if so, you need to go back to 3.12.5 if youre gonna continue using the unofficial 64-bit

Hey there guys, (apologies if im interrupting an ongoing conversation ๐ ) i have a quick question regarding the Stardew Valley Expanded mod. I have downloaded the latest versions of SMAPI, SDVMM2 and Control Patcher, yet when i try to refresh my mod List with SDVMM2 it gives me the following Error Code (Image below)
Additionally, when i launch the game using steam, SMAPI says that SVE has updates, despite the fact that ive downloaded the latest version.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem is here?

When I was running 32 bit, I'd get OOM errors if I didn't restart the game after a couple of days. Upgrading to the 64 bit beta version, with less mods installed, consumes 8G+ of RAM out of the gate. Being that the 32 bit was limited to the first 2G RAM, how is that possible?

I updated my SMAPI to the beta version, I opted into the beta on Steam, but whenever I press play (or try and launch through the StardewModdingAPI.exe my game simply does not start. I have added every possible folder to my antivirus exceptions, but no dice.

zipped mods need to be extracted to be recognized, as far as I know.
Instructions generally are to extract them and then place the extracted files into the mods folder

@thorny crystal Although that looks like the unofficial 64-bit version, which SMAPI doesn't support anymore. Since you're using the official 64-bit version, it'll be in your regular game folder instead of the depot folder.

so I manually installed it in the non-depot folder, and it still does not open

Now when the installer crashes, the window should stay open so you can see the error.

@wary escarp I'm not sure how up-to-date SDVMM2 is, since it hasn't been updated since early last year. I suggest either installing the mods directly, or using a more up-to-date mod manager like ModDrop (or Vortex, though it has its own quirks).

Okay ive fixed it, SDVMM2 seems to really have been the problem, and in addition to that ive been using an outdated version of "Child to NPC" which i havent noticed until now, in case anyone else has the problem with said mod i can provide a link for the updated unofficial version ๐

Hello, I am new to modding Stardew. I have modded other games. And so far I haven't had trouble. But, I am trying to get the "Immersive Farm 2" map to work and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I got the "EverFarm" Map to work. But only in single player. But I just cannot get Immersive Farm 2 to work.

Hello everyone! I got a question about the elven Krobus mod. I've been trying to get it to work (and I do have standardized Krobus installed), but the only thing working is the portrait, the sprite is still the shadow guy. Any tips?

That's normal if you don't have optional mods downloaded. Basically it's saying that if you have it, it'll do something extra, but if you don't, it's going to ignore that specific thing

No. One or more of your mods can use items from other mods, like Producer Framework, but you don't have one of those optional mods that it can work with, so it's just telling you that you don't have that optional mod that it can work with, so the items don't exist, so it's going to ignore that specific item's stuff

It's just letting you know that it can't find anything because the optional mods aren't there

Exactly, it's only an issue if you wanted those optional mods. But know that it'll probably send you down a rabbithole of trying to get all the optional mods

The warnings are not a problem. They are telling you, hey, there's an optional mod that has features that I'm not using, because you don't have the optional mod

hey, could someone help me figure out which adopt n skin mod i should download? i've been using unofficial for a while and i haven't migrated to smapi beta (since i'm not really a modder) - i use a&s in a multiplayer world but would rather use my old saves than starting over again ๐ฆ
May I ask how you're able to use it on multiplayer? Me and the host tried to use it, multiple times, it crashed us many many times, had us loose a ton of progress, then when I finally decided to try it out again, it nearly corrupted me. Literally, it corrupted it's own file ( Deleting and then reinstalling it temporarily fixed it ) , then I couldn't find it at all when I tried looking for it to delete it after it started messing up with us again

when i try and run the exe it opens a bunch coding things ( im not very good at this type of stuff) and it says starting game. then a bunch of red text shows up saying im missing files from the content folder and then it closes again

ok so you can install, you just can't open without a bunch of errors?
oh that sucks :((( we haven't even played a full year on our multiplayer world yet, and i tested it with loads of animals on a cheated world to make sure the reskins were working and they just were? i sent all of the assets over to my partner as a zipped folder so we have the same skin ids for all skins, if that helps? other than that, i'm really not sure, sorry!!
tbh, i think for smapi to work you need the foundation mods like spacecore, etc

hey all, I'm grabbing some updates cause i havent played in a couple days and smapi updated and... tailor mouse now says it wants dynamic game assets, but dynamic game assets says its only for 1.5.5, which i am not going to update to until its out of beta cause im no mod maker. Whats up with this? Can I still use tailor mouse?

basically yes you can still use PPJA/Tailor Mouse, but avoid the one that literally has DGA in the name
hmmmm, the mod update menu thingy sent me directly to the tailor mouse version for 1.5.5 i think. I'm not sure i can find one that isn't? like i searched tailor mouse and thats the one that came up

okay good i asked before i actually updated it because it seemed like it was trying to be a 1.5.5 version without directly saying so. Someone should maybe tell paradigmnomad that their update to their mod page is going to cause people to download it for 1.5.5 while using 1.5.4 since it now looks like the only version
cause like, im fairly mod literate even if i dont code at all, so i figured out it would cause problems while i was downloading the zips, but it directly says on smapi that its out of date and will do so right now
also if any of the mod authors are around and looking, tailor mouse, space core, and better junimos are all telling smapi that they need to be updated to the 1.5.5 versions, so that might cause some confusion
(I'll be looking into backporting DGA to Stardew Valley 1.5.4, but a few parts will need to be rewritten to allow it.)

mods take forever to load since 1.5 hit. It takes about 2 minutes for game to load for me, idk what's 'normal'

The 1.5.5 update will update the game to 64bit so it will be able to use more memory
the biggest offenders seem to be the frameworks more than content mods, or so I guess just looking at the progress in the smapi window while mine's booting

shiro is in town but isn't loaded properly because ridgeside needs custom companions installed to load properly
so when you go into town the game can't find all of shiro's files and crashes

I've gotten some reports that SMAPI freezes on the new M1 Macs: https://github.com/Pathoschild/SMAPI/issues/797. It's on my list to look into, but I haven't had a chance to look into why that happens yet (there's a lot going on in SDV modding right now).

im installing smapi, and its telling me to enable achievements but not how to do that. how do i enable achievements?
it does actually tell you - to enable steam acheivements, launch it via steam; to do this, take the line of code it gives you and put it in your Launch Options, which you get to by right-clicking Stardew Valley in Steam

Download the mod. They're usually in zip files or sometimes rar files. Unpack them and put the folder into the Mods folder

Then change the manifests for those two mods to the new IDs, if they did change

Okay, so none of these are marked for which version of SMAPI they're for except the ones for 3.9.5 or later, so unfortunately it's probably going to take a bit of trial and error to find the most recent one that'll still run on your version of SMAPI.
Under "Old Files" for Generic Mod Config Menu, start with 1.3.3 and work your way back.
It's the second big button right there on the smapi home page, although only use it if you're also using the SDV 1.5.5 beta.

hello! so I updated to the DGA of the PPJA mods and...aren't showing up? (I used item spawner to check) and they're just...not there? Some are and some aren't so that's what's confusing me? I'm not sure if I did something wrong on install or not but it seems to mostly be the Artisan Valley stuff.
Okay, pretty sure just changing the unique IDs in the manifests isn't enough, because I think it's Hisame's New Recipes that is telling me it has no idea what various things like salt and onions are.

hi im having an issue with the multiple spouses mod. in my current save i have only one spouse, and i increased the baby request chance (part of multiple spouses) in config to 100% (1.0) and im still not being asked for a baby. i've went through several nights. please help!

things that rely on specifically PyTK to save custom data, and dont have their own methods of saving custom data, will have the custom data go unsaved

like, if you have a custom item like idk a longbow or something, and it uses pyTK's custom save handler to save...how much ammo it has or w/e, then that data won't be saved and will just vanish

Okay but the issue isn't that I'm using an xnb mod. The issue is that in the base game, the farmer files are .xnb files, and I need to replace them, but the modded files are .png files. I can't replace the .xnb files with .png files, so therefore I must convert the modded .png files into .xnb files for it to work. How would I do this?

There's a new mod that just came out today, called Realtime Minimap, one of the settings is I have set is 0 and not -1, I'm going to go fix that quick

Although, I'm not sure how my laptop is weak.... I've only had this laptop for a few months. Oh well, probably'll get better over time with updates
which mostly means its not optimized at all, doing 'anything' relatively realtime has to be incredibly careful what it calls
it's very easy to murder the game framerate doing certain heavy calls every frame
So happy surprise from 1.5.5: it apparently recognizes .pytk files now for you hi-res portrait using folks! (specifically for characters like Jasper or Lyell who change portraits situationally/seasonally and so Portraiture isn't an option)
also neat, after a forced week off, I can 'almost' run the game in the beta
LoveOfCooking seems like the only fully nogo in the beta atm for me, atleast at to title screen stage.

Anybody here have this (small) issue where sometimes the game seems to freeze and you have to click on the screen again for your mouse movement to be recognized again? Not sure how to describe it otherwise. It's almost as if Windows randomly decides not to make Stardew the active window.

No, we don't have anything that modifies the mobs. But winter, the season we're in ( Multiplayer farm ) , has been giving me MAJOR lag issues

Yep, although looking now, it looks like the PNGs are available
the longer load times are likely because something is patching things to look different when you're inside/outside. SVE does it for example if you have the seasonal edits option enabled i think (it's not necessarily a problem when one mod does it depending on the assets modified, but they can cause chain reaction of edits from other mods too)
For reference, I'm using the Romanceable Rasmodius mod and used the sprites/portraits from the mod you linked in place of the included ones. Is that what you're trying to do?

i've noticed increased memory usage during winter compared to other seasons, and it could be that it contributes to the general lagginess (with 8gb ram it's pretty easy to get close to the system running out of available memory with modded stardew)
your best bet is to run something like process explorer and monitor when you get close to physical usage limits
to troubleshoot that sort of thing

They're using a temporary SMAPI build that was created for testing, it wasn't an actual release.
Yeah but for testing purposes right now the mods all think that they're looking at basically 3.12.5 but its 3.12.6 + custom alpha changes

SMAPI doesn't have a manifest; changing the version would involve creating a new build on Linux and changing the versions. (And the release wasn't really meant to be used by others.)

Well yes, it's skipped because they're using a temporary custom build that was created for another user to fix an unrelated issue.

It seems it's a 50/50 shot on if it works in multiplayer, but when it fails, it crashes the game and makes you loose save progress

As Dynamic Game Assets supports custom furniture, it's likely that there'll just be a CF -> DGA conversion mod and/or thread
DGA is just 1.5.5 currently, so unless that function is also added into the 1.5.4 version, it'll need to wait. Unless you don't mind upgrading everything to the beta

Nope! DGA is a separate framework that can do what CF would've once done in regards to adding custom furniture in the game
What that means is mod authors (or users) would have to go through existing CF mods and turn them into DGA mods
DGA won't just make CF and CF mods work unfortunately :((

So basically spacechase (the author of JA, which is the mod used to add new items into the game) just released the succesor of JA, called DGA (Dynamic Game Assets) ; unlike with JA mods, when you use DGA mods you won't have to suffer through a JA shuffle every time you install a new content pack

However, I can't see any of the clothing when making a character for a multiplayer save, any of the map choices (Grandpa's or Immersive farm 2 remastered), and I'm sure other things.
Start by updating the mods that SMAPI notes in purple on that screenshot, updates frequently contain bug fixes.
Also, if you're new to modding, I would start with just a few and check that they're working first! Many mods have conflicts with one another, and putting them all in at once makes it hard to tell what went wrong.

It's a lot easier for us to read the full log when it's not in a screenshot

generally a mod will state whether it is, but mostly it'll be whether the mod accounts for the different controls that android has
I usually look for any mods thats compatible with CP
but i'm not super familiar with mobile so I'm not 100% sure;;
And then if they are compatible for CP, then u look for the versions uploaded BEFORE 21 Dec 2020 i think

if the mod is accessing new content then you'll have issues, but it'll depend on the mod whether you can go newer than that

-I would assume SVE accesses new content but I wouldn't know for certain. Given how complex it is I would be wary of crashing the save

It's mostly that it's so CPU-intensive in everything that it does, but it'll likely also just crash because it's not fit for the non-updated mobile

Content Patcher is a good safe bet, those mods will rarely hate anything you try
And a bathroom in your second house upgrade cuz u get a mirror to customize urself hehee

For example, I wanted to marry all the available bachelors, and managed to get the multiple spouse mod going hehee
I added some children recolors in too
So yeah, it all depends on ur goal

I also enjoy CJB show item price ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5 ) as a simple QoL mod, and I know a lot of friends enjoy Happy Birthday, where the player character is given a birthday that townsfolk acknowledge ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/520 ). This one is similar in that it makes NPCs actually acknowledge their own and other character's birthdays ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6525 )

Make sure to check out mods that say they're available for Content Patcher (CP) as well- those are frequently some very great mods that mostly won't have conflicts trying to run them with each other ๐
