not
ints are whole numbers
and it has to do with how hardcoded the silo stuff is, that mod can only really access 'how many silos do you have' without lots of deep editing
i think im just gonna delete the mod tbh
its not essential to my modpack anyways but i wanted to at least try to make it work

We used to, but due to wanting to cut back on mods, we removed them from our MP game. Host didn't have any errors at all
ah, didnt get that was the goal, you likely need to remove the pregnancy stuff since it sees the npc code still in the save file
and atleast play a day and save so riley the npc is gone from the save file

No, didn't think we would need to as we've removed NPCs without issue before
going from inside to outside and visa versa takes noticably longer than going from outside to outside or inside to inside

reinstall riley and see if it fixes the problem?
Would it be better to reinstall them, or to get rid of custom kiss and pregnancy role? We got rid of them purely to help cut back on our loading times
singular npcs wont change load times all that much, but Riley in general is odd with the gender changing..ness
and you have something that is seeing Riley's existence in the save, thats what's causing that red error
It helped cut back on Smapi loading for me, beta loading time for me has gotten worse due to PyTK and Smapi kept getting stuck on their mod
yeah, so load up riley and make sure you dont habe like...a quest or something
and that nobody married riley
I don't believe Riley comes with any items, or quests, just a little house

When I transition from one area to another there should be a slow in and out fade, but using Elle's, it fades in and the new area bluntly appears

it adds a menu in the main menu of stardew valley that allows u to config it without having to edit files
and afaik the keybinding is only to enable/disable the minimap

best way to find the folder would be to rightclick stardew valley in steam and go to manage/browse local files
then you should be able to follow the content\characters\farmer folders and the hairstyles.xnb is in there
i would reccomend to rename the old hairstyles.xnb to something like "OLDhairstyles.xnb" so if you wanna uninstall the mod you can just delete the hairstyles.xnb file u put in and rename the old one back to hairstyles.xnb and it should run as normal again

For example, if I want to have different type of mods for different types of games, can I do it without having to modify my mod folder everytime I wanna switch?

the only thing that may work is if u wanna play vanilla just launch the standard stardew valley instead of the smapi launcher (idk if that works tho never tried it)

if you already have a save started you need to build friendship with the wizard npc

what it basically means is because it doesnt recognize the items this mod adds in your list of items (cuz it isnt there) it cant add it as a recipe in the machine

Delete the mods that give you errors in your logs and re-download them if needed. As Pillow mentioned before you can't use certain mods with SVE.

I meant probably some mod is causing the menu to look weird so need to look for which one is messing it up, and any mod editing crafting menu like that could cause the problem.

Things like these are one of the reasons you should leave vanilla characters alone in big expansion mods. Let people choose if they wanna have the Abigail is the Wizard's Daughter Plot or not.

Agreed. There are a few directions SVE takes the characters that I feel forces the player's view. And whilst other mods do that (heck I do it myself), at least in small mods if you dont like the direction it goes in you can uninstall it.

Personally in general with modding, I just like to mix and match my experience to make it completely unique. Some new fish here, a custom NPC there... An overhaul of the entire game doesn't really appeal to me because that takes away what I love most about using mods.

If you wanted the same sprites, one option is replacing the files under that folder with those under the assets/Natural/Penny
So basically copy paste Natural folder into Adopted folder for any characters you want similar sprites

How long do you wait? Because I see you've got SVE installed, which adds a LOT of load time haha. So it could be that you just have to wait ~5 to 10 minutes

You've also added crops to your mods folder which aren't mods, but it's own folders. Something went wrong with installing that too.
- Experience Bars 1.1.1, Happy Birthday 1.4.1, Makeshift Multiplayer 0.3.7, Simple Crop Label 5.2.0, Tractor 4.1.0 no longer compatible versions.
- ^ Crops folder problem. you probably unzipped a mod zipfile directly into the Mods/ folder without its own.
- Reinstall SVE.

Quick tip. Whenever you want to mod Stardew you almost always want to have Content Patcher, since it handles a lot of mods. Other than that if you want a certain mod and you're not sure if you need anything else, there's a dropdown section in the description tab that tells you what's required to run the select mod.

Recommended to use Content Patcher versions (like the one you are using rn), and possibly only the ones that are 1.5 supported. Older, unupdated ones likely be missing beach portraits

And crashes and freezes are technically different too but from a user's perspective it's still gone kablooey

No, you will want to edit .json file as well if you wanted to do that. A problem will occur if the bachelorettes' author uses "Load" instead of "Edit" but I doubt

200 mods, about 80 content packs, no SVE, takes 3 minutes to load mods, another 2-3 min loading a save file, loading into the actual gameplay unreponsive 3-4 min. Windowed

Okay! I compiled the pull request for the Mail Framework Mod myself, and we'll see if it works with DGA! I also had to pull up a list of every single mail.json file entry I had, extract the IDs, and then run a hundred "player_removereceivedmail" commands so I can get all the mail again, but if it worked then I'll find out tomorrow when I wake up to 40 letters full of recipes and seeds

With just that selection? Probably not? If it's mostly graphical and gameplay stuff... the thing that really messes it up is anything that changes the save serializer, and content mods. Removing content mods will at best give you broken stuff and at worst really mess up your game
I mean, it won't hurt to try it though. Just load the game, poke around for a while and see if stuff is broken.

Ah man... the pull request for MFM does not let you get the DGA stuff in the mail, sadly.
Might just be my amateurishness messing it up, but it didn't work to get me recipes or anything that I could see.

Like I used hardware Crusor, gamepad only, auto detect gamepad, and invert toolbar scroll direction n it worked

Yeah, the issue isn't "Getting a letter" the issue is that DGA recipes are never included.
I am very willing to follow instructions though
I made a text file with all the remove_receivedletter commands or whatever to make it so that I get all of the letters again, but I still can't receive any recipes even with the newest MFM

My guess was it's an attempt to avoid conflicts
you need to check how the recipe is called in the DGA file
and call it the same in the letter
Yeah, it looks like all of the recipes in PPJA Redux were renamed to "Converted_Recipe Name"
But the Mail.json still references just "Recipe Name"
Tiled is a map editor that allows to edit maps and make maps.
Maybe your issue could also be fixed by editing the tmx file - but that's out of my league. Maybe the folks at #making-mods-general can help you out?
