That's why I was asking what backup you're trying to use. The game keeps the previous day's save as the Old file in the saves folder. SMAPI keeps extra backups.
If you're trying to revert more than 1 day, then you'd use the SMAPI backup

The SMAPI backup needs to go into where the game stores the actual saves. Where are you extracting the SMAPI backup to?

Go 1 level up so you see the Ben etc. Folder and drag and drop that to where your saves go. That will extract it to the correct folder
Don't extract to your desktop, that won't do anything. Extract to the actual saves folder

Files with the extension .zip, .rar, or .7z are archive files, which you can extract to get the actual files inside. For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. For .rar and .7z, you need to install third-party software first, like 7-zip https://7-zip.org on Windows, Keka https://keka.io on macOS, PeaZip https://peazip.github.io on Linux, or ZArchiver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver on Android.

Take the Ben whatever folder that contains the saves there, and move that up into the saves folder
You can delete the other save/world folder since we don't care about it, and delete the folder starting with 2021
The Ben whatever folder is inside a folder and then inside a 2nd folder, that's why the game can't find it when you try to load

An item with the same key has already been added is the error you get when trying to load your game... I don't know why however as I can't see anything. Might just be a corrupt save 
It says item with the same key has already been added. Usually only see that with JA adding duplicates and then red wall of death.
I recommend checking your JA packs to make sure the same item isn't added twice. To speed it up, you can remove half your JA mods and see if the error still happens, to narrow it down
call me old, but... 1: grammar is nice to see. 2: ask for help, not demand it. and 3: don't spam multiple channels, it just irritates people.
I haven't played on the save in months is the weird thing, haven't even loaded into it at all. It's also not on that save at all that I'm trying to get into

Before I go reboot, not sure if anyone's come across this recently but my game seems to be running kind of laggy atm, as if everything's just a millisecond behind what it should be, so when I'm running about it's not smooth at all. Only dodgy things in the log are:

Ah ye that's something the mod author would need to fix unless you want to try your hand at Tiled. You could try temporarily removing said mod and see if that fixes the lag.
Otherwise if you use Automate, you can tweak the update interval in the config.json to see if that helps, or share your log to get more suggestions
I don't have automate, but I'll grab a log quickly to see if there's anything else I'm missing!

Hey guys, i have updated everything for expanded even the unofficial pytk and such but when i launch the game it will let me in the menu and after that if i press load it will then freeze up and it crashes. Anyone experience this?

The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.
you'll lose a day of progress but it should fix it if you follow the instructions right

I've had progressively worse portraits happen... they start losing pixels & become patchy

I've taken out pretty much all of my other mods for now but when I had them in replacement portraits where you overwrite the pixel portraits were working but the CP versions weren't?
Yeah I've got pytk and I'm not sure that its the problem tbh because usually if theres an error it'll show up in the log but theres nothing for some reason

uhh theres a way to undo your last save even further which could possibly help if your file has been corrupted
in your Stardew Valley folder, theres a folder names save-backups. its where SMAPI keeps extra backups of your saves

i did a full delete of all mods in vortex then reinstalled all of them because before i did that smapi was crashing before even generatign a log
Looks like a broken content mod... Vortex does weird stuff like that once in a while, it's why I eventually ditched it in favor of just managing the folders myself.
Verify your game files maybe through Steam?
How many mods are you running? What is it doing when it crashes? Does it just freeze up and go into not responding?

sorry for always asking but i havent found a solution to the crafting menu icons overlapping each other (the descriptions also are out of the box this is what it looks like for my screen (theres nothing unusual in SMAPI)

why are you using beta versions of mods when you're still on 1.5.4?
looks like some of your mods are wantign the 3.13.0 smapi but your using the 3.12.7 might make sure your using a mix of the same mods as in if a mod says it needs thebeta version have the beta version or dont have the beta bersion
you just need to downgrade your mods or upgrade your game by opting into the beta and getting SMAPI 3.13

vanilla spouses can change flooring or wallpaper, it's kinda rare but does happen. it doesn't sound like that's your issue though

you're missing some required mods: custom companions and quest framework. you need them for ridgeside
if you open the log it should tell you where the multiple copies are

Ye I'm not sure how many folks are aware of the compat list, so it's definitely good to raise awareness of it. Especially if there's another update
okay now my only issue is tractor mod says out of date, but also that it's the most recent i can fine even using the compat list

problem with the compatibility list is that it will say mod's ok , but not that is isn't compatible with 54bit
It does track compatibility with the current 64bit beta. If something is wrong, it is manually edited via this page https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Mod_compatibility on the wiki.

It works for other versions of SMAPI
(The unofficial 64bit version is not going to be supported any longer in any case, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to start tracking it now...)

what I mean, is yes, they do list if a mod is only compatible with the new beta, but they don't say a mod that is compatible with 32 bit is not updated for the new bets
Do you have a specific example? There are several cases where something is flagged as working in stable and not in beta.
(The one I linked to, for example.)
I.e. Deep Woods... page says it's fine use latest from nexus... but it doesn't work on the beta

It may have broken in an update (probably the water tiles one) and needs to update its status. Like I said, the compatibility list is manually updated. If a mod's status is wrong, that doesn't mean the page doesn't track it at all.

The mod I linked to (https://smapi.io/mods/#PyTK) is marked as working in stable, but broken in beta, with a link for the unofficial version only for beta, so that's how it would look if Deep Woods were up to date. I'll look at it in a bit 😄

Aquilegia's Sweet Tooth conflicts with Downtown Zuzu
(They both add Bubblegum Ice Cream and Strawberry Popsicle - you can remove a mod or just remove the folders for the conflicting items. From Sweet Tooth would probably make the most sense, given that Zuzu may use those items in some way.)

I had that happen to me, in my case it was installing the colored gem lamps that messed things up for whatever reason.
I this it's the JSON item shuffle that can happen when you install/uninstall mid-save
but I'm not an expert
I did the ol delete fish.json and fishtraits.json and press F5 and it seemed to get rid of it

Hi, so I was wondering is there a way to make it so that mods only affect certain save files. So for example I want my main file with no mods however I would like to start a file with Stardew Valley Expanded but I don't want Expanded on my main. If anyone can help me thank you. 😄

in your stardew valley folder, there are 2 applications: Stardew Valley and StardewModdingAPI, run the Stardew Valley one for vanilla
(or put a . in front of your Mods folder maybe?)

I'm her author, was asking about portrait designs since I know its an important part of picking NPCs. I've set it up so players can pick between a couple of different art styles
Basically just collecting a ton of portrait designs so there's something for everybody lol

Why do so many people play the game windowed? I'm always surprised how much I see it.
More convenient. I prefer playing in windowed mode, but this laptop has a weird resolution screen size so if I don't play in full screen, it cuts off part of the game

I like to play in windowed borderless, but since I have a pot of mods and a long loading time, I can't access any other windows while sdv is loading, so I'll play in windowed so I'm not stuck like that for when my game randomly crashes

In the config.json file, you can turn on Balanced Crafting. It defaults as false, and these changes will only take place if you go to the config.json file and implement them.
From the SVE description page: "Crafting requires more/different resources. Some craftables are easier to make. Recommended if players are using the “Automation” mod and/or...
"Balanced" is much more expensive.
If you turn it on everything gets harder.

I play with it on because I'm shooting for 300 depth Skull Cavern runs in Spring of Year 1 typically, but I think the average person would just find it annoying.
I like windowed mode cause it makes it easier to switch to something else, like my browser or whatever
I guess I'm just spoiled then. It only looks weird to me because I have three huge monitors on my desk, so I can keep all my stuff in another monitor just fine

OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. Most likely, yes! Since the unofficial 64bit patch is doing what the official 1.5.5 update will do, allowing the game to use more memory
I hesitate to say 100% yes because it's probably still possible to crash the game depending on what mods you use and how many you have

DGA is the successor to JA
Mods have to be manually updated to use it, but it's a much more modern framework with a huge number of advantages
Like you can't ever have a conflict causing a renumbering of items changing a bunch of IDs and causing weird bugs
DGA has a lot more functionality too. Like, Content Patcher Animations is also replaced by DGA
Also, it allows for much more complex animations apparently, which is neat. Like doing something conditional like making a weather stone or something that shines on sunny days and shimmers on rainy days or something weird like that. Lots of possibilities, but nothing really done with them yet.

If you're different genders then it's because clothing is mostly gender specific, because they're shaped slightly differently.
Pffff I was hesitant to even try SVE because already had hundreds of mods (and I was worried about compatibility). But I've found my set up is Stardew Valley+ without it and I'm happy with that
The guy is a bit broader, so if a mod adds 30 outfits for women then unless they feel like redrawing it to fit the guy as well it won't also look the same on him

Yeah, that's just down to the modmaker. Apparently when it came time to draw the sprites for the guy they just... drew something else.
It's not even really a bug, but you can take it up with them and tell them you want the flannel shirt for guys too.
The conflict is super minor. Say they both edit the dialog on spring_3. Whichever mod loads "last" wins, and that's the dialog you see. That's it. Otherwise it's a matter of "lore" conflicts, like if the character is written differently
It's not like you installed it wrong or an option has been set funny, it's just how the content was made.

Would it cause any errors if I replaced a custom NPCs spouse room with a random spouse room?
Because I'm fairly certain that one is causing my game to freeze, and I'm sure it is something to do with it, because the NPC teleports out of their room, and into another part of the house when it happens ( I'm a farmhand, it's an NPC the host is married to )
I would report that to the NPC mod author, that's wild
I already attempted to ask, Flash, nor anyone in SVE, did not respond what so ever
It's Sophia, her room seems a little buggy to begin with ( Being able to sit in weird spots and the like ) , but most of the time, if she's in her room, my game hard freezes, not responding, when I try to load into the farm, and sometimes even on just a new day
So I'm wondering if I can just.. copy a random spouse's room from the vanilla game, and replace the file to see if that'll help. I can send a log of mine if anyone's good at snooping in between the lines of Smapi logs
If you're up for testing, I would temporarily remove all mods and only have SVE and its dependencies and see if the issue still happens. If it does, report it with both your log and the host log
You can certainly try to just replace the spouse room but I think that's likely to cause more issues. It's map modding though and that's not my forte
We've already got a mass of errors today from the host ( She wants me to post the link in here ) so.. we aren't really up for testing and dealing with errors and shit ;;

I see you've taken it to #making-mods-general hopefully they can help. It would definitely require finagling with files and idk in how many places the spouse room is referenced to begin with. I still think the best route would be the mod author to fix it, since they know their own code, but they may be unavailable to fix it right away

Ok this log has something gone terribly wrong with Adopt n Skin, looks like it couldn't load a dinosaur skin, 64? Seems like it tried to find it but it didn't exist.

In this log there's a wall of errors for walk through trellis so I'd yeet that out and make sure the host doesn't have it either

As for the Sophia thing, I maintain test removing all other mods temporarily except for SVE and its dependencies and see if you still have the problem. If so, get both your logs and share with SVE mod author. I think that will make it a little easier for them to troubleshoot.
If the issue only happens with all the mods installed, then that's most likely a compatibility issue that will take longer to narrow down with all the other mods

So my game was working great not even 45 mins ago, now im getting this error. How can i fix it? Assume i know very little about modding
I couldn't find one.
Couple things:
- you have Entoarox Modding Utilities installed but nothing that requires it, so you can uninstall that
- you have a lot of mods that need updates, listed at the top of the log with convenient links. Highly recommend updating them.
- in the Skipped mods section, the first block of red text, it says you have the SMAPI installer folder in your Mods folder. Delete that
- also in the Skipped mods section, you have a message about Unique Responses Core. It doesn't look like that mod installed properly, so delete the folder listed and reinstall the mod
- after doing steps 1-4, try loading the game again and see if you still get the error
^ in addition to this, you're missing a SDV content file, so you may need to update to the latest version of Stardew's beta or reset your content files: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Reset_your_content_files
(the error at the end is a file they added recently, iirc)

Question since Farmer to Florist has no forum. Has anyone seen this? recently Farmer to Florist upgraded to Dynamic Game Assets? But doing the upgrade caused 31 error flowers to show up at the end of the collections tab. Wonder if anyone else has ever seen this and if it was worth upgrading the mod?

if its from AT you can just disable the AT pack that adds the recolored grass

It does! It has NPCs to befriend, it's own events, shopping events ( REALLY fun in my opinion, a lot of the NPCs set up their own stalls and have unique and hard to get items, sometimes rare items, to buy ) , quests, and an area to fight monsters at

Ridgeside has a ton of friendable NPCs (some marriageable!) with their own heart events/storylines, custom forage, a quest board with extra vanilla-style quests plus a few you can get directly from NPCs, and two custom festivals (which include vanilla NPCs as well.
There's also even more content in the works

It looks like most of your ppja stuff isn't working right though.
Looks like you installed PPJA megapack and then the stand alone versions of the same mods so you have duplicates.

removing the megapack seemed to fix the issue of smapi saying I could update the ppja mods but thats all
I disabled Alternative Textures & the world of SDV is back to it's normal (sort of) colors. I did download the Alternative Textures example pack at the same time as the base mod so as to have something to go by when I felt like looking into it.... I never even thought that the thing would be so aggressively crawling out of it's box on it's own, though...

I figured it out, the early opening stores mod was interfering. apparently it also changed the closing times
still cant figure out what values to change in order to have the shop open later though...
(Like I said earlier, I really don't recommend starting with that pack; the method it uses to modify the maps is very outdated compared to the docs I linked in #making-mods-general - which is a better place to get answers for making mods also 😄 - which shows how to use CP to edit tile properties, without needing any map merges or TMXL.
It can be overwhelming when you have a specific thing in mind and there's so much information, but everyone has to start somewhere!)

I just wanted to ask if PyTK is still having issues with the newest SMAPI beta update . Do I have green light to install the newest beta patch ?
Since SVE changes the main map, you'll likely have trees and bushes in places they aren't supposed to be, and forage in out of reach spots
It can be cleaned up with NoClip and ResetTerrainFeatures, but it's a bit of a chore
Just make sure you don't have any item from the mod in your inventory or chests or it can cause issues

it adds lots of new content, it means stardew valley expanded, but although many ppl recommend it I tried it and it feels so unfinished... there are a lot of huge quite empty spaces, most additions feel way too op and overall it's not well balanced, but you can give it a shot

Unlike SVE, uninstalling most other mods won't wreck your save 👍
So you can try them out and then get rid of them no problem if you don't like them

Only download the top if you are using the 1.5.5 64 bit beta. If anything else, use the standard SVE.

i wanted to know if there was a way for the forcetillable config setting to be location specific- like I want to be able to till grass tiles inside a greenhouse but not outside
ahhh with spacecore and other mods they change the game code as opposed to CP which just overlays content, so it says there's a chance it could mess up a save file. it won't kill the game itself or hurt it, just be wary that your save file could be affected- make sure you back up your saves before you save your day if you're worried about that
in general though i've never had an issue with spacecore 'v'

Hey! im not sure who to message about this and please redirect me if im contacting the wrong person, but im having an issue on my modded save. I've gotten 100% perfection on the tracker in Qi walnut room, recieved the statue from there too and have gotten the text saying "the summit is calling you" however whenever i go to the summit, no cut scene triggers. Is there any way to fix this?
did you sleep after checking the perfection tracker or just immediately went to the summit

i had a person on the stardew valley forums try and help out, they downloaded my mods and save file, tried everything they could think of and couldnt figure out what was wrong
Who M removed the mod from Nexus and also from Naver, so there's no way you can get it unless someone else has a copy. (I don't have it either, sad)
from the wiki Sitting on the wooden bench at the topmost edge for the first time causes a special cutscene to play.. so i guess you need to sit on the bench

hm. not sure how you would troubleshoot it, but can you link your savefile, i could at least check if one flag is present in it (unless someone did that already)
if I'm putting mods into my mods folder by hand instead of using a mod organizer how do I set the load order, can I even do that?
normally you don't need to worry about load order, it's done automatically by smapi. if you want some mod to reliably load after another mod you'll need to set a manifest dependency, otherwise you can try renaming the mod folders, whatever comes last alphabetically wins unless some other factor makes it apply its changes later

The same person on the forums did this for me, there’s no flags of any sort. We came to the conclusion that this save wouldn’t play the completion scene :/ it just sucks and I wish I could play it. So was just looking on here for any other ways

I once had a weird incident downloading an add on pack because a mod for another game was in there but the DSV team didn't add it. It was an issue on ModDrop's end 😂

@cloud spear OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. It did that to me too! However, I used a Mac to zip the folder and apparently this makes an invisible file on Windows when it’s unzipped, which could have been why?? On the other hand, I updated the zip folder and now nexus likes it so I’m not sure that was it.
Oh, those stupid invisible MACOS folders, where Macs store some metadata? I hate those...
I've never owned a Mac and have no intention of ever doing so, so it's annoying that when zipping up files for distribution the OS feels the need to rub its paws all over the output
