It usually takes someone who really wants to use the mod to contact the author and make an update. (Though some people do it anyways...)

Well, if you do, Earthy recolor is really nice. It's my favorite by far.
earthy recolor and vibrant pastoral have been my favorites so far, mix VP with the foliage redone trees... chefs kiss
I tried to do the Foliage Redone trees with Earthy and it didn't mix well so I've just settled for Earthy's trees. I think they're growing on me.
I'm still not able to even load my saved games with the beta, still hard freezes..

No, just hard freezes, and it's absolutely not a mod load problem, because I'm only running 20 mods to attempt to test out my map

If the author didn't put in a scroll bar, it will do that. The wallet is bad about it too.

I'm working on a large farm map. It'll have the config option to have an edited version with waterfalls, but the waterfalls one requires Daisyneko's tilesheets
All Recolours that have been updated for 1.5 contain all the new tilesheets ConcernedApe has made and changed. If a map happens to have vanilla Colours on certain parts of the map (like on cliffs) that's because the creator of the map made a customtile and didn't bother to make it compatible with the Recolours.

If you want Daisy to update a mod, you should leave a comment. Otherwise, they won't know where to prioritize.
They'll want to know what's not working though so be prepared to give a log.

@dire fractal Ah.. Hi. I dunno if I should tag you or Pathos since he actually made the code, but I'm unable to load the Load saves menu, or load into a new save, without nearing crashing the game. I can make the farmer, but the second I try loading into the farm, or just clicking the Load menu, it hard freezes, and refuses to do anything for multiple minutes on end. It's not a mod problem as I'm testing this with only 20 mods, the bare bones of what Smapi requires, and the usual testing mods ( Content patcher, CJB, mod config menu, etc etc etc ) . I've narrowed it down and everything except PyTK loads it within a few seconds after a very tiny delay

Well again. Waterfalls are very difficult to do, there's a reason why only Daisyneko has a working waterfall tilesheet for public use. If you want a map that includes one, you either have to find someone who made their own tilesheet ( Which still brings up the issue of the recolor ) , make your own ( And thus your own tilesheet and recolor ) or bite the bullet and either be okay with a slightly off color for those specific tiles, or use a different recolor
just to clarify, the waterfall aren't DaisyNiko
they are a free to use asset that was shared on chucklefish forum
Just open Daisyniko's Tilesheet in Gimp or whatever and edit the Colours of the waterfall to make it match with the water from rosier

but yes, waterfall are hard to do and that's the reason why nearly every waterfall you'll encounter is this free asset of waterfall

At least I've found a workaround that lets me monitor Smapi but still have it loading, my resolution for this screen is weird, so I can't normally play in windowed mode, but setting it temporarily as that before attempting to load anything helps

I got onto my 32bit version of the game & it says 27 mods need updating... because I was just on the 64 bit version, I know that three-forths of those mods listed only have updates for the 64bit version.

I have occasionally had an issue when using a custom farm map that once in a while, one of the areas won't load and SMAPI gives me an error saying that portion of the map won't load - but then the next time, it does load. So I just restart my game. I'm just not sure why that happens, I've had it with two different farm maps now.
Does anyone know why that might happen/why it's inconsistent?

or else the new farm will eat them

[#4974] "Switching to a custom farm map can be done, but you'll need to do extra steps in order to make sure you don't have buildings / items in the void, or not properly lined up.
- Grab Reset Terrain Features and Noclip Mode to set you up, and Crop Transplant Mod for a way to move your crops and trees.
- Before you install the new map, you'll need to remove all machines / chests / etc. on your map. You can store them in a chest, preferably inside your farmhouse or barns /coops / sheds.
- Go to Robin and move any buildings you have as close to the farmhouse as possible. Save before going to the next step.
- Add the new map mod (ensure it replaces the farm type you're using, i.e. Standard, Riverland, Hilltop, or Wilderness), and you'll spend some time moving everything to a proper place.
You can use Reset Terrain Features to reset the bushes, trees, and other debris.
Noclip Mode will help you reach any things that ended up in the void or an invalid tile.

it gives us a full list of your mods; there are tons of mods out there and we don't always know what might be causing something. there are also sometimes hidden trace messages in logs that can help diagnose a problem

that looks like a corrupted save, maybe?
looks like you have no mods installed, only SMAPI components; therefore if you installed a mod it'd be an XNB file-replacer
The mod I use for the map is not xnb, it's a CP mod.

the log website sometimes does an annoying thing where it won't show all the mods somebody has
since you're on a mac, yeah you'll have to run the SMAPI installer again after verifying your files
it is possible that a map mod would cause this, but since you're on mobile and have 1.4 i think it's more likely that it's just a game issue
you can try removing your map mod and see if that fixes the issue
We'll see, the problem is only with Pam and Shane, which makes it weird.

Yes apparently
It can't fix every cause of void walking, but there's a particular thing that happens because of the double doors, where NPCs can path through the door on the left trying to reach the door on the right. Hitting left door warps them into the next area, and they continue their futile search for the right door forever into the void...
Zip #1 (that Lemurkat linked) just removes one of the door warps to demonstrate. This one changes a back tile under the left door to discourage NPCs from pathing through it. Either should fix that particular cause for void walking, though, just this one is less... destructive :P

Is anyone else having trouble with Moddrop at the moment? I was trying to download a mod and it's taking about 5x longer than it should according to my internet speed
The website also loads noticeably really slowly compared to other websites, and different elements on the page take a long time to come up
My internet is being a little slow atm but I am still getting 10-12 Mbps and it's taking 15-30 min est. for 100Mb.

Items becoming other items is the JA item ID shuffle. PFM didn't do that. Did you add / remove any JA mods?

Okay so I've learned more about this weird ass.. issue I'm having with the beta's PyTK unofficial. It catches and freezes when trying to load the Load menu and while making a new save, unless I've already done so and have simply exited back to the title screen

Yeah, seems to be something slower in the updated PyTK serialization feature; it's probably not frozen entirely, but it takes a while for PyTK to apply all its changes.

the first one is 'mask' not meat, and mask in this context is releated to the picture/png itself
basically it's saying the building in question does not have a 'mask' to tell the game where to allow repainting

You have a lot of mods that need updates. Idk if that would fix it but it's good practice to keep them updated.
Someone in the vanilla support channel mentioned this has been an issue even with no mods. Can you try temporarily removing all your mods to see if the problem still happens? If you could test on a new save as well as an existing one that would give us a little more to go on. As long as you quit without saving, the existing save will be fine.
However if you want, you can also make an extra copy / backup of your save

or possibly a combination of mods not interacting well. You mentioned you had recently added new mods. Have you tried removing those last few new mods to see if gets rid of the issue?
I removed the greenhouse sprinlkler mod since that directly changes the gamecode
but there was no difference
you listed multiple things here, so you could try removing all of those to see.
Otherwise, you'd need to go the half and half route. Remove half the mods, see if that fixes the issue, and if not, remove another half, etc. until you narrow down the culprit(s)

Random question: not just Stardew but why does mod in most game take more time to load vs official contents
Is it the way in which they are developed?
I'm mainly a 3d modeler/illustrator by trade and work with games a lot. I was wondering why modded content seem to be less smooth compared to normally implemented ones in most scenario.
It's because they're additional content. You can load 100% of the game in 1 minute, you can load 150% of the game in 1 minute 30 seconds. It's slightly less efficient in most cases because you have to do some additional dickery on top of just the game's own loading process to sideload in additional code however you want too, which means that there's kind of an efficiency penalty. The game might take 2x as long to load even if you only add 20% more content, because it's 5 times more complex or what have you to inject additional junk into the game that wasn't intended to be there.
So I guess mods are loaded in way that the engine or game doesn't intend it to load

Mods are also loaded with the ability to be easily removed, which vanilla content is obviously not.
And Pathos has made Smapi have backwards compatibility, and it detects when you've removed content and cleans it up so your save isn't broken.
So, yeah, takes longer.
If you put your mod directly into the xnb files it would load way faster but be a huge pain to remove later.
Mods are additional content that mod creators have to find creative ways to slide into the game without fucking up the original game
Not to metion being a huge headache to fix down the road when you may have forgotten which xnbs were modified
Itās an inherently inefficient system because the game itself isnāt optimized for random additional content because said content wasnāt anticipated
If it was, itād be made as official content and part of the base game
Speaking of headaches... I really do wish that modders would not call their mod one thing on Nexus (or Mod Drop) and even have that name on the zip, then actually have it load in under a different name.
Honestly I think it just makes people who create good mods more impressive
But yeah- it takes longer because youāre effectively sewing an inefficient third arm that wasnāt planned for into the body of the game
the name switch makes tracking down the right mod to update or remove a real pain .... (especially when you run a big mod list)

on windows you can just use file explorer

The most recent beta update is telling me that Item Bags, which I got back when the bigger bags mod stopped working, is no longer compatible. The last update for Item Bags was back in May. Is there some way to salvage all of the stuff I have in those bags, or am I going to have to start a new save (yet again) until the mod gets an update...if it ever does?

I was initially using Bigger Backpack, but it had stopped working at some point when I went to the 1.5.5 beta. Item Bags was compatible, and was a bit more interesting. So I switched to it, and Smapi flagged it as incompatible on the last update (after I'd spent a good deal of time and money getting a few bags). Having the inventory flexibility is hard to go back from.
i just double checked, and now it worked, tea bushes matured, they just won't give me the tea leaves til the last week
The only warning that specifically mentions a shed is from Bigger Sheds (it reorders the tilesheets and I guess is missing one?), so I would try without that since the game has changed how the decorating works. IF2 doesn't have anything to do with the regular sheds, it just adds a separate buildable location that happens to be named RedShed.
That said, I suspect TMXL will need an update for the most recent beta even though it technically loads, and have not tested for any adverse effects using the Nexus version of IF2 with the latest build. The next update will eliminate the FTM pack and migrate the new location to CP, but I'm still thinking about the TMXL one, because I like being able to charge money/materials for the buildable if people want. Depends on the state of TMXL out of beta, I guess.
So what exactly happened overnight to make Item Bags incompatible? Has pytk been changed from the unofficial update? Or has SMAPI beta changed? also from the latest update available

Not sure what the cause was. It popped up first time I ran the game after the last beta/Smapi update.
anyone on who can help me trouble shoot this? It changed to summer, It's SVE, and the other maps that use season_outdoorsTilesheet work fine. (Nevermind the backwoods is also like this, and the forest, so the SVE changed maps that use outdoorsTilesheet)
Note: I fixed it. Somehow the spring outdoorsTilesheet snuck into the map files for expanded. I assume I did it at some point when trying to look at maps

Well... the only error showing are from SMAPI, even tho you also have the latest (so far) version from the SMAPI page..... Therefore I deduce that SMAPI has undergone some kind of changes

Soooo I guess I'll just go back to 32bit version for now. Item Bags is a core mod for me... chests are nice and serve a good backup/stockpile resource, but nothing else replaces Item Bags. Without that mod I would be forever fooling around with my inventory trying to sort and store stuff

You can use ModDrop ( Do NOT use Vortex ) but modding for Stardew is extremely easy. Download and run Smapi to install it, it'll create a mods folder, download the mods you want and any mods they require to run, unzip them, put the folders into the Mods folder
And you're done
Vortex is known to cause issues when installing things, and will sometimes eat files that prevents mods from working
Yeah Vortex messes things up a lot. I have only used it to install updates to SMAPI itself since I donāt know how to do that manually yet. But for mods, I deal with those manually.
The game doesn't have modding support built-in, so it can't be added to Steam Workshop. (Also not sure if Steam Workshop would allow SMAPI mods anyway, since they might not like arbitrary code execution.)

Smapi can be updated with just reinstalling the new version. You don't have to do anything else except run the new version, just like you did when you first installed it

im just using windows defender and tried adding an exeption as well as disabling it
Nexus scans every uploaded file with 60+ antiviruses plus a few internal security checks, so it should be pretty safe. Nothing is guaranteed on the Internet though, you can get a virus from practically anything (installing a mod, downloading a Steam game, being outside, etc).

@timber shale You can install Nexus mods through ModDrop by dragging and dropping the download onto it. That won't give you update alerts, but SMAPI should show update alerts in the SMAPI console anyway.
Can you try this?
- Open
install on Windows.batin a text editor (Notepad is fine). - Find this line:

- Change it to this:

- Run the installer again and post a screenshot of the new error.

Hi guys. I am on my first play through and just about to marry abigail. Happy with where I am at but nowhere near a finished farm. I am starting to get a bit bored as it feels like I repeat the same day quite a lot to earn money and have explored most areas. Should I add mods after marrying abigail just to add some more excitement to the game. Like the large map mod? Or do i need to start a new save?
